iPad mirroring on ATV.

Same!

Going from first gen to third gen. I now have ability to Facetime with my folks, though to be honest, I prefer using my iPhone for that due to it's weight.

I have tried voice dictation, and while I don't slur or lisp, I spend more time correcting it's interpretation of my words even though I am enunciating them without exaggeration, than I would be if I typed it in myself.

The biggest thrill is being able to use it as either a media viewing device or as a feeder to my ATV using Air Video. I can watch all of the video on my iMac, even if it's not in iTunes!! This includes anime which used to have subtitle issues.

Jiminy Cricket is that you? Greg Heffly maybe? Granny of Tweety and Sylvester fame? <I figure this poster either has to be a really smart insect, have string beans for arms, or a 90 year old granny if the weight equivalent of two nickels is considered a workout.>
Golly gee willikers Jim-Bob, can'tcha take a joke or is "teasing" the big red fruit prohibited in these here parts dag-nabbit!?

Err... who can't take a joke? ;) <your response seems awfully defensive rather seeing as how my post was a joke>

I have terrible circulation to my hands so they are always cold, it's kinda cool because now they cool down my iPad and my iPad heats my hands up, I look at the heat as a new feature!

I am no longer double tapping or zooming in. I now play first person shooter games and enjoying reading on it more using flipboard which I did not use before.

I came from an iPad 1, so I'm really loving being able to use apps and websites that used to make me old iPad crash. It feels like the training wheels are off.

Also, since I didn't have a camera on my old iPad, I'm taking more pictures with it. I know people say it looks silly to use a tablet to take a picture, the fact of the matter is that I'm using my iPad so much that it's just easier to grab a picture with it than it is to grab the phone or the point-and-shoot.

A Million and One Ways of using my new iPad

We had an iPad 2 in the house before and it was the WiFi only version because I did not see a use for 3G when I had an iPhone already. WIth the Verizon LTE the speed is amazing. I am able to remote desktop into my work computer while riding in a car, and its just like if I was on Wifi. In fact a few times I have been in locations with spotty or slow wifi and actually switched to just using the LTE which was lightning fast.

Also I have been doing a lot more gaming. Looking for games with the new resolution, and I like using flipboard a lot more. I have taken a few outdoor movies and the quality is very impressive. A couple of times I edited/ touched up a few photos that were a bit dark and blurry using iPhoto and then uploaded them to my facebook.

Definitely I have been using this way more than my MBP which is now sitting under the coffee table.

Noob here. Hey all.

New things I'm doing from my iPad 1 upgrade are:

constantly checking the battery level wondering if it's normal to drain that quickly

showing it off to my iPad 1 owning best mate

Wrestling it back off my iPad 2 owning girlfriend. (that would explain lots of the battery drain)

Editing holiday videos.

Finding excuses to use it.

for now

just Dictation, but that is a lot as far as I'm concerned.

Beyond Dictation, I haven't really explored beyond using Goodreader, email, video and, yes, Angry Birds Space. :D

I notice I can read through my notes or a decent chunk of a screenplay easier, so I am pleased.

The real test will be how much I use it in conjunction with my classes at UCLA.

Sorry if this sounds like another "Revolutionary vs Evolutionary" thread but I have an honest question.

What are you doing on your New iPad that you weren't doing before?

I admit that I got caught up in the hype and sold my old iPad 2 in order to get a new iPad, but in the few weeks I've had it then I'm really not seeing it changing the way I do anything. I expected to read more, do movie/photo editing or watch more video but I'm finding I'm doing it less.

~ With Books then the retina screen makes text look amazing but even the slightest weight change did make it less comfortable physically.
~ With the camera then it still feels dorky, but what makes me use it less is the quality. Unless you're outdoors then it's not very good at all, IMO.
~ With Video then the aspect ratio makes movies either too zoomed or have too big a top/bottom border. Plus, I don't suffer from heat issues on any other app but I did notice the video did heat it up enough to be a distraction.

In no way am I saying its bad because I adore the new iPad. But I'm open to trying new things so I'm just curious if anyone else has a different perspective that I may have overlooked or if anyone feels the same way about it not really being "life changing". :D

[BTW. One thing I was thinking was that I would consider an iPad 2 screen on a lighter device OR more battery life in the current shell so hopefully it's not Retina or Nothing for now on.]

Are you kidding me????? I am so tired of hearing people complain about the weight. It's .11 pounds heavier, which equates to about.......2 ounces!!! Is 2 ounces killing you? If it is, you need to get outside more and exercise a bit.

Well for one, I make sure to use fire proof gloves when I am playing Infinity Blade on it. I also bought a back brace to accommodate for the extra weight without straining my back.

More games, more reading, more of everything in general. Before, I just felt that my iPad 1 was just too sluggish.
