I've just sampled that LP.

Just making conversation here but I still don't get the appeal of him, his brother, or their old band.
I like some Oasis tunes and they really hit a nerve as part of Brit Pop. The battle of Oasis vs. Blur was fabricated but certainly talked about. I am not a huge fan of Noel's solo work but he has more diversity than Liam's one trick pony.

Speaking of differing tastes, I have tried but can't for the life of me see the appeal of Foo Fighters. Many do though...

Radiohead today. It suited my mood.

Radiohead suits most moods.

While Oasis wrote some terrific songs, personally, I tend to prefer Blur.

Agreed - Dave Grohl super cool dude. I really, really like about 8 songs total. And that tune,The Best of You, WHICH SEEMINGLY EVERYONE LOVES, is utter sh.i.t to me.

Radiohead 2 songs tops for me. I know should like them but I don't.

Blur, nothing has ever caught my ear.

It's all down to personal taste I know, but when I listen to music I want a hook, a good chorus, something that sticks and none of these bands has really done that for me. It makes me wonder what is wrong with folks who do like their music. Please get yourselves checked out. :p ;)

RHCP....interesting that you really don't like them. A bit repetitive in my opinion but I think Under the Bridge is great as well as some of the Californication album.

On another topic, living in the southern US do you like "southern" bands? I started in the mid-70's when I was 14 getting into the Allman Brothers, and then some perhaps lesser bands like Wet Willie, Black Oak Arkansas, Marshall Tucker and then much more recently The Drive By Truckers (really enjoy some of their stuff).

Well, while I disdain and deplore rap, heavy metal, and hip hop, I would never suggest that those who like such stuff "get themselves checked out".

Preferences differ.

Molly Hatchet, Head East, LeRoux, 38 Special, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to name a few more that "come to mind" and still listen to occasionally - was a big fan of the early Leroux albums ( "UP" and "last safe place") epic guitar solo on "Roll Away the Stone" just IMHO

Marshal Tucker and Lynyrd Skynyrd being among my regularly played favorites

Have not heard the "The Drive By Truckers" - will check them out

I think it's hard to argue BSSM isn't their best album, but if you want something a little more funky, I'd put Mother's Milk at #2 (probably a 2 or 3 way tie ...), first album with Frusciante and Smith, a pivot that caused a pretty amazing sound, a neat mix of new rymths, old funk, enough early rawness, etc.

Er, so I guess I'm saying, go listen to Mother's Milk :D

I remember my dad listening to Talking Heads when I was a wee lad. Thanks for that .

You've left off Lynyrd Skynyrd ...

While I'm not a huge fan they also have several very good tunes.

I'm sure you've all heard it but...

Then again this guy hadn't...
