Richard Strauss: Eine Alpensinfonie - Berliner Philharmoniker, Karajan
A wonderful CD - definitely has an Alpine feel to it, some spectacular horn parts. One of Strauss's Tone Poems you can hear the story develop as the music progresses and you climb the mountain and experience the ascent bad weather along the way, reach the summit and then the descent back down.
Here is a nice review on "Gramophone" Strauss's Alpine Symphony: which recording to own?
