There was a TV show who knows how long ago, that had this as the theme song. Or maybe it was just in the commercials, I forget. I've loved AIC for a long time now, and the hill I'm willing to die on is that they were the best thing to come out of Seattle in terms of Grunge (or even the general music scene at the time). There have been many heated discussions with numerous people who thought that Nirvana was the bomb, but for me it'll always be these guys. I guess it's kind of like the age old "The Stones or The Beatles" quarrels. For the record, it's The Stones.

Now, for the kicker, when it comes to early nineties Seattle music acts, I actually like even Sir Mix A Lot better than Nirvana. Though that's something I'm willing to compromise on depending on the day. Dave Grohl is a cool dude, though. And The Beatles aren't bad either.

Listening to Seven Souls by Material, featuring William S. Burroughs narrating passages from his novel The Western Lands. I remember first hearing this song on The Sopranos many years ago, and then promptly forgetting about it. Some years later I was reintroduced to it by a friend, and while it's not exactly an album I put on all day every day, there's something very compelling about it. Suitable for late night listening with a dram or four of scotch.

There's a loosely defined "genre" of music called Desert Rock (also Stoner Rock). Kyuss (and many other projects featuring among others John Garcia), Sleep, QOTSA, etc. All great bands with hours upon hours of fantastic songs. Then there's folks from an actual desert, in this case Sahara, making fantastic music. I'd really like to see these guys live sometime, they played a show here in 2017 but I couldn't make it. Maybe next time.
