The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground

Their 3rd album, released March 1969. The first album post-John Cale.

Pale Blue Eyes and Candy Says are two great tunes...

Listening to Joao Gilberto "Amoroso" album. I absolutely LOVE his calming voice, and the strings add so much to the arrangements—if there were no strings, this would legitimately be a bad album. Also, I think it's a great album to listen to after a long (but fun) night at the jam session.

Listening to it because I like it but also I'm writing some arrangements for a gig with singer and a guitar player (and me on keys), and she wants to do some more modern stuff, so this kind of meets the requirement of that...

in preparation for seeing them on Friday, a little Rammstein to kick off today!

Rammstein - Angst

Good video. I wish I understood German as it would make the Rammstein experience more meaningful. Enjoy the concert. They will be playing at the Olympic Stadium here in Helsinki for two nights in May.

While I don't know German... I do know their songs! So there is that. I have been following them for a very long time so I can "sing" with them... but speak the language, nope!

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

A great album. Yet Reprise Records (Wilco's label) refused to release it in 2001 as they were not happy with it. Wilco wisely acquired the rights to the album and it was ultimately released by their new label Nonesuch Records in 2002. One or more execs (perhaps former execs?) at Reprise hopefully feel foolish as the album is considered to be one of the best since 2000.
