I think it is less about liking DMB than it is liking music from the 90s. DMB does know how to groove, but the 90s (read: newer than 1992) to be brutally honest, was not good.

If you want a social stigma, Nickelback is that band. We were force fed that crap, and a DJ was even fired for playing it.
