Not sure if I should put this one in the classical thread or here, because it fits both.

For those that don't know, the Japanese female heavy metal band LoveBites has been taking the music industry by quite the storm. No one really expects that with the heavy metal scene over there being the theatrical show that Alice Cooper could only dream of having and that being the norm that to go against that grain, five rather gorgeous women would dress in white dresses, heels, and gain their influences from early 80s rock and metal bands like Judas Priest, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, etc., and not only outperform all of the other male bands out there, but outperform them in heels. As they tend to say, "we are not here to be cute; we are here to play heavy metal!"

One of the guitarists, Miyako (pictured left), is not only one of the best guitarists out there (outside the fact that she picked up the guitar at 18, used a book, and taught herself), but is a classically trained pianist (a virtuoso at that), and was poised to stay with that and perform around the world in the classical music scene. Her main era in the classical sphere revolves around the Romance era (Sergei Rachmaninoff, Frederic Chopin, Antonin Dvorak). During their short hiatus due to COVID, she has been working on a solo EP of songs prominently known in the metal scene, rearranged for piano. one has just been released: Eagle Fly Free, from Helloween. Very tastefully done, at that. Enjoy.

Def Leppard - Drastic Symphonies

I preordered this one, and absolutely love it. This is also heavily ironic, when they had this verse in one of their more popular songs:

Lets Get Rocked said:
I'm your average, ordinary, every day dude
Drivin' with my baby, to get her in the mood
She's dialin' through my radio, and I'm ready to make my move
What she got ain't rock'n'roll, and it really blew my groove

It was Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven
And it makes me want to scream!
Bach, Tchaikovsky violins
Turn it off! It ain't my scene

Ironic that they do exactly what isn't their scene. I'm glad they did it, though. Drastic Symphonies has some amazingly reworked pieces.

This album is quite a bit older than I thought, it's from 1973. I mean that sort of makes sense, but I didn't realize it was that old! I haven't listened to it in years!

We had the vinyl version in my family as kids and we played the heck out of it.

Memories.

My favourite cousin also had the vinyl version, and, as kids, we played it endlessly, whenever we visited him, or, whenever he came to stay with us, he was asked to bring both Sgt Pepper's and the board game Cluedo (known under another name in the US, I think).

Terrific album.
