I haven't been able to tolerate anything involving Gene Simmons after hearing this interview back when it was first broadcast:

Anyway, I've always liked the Replacements' version of "Black Diamond" better than the original...

A group I have listened to and watched since their beginning in 1979. A group I greatly enjoy. The 77's...

Yowsa, your post caused me to have a flashback.

I was pretty heavily involved in the indie music scene in the area where the 77's are from during the mid and late 80s. Somebody told me there was this band that didn't get talked about much yet was drawing big crowds—well, big crowds for the sort of groups that played clubs and dive bars anyway, we're not talking Taylor Swift here—and to check them out. So I went out to a gig.

Something felt unusual because instead of going to the seedy downtown or some restaurant's basement, getting to the show involved driving out to a suburban office park and finding a bland, recently constructed warehouse. I was immediately disoriented because the place wasn't falling apart and the bathrooms weren't filthy. Plus the people there all seemed so normal...not the usual ragtag collection of slackers, stoners, and aspiring musicians. And why can't I get a beer? What the heck???

After a couple of songs, it finally hit me: I was seeing a Christian rock band!!!
;-)

I was surprised when I learned they were also considered a "christian" band. I listen to them though because I like their music, which also includes secular rock and alternative. There are other "christian" bands (a hand full) that I listen to also....just because I like their music. I am not a member of any religious organization. I just love music, which is my very favorite form of entertainment, and my tastes in music are very eclectic.

Here are a few...

I was never a huge Prince fan but always admired his exceptional talent. I bought this on impulse and while it is a pristine pressing, but a bit digital sounding to my taste, the record production itself is outstanding. Yet, I am still not a huge fan of many of his songs. My wife LOVED it.

I feel the same as you about Prince. I do like “When Doves Cry” off this album though. I know the words by heart.🙂

Not a huge KISS fan here, but a talented bass player I worked with in Albuquerque turned me on to some of their music, in '87-'92. Saw them here in UT, the tour where the original members rejoined and put the makeup back on. My date stood me up, but I went anyway and was absolutely floored by their show. The crowd was still whooping and hollering as we exited the Delta Center (something I'd never seen before) and then, walking back to my car, I noticed the Moon was in a lunar eclipse, blood-red.
I'll never forget that night, even though I was by myself.

I can easily say I'm not a kiss fan at all, their setup, and MO seemed too performative and I really didn't like their music.

With that said, RIP Ace Frehley, I wonder what goes through people's head when they get close to the end. For Ace, like a number of people he had the world at his beck and command, legions of followers, more money, fame and lavish lifestyle, but its all gone as you turn the corner in life.
