The watch (well, mine does) notifies me when my iPhone's battery reaches 100%.

It used to alert with a ping, but now it's silent.
Are you using a third party app for this because I have never seen this in all the years I’ve had an Apple Watch. As far as I know, the iPhone doesn’t push any of its battery information to the watch.

I use an automation on my iPhone, which speaks when the battery reaches 100%.

This notification is forwarded to my Apple Watch.

Uncripple the watch so it will work as hands free calling in my cars Bluetooth

Make the apps not dependent on the iPhone and make it a more stand alone device…which they won’t because having you have to have both device$

I want them to reimagine the Rings on the Apple Watch and make them optional in terms of what you want them to be. One of the things I miss on the Samsung Galaxy Watch is the Pedometer feature, and while Apple does count steps, it's barely visible. I think the Stand Ring is dumb (And it pressures me to either wake up early or stay up late, sometimes both) and want to change it to something else. They've had the same rings since the original apple watch and I think it's time for a refresh.

Other updates I want:

1. Making the Apps work better. I barely use the apps because it's just so slow on the watch.

2. More digital watch faces. A lot of the analog faces they have looked terrible, and I'm more of a digital guy myself. It's a watch so I want to be able to read the time. I want the freedom to customize the watch as I see fit rather than what Apple wants.

3. Louder alarm/timer. That thing should be really loud but it doesn't seem all that loud at all.

4. The ability to update the watch without taking it off. It's a bluetooth device, and by it's nature it's interactive to the point where you have to keep it on. Why should I take it off to update when it has a charge above 50%?

5. I want my new month challenge as soon as I get perfect Month, not right at Midnight of the new month.

I think what I would really like is for there to be more complication options on more faces. I would like to change the watch face to something prettier and more artsy and still have the option of 8 complications that are only offered in the infograph category.

Agreed! That would be awesome. I also wish for more faces with 6-8 complications.

I don't know if the hardware on the Apple Watch is capable of supporting it, and I'm sure there are a lot of technical challenges that would need to be solved to implement it securely, but I would love to be able to clone my work ID badge (the card I hold up to a reader to open doors at work) onto the watch.

Small Weather complication showing BOTH the current conditions and temperature, rather than having to use two separate complications for each. I think it even used to be that way several major versions ago - I want this back!

Ability to edit workouts directly from the iPhone - something that has been discussed multiple times in a runners’ thread in these forums… This feature would allow much easier/faster building and editing of custom workouts as well as cleaning up of the old/obsolete ones.

Also, more detailed and flexible options for the workouts. Such as - more granular setup for running pace, currently you can only go by 10s steps, but that’s painfully clumsy, I mostly have to set a wider or narrower pace range instead of what I actually want to achieve. Or, ability to change the notifications during a workout - for example, switch from Actual to Rolling pace notifications anytime without having to end the workout and start a new one. Also, the notifications should be more customisable - I’d like to be able to e.g. combine actual and average pace, hear how much I’m ahead or behind the goal time when running with a pacer, and such.

Also, independent Sleep mode - not just mirroring the iPhone - so that the Watch can be e.g. asleep but the paired iPhone can stay in a regular mode (there are some workarounds such as using the airplane mode on the Watch, but that’s too cumbersome and not really usable on a daily basis).

I’m using the Wallet app to store my credit card on the Watch, and it works fine (it’s detected by card terminals in stores, public transit etc). So it perhaps depends on the type of card that’s being used - as long as it can be added to the Wallet, it might be usable also for your scenario…

LOL this thread has opened another worm hole for me now, I've discovered complication apps, I may never accomplish anything productive again. LOLOLOL
I'm recovering from a botched cardiac ablation what ended up in a full cardiac arrest and a total of 7 weeks in the hospital/rehab facility. I've only been home three months and still have quite a way to go on my recovery so I have plenty of time to play, researching all of this. I'm having a really good time learning about this AW. Thank all of you for helping me.

What would you like from the next OS update?
  • MacOS - That Apple themselves adds a Metal3 workaround for supporting Direct X 12 series of API's.
  • tvOS - That Apple allows content suggestions within apps, its pretty useless environment when looking for what to watch compared to iPadOS apps or MacOS web interface.
  • iPadOS - just add a basic calculator to iPadOS 17.
  • iOS - more wallpaper customization for iPhones. Also a landscape view of control center.
  • Apple Classical for iPadOS and MacOS to be accomplished.
  • Better radar for Weather app.

there are a few things they could do to make the existing apps easier to use on the little screen. Like emails, for example. Some come through as plain text, which is easy to read, whilst some come through as an image of the text, which is far too tiny. They should be able to convert the image of the writing into plain text.

It would be good if you could relegate the time to just being a complication as well, instead of being the main focus of a watch face. They could fill the screen with all your rings and health stuff first, or list your reminders and calendar appointments, and just have the time in the corner.

And I'd like to be able to put a counter onto a reminders list, instead of having to type a number out. So you just have to press a -/+ button to change it up or down

I actually like to get a widget that would port to my iMac the watch, phone, MacBook Air and iPad that would show the battery levels of the devices I have. I know it is not about the watch but come on Apple they can make it happen

One of the reasons I’ve been holding on to my 2015 Chevy Sonic for so long. My Apple Watch connects to its Bluetooth system fine. Music and podcasts play in it, but realized I can’t take phone calls or have maps directions read through it.

I recently got a CarPlay tablet set up in my car, so I’m taking my iPhone with me a lot more than I used to, but I’d love if I can just connect my Watch directly to it and still have the full CarPlay experience.

As much as I’d like a standalone AW plan, and I’m sure my Ultra’s battery can handle it without my iPhone being around all the time. You’re right, it’ll probably never happen. If I sold my iPhone, there goes a lot of potential App Store sales.

I'm with you here - especially considering they don't take recovery and rest-days serious at all. I have just run a marathon Sunday and they still try to push for the rings the days after. I have manually set my goal down this week (feels a bit like cheating but should be build in!!)

You can scale down your stand-ring if you feel it's dumb - maybe 6 hours would do it

For me, the stand ring reminder is more a cue to take a restroom break while working on my computer than it is anything to do with my fitness. Can't imagine that the <1 minute walk to the toilets is doing anything beneficial for my health, but it is enough to give me another hour of credit towards my stand goal. So yes, kind of pointless.

As for rest days and recovery, I completely agree with you; in fact I'd go even further. I don't see why Apple's algorithms don't take into account the wearer's age and current level of fitness, history of recent workouts and activity, and long term goals in much the same way that a human personal trainer would. Coaching should be based on achievable goals that provide both encouragement and health benefit, not just an insatiable desire to burn the most calories and spend the maximum time exercising.

From the main watchface:

- LH-Swipe goes to a notification/activity feed.
- Top-Swipe brings control center
- Bottom-swipe pulls up quick health features/workout starting
- RH-swipe scrolls through a series of full-screen widgets, all fully interactive and pulled directly from iOS16 making them require zero effort to port over by devs
- Press and hold allows changing and editing watchfaces
- The crown brings up an app library of 2x2 folders and apps within. A-Z remains an option.

But that's exactly what the stand ring is meant to do -- remind you to take periodic breaks instead of sitting for hours at a time. And yes, it's been said that periodic short breaks from sitting still to walk around for about a minute can be beneficial for your health, that's why Apple made the stand ring. If you don't have that kind of lifestyle where you continuously sit for hours at a time, then yes, the stand ring is pointless for you, and you can just ignore it.

We have ‘Indoor rowing’ - no GPS, and we have ‘Paddling’ - outdoor but still no GPS?!, why is there no outdoor rowing activity which can log where you’ve been?

Added bonus would be if it logged stroke rate :)

1. TRAILMAPS for Ultra.
2. Bluetooth support of bike cadence sensors and power meters.
3. AppleFitness+ support for hardware from major manufacturers (treadmills, spin bikes etc.)
4. A refreshed UI for the Apple Watch that feels "new"... I wish I could tell you what I mean by that but like Steve Jobs said it up to Apple to show users what they want, not have them tell Apple.
5. Refreshed watch faces that really take advantage of all the space the screen gives them.
6. I'd love health and fitness coaching but the rumor is that is coming in 2024 with WatchOS 11 and iOS 18.
7. Use the skin temp sensor for more than cycle tracking... alert for potential fevers etc.
8. Fully automated sleep detection... no more of this crazy setting sleep windows... I want the feature to detect sleep AND naps and record it ALL... with ZERO interaction on my part. Little ole Fitbit was doing this near perfectly many years ago and yet Apple still has a system that doesn't track naps and only tracks sleep if it falls in a window you have to preset... well my sleep "window" changes from day to day and I shouldn't have to remember to change it for my sleep to track!
