I'm re-reading MASH by Richard Hooker for, like, the fifth time.

Before that I read The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008 by Paul Krugman. Fascinating.

I'm half way though this:-

And I'm just about to finish this:-

Currently reading "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. My wife is a children's librarian and also very much into young adult fiction. She's been talking about these books for a long time and now all the buzz has gotten to me. Several people have said how great the series is. I'm only close to about half way into the book and it is pretty dang good.

As mentioned earlier i have started The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I am well into it now and loving it so far. It starts a bit slow but now i am hooked :D

Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami: Something I read a quarter of the way through at a friends place, quite a fascinating book, finally picked up my own copy so I can finish it.

Nasty Bits - Anthony Bourdain: Haven't started reading it yet, but if it is anything like Kitchen Confidential, I will be more than happy.

Love Warps the Mind a Little by John Dufresne. If I like an author, I stick with him or her. Just read two of his others.

A Widow for One Year by John Irving. His stories are addictive, if not lengthy.

Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. A classic about 1950s apartheid South Africa.

Now reading Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. It's for a church book study.

I haven't got anything at the moment but I am probably going to go back to the library soon :D

MASH is next up on my list of books-to-read (via the iBooks app on my iPad).

Right now, it's The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey, by Candice Millard. I'm reading it via the Stanza app on my iPad.

I'm not sure what purpose this thread is meant to serve. The people posting to this thread have, by definition, not finished the book they're reading and consequently are unable to comment on the merits of the book. It's rather like asking, "What color are you wearing today?". I've read some awful books and I'd have hated for that information to influence anyone. I'd rather hear recommendations.

Well The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was brilliant. Apart from the slow start i was hooked! Place and people names are confusing at first as its all based in Sweden but you get used to it after a while. The pacing of the book was great and characters well thought and fleshed out. I would give it 9/10. Looking forward to the other 2 books in the series :D

Theres only one thing that i would change :

SPOLIER ALERT!!!

Once the Harriet mystery was solved i thought the book lost a bit of its appeal. Yes i wanted to see Wennerström hung out to dry but for me the real meat of the story was about Harriet. Still enjoyed it immensely though.

SPOLIER ALERT!!!

I just finished several wonderful books this last week. They were:
American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis
Less Than Zero by Brett Easton Ellis
and
The Rules of Attraction by Brett Easton Ellis

I was on a bit of an Ellis binge. :p

This week I'm reading:
Still Life With Woodpecker by Tom Robbins
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
and In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

I really dig Still Life and Catch-22 for their great comedy, but I'm balancing them out with the dark reality Capote brings.

Hopes and Prospects - Noam Chomsky

Absolutely fascinating.

I just picked that up the other day from Powell's. It's at the bottom of my books to read pile, but if you make a strong enough recommendation I may pick it up next week.

Hopefully I'll have enough time to read once school starts up next week. I've really enjoyed my summer downtime. I've had so much reading time!
