2.4 GHz Stock.

In the Kingston Apple Store now, people have reserved them so I have to wait until five to see if I can get one.

:(

Off topic: Does anyone by any chance have a picture of a new MacBook side by side with a new MacBook Pro?

I don't see why you are all opting for the 2.4GHz model. It's the worst value computer Apple sells at the moment. You get 400MHz extra processor speed and I bet most of you won't be able to see any sort of a difference over 2.0GHz.

Just go for the 2.0GHz and spend the money you save on something more useful than a processor with a slightly higher clock speed. Maybe a time capsule or a nice printer or something.

Which is why I hunkered down with AppleCare and am waiting for next year.

oh but the backlighting! i am so pissed Apple didnt include it in the 2.0 GHz version. plus no backlighting means no ambient light sensor which i love on my mBP.

I'm going with the lower end model:

2.0GHz

* Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2GB DDR3 Memory
* 160GB hard drive1
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

And doing like iMav and upgrading the ram and hd. No point in paying Apple's prices to get the same product.

I'm not looking to buy until a few months to a year from now though. I just bought a new one back in May. :(

YOU don't see it because YOU don't place the same value on backlighting as those who are purchasing the 2.4GHz MacBook.

The differences comes down to whether or not you want backlighting and how much you're willing to pay to get it. Same thing occurred with the black MacBook.

If a person is going to spend big money on an Apple, THEY might as well get what THEY want, not what others think they should have.

I thought that the Apple stores wouldn't reserve them? That was what I was told when I phoned Bluewater and Lakeside :confused: It would solve my problems if I could reserve one!

I only want a 2.4 because of the back-lit keyboard:D

what is the best deal for a aftermarket HDD? they are so easy to upgrade I will probably put a bigger than 250gig one as soon as i come home from the apple store. i hear newegg is good. how much oomph can i get for $150?

I'm poised to buy a new Macbook for my 12th grader, and the backlit keyboard--not the speed--is why I'm eyeing the 2.4GHz model. But I must tell you, I just explored 3-pound laptop PCs for a friend, and on the HP site, if you want backlighting with your keyboard, it costs just $25.

^ Are you kidding me? I wish that Apple could use HP's pricing. But, the premium always bits Mac users in the butt. 25 bucks would be the world to me! but there is the 250 GB HD with the MB and a 250 GB HD would cost 100 bucks alone, plus fifty for the backlit (apple priced), and 100 for the useless processor upgrade.:rolleyes:

Oh, I can't wait! Ten days and counting.

2.0GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB DDR3 Memory
160GB hard drive1
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

Soon my husband will have his iMac all to himself.
It will be my first mac, and most likely turn into my second husband. :p

macbook should come by THU

i have been waiting for my macbook (lower end version) to arrive - its been about a week since i placed the order, its coming all the way from shanghai!

i have been slightly worried after hearing problems related to the loose battery cover and slanted keys. but i am feeling positive about apple and its products, and hopefully it wont let me down. so lets hope for the best.

Black MacBook
Revision 4 (Early 2008 model) - Manufactured in June, bought in July.

The last of the BlackBooks. *emotional music; BlackBook sitting on a hill filming the beautiful sunset through the iSight*

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
4 GB RAM (2GB upgraded by hand)
250GB Hard Disk Drive
SuperDrive 8x
External floppy disk drive with same colour and finish as the BlackBook
Intel GMA X3100 144MB (or 300 and something MB under Windows)
US-style keyboard because I don't like the EU enter key, # key replaced with £ key from the UK keyboard
Leopard 10.5.5 and Windows XP Service Pack 2
iLife '08 and iWork '08 preinstalled
Final Cut Express added from a previous machine

All in all an absolutely wonderful machine. When she dies and I get a new one, it will be anodised black in homage.

Also, SPORE FTW!

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB

Here's a picture of mine. I did not get either the optional penis or vagina attachments, so it remains genderless.

I did, however, upgrade that 2.4Gz MacBook to 4GB of Ram. It flies now.
