If memory serves, Apple policy is that if your device is physically damaged, they can and probably will charge you to have that repaired before considering fixing anything else.

Also, Apple definitely don't care about how much an individual customer spends in their stores. Their retail employees are trained from day one to treat everyone on a level playing field and not give preferential treatment to those who spend more. One of the good things about their stores IMO.

Replacement phones from Apple are new on the outside ie screen backing, and are fully checked internally.
Apples replaced a few of my products and I could not tell they were repaired items.

Apples warranty transfers to the replacement phone so don't worry just take your phone in and get it swapped out. With a small crack and your ram issue they may swap it for free as a one time replacement but if they don't just use your AppleCare + replacement cost.

Interesting timing that you care enough, after a year, about your reboots, to do something about it when the S is released. Do the right thing, and pay for the repair instead of asking how to get around your procrastination in handling the issue.

Thats what I am doing. I am not defrauding apple. All the first batch of 128 gb had faulty flash drives making them reboot often. I wasn't lazy. I had a case the whole year and its in near excellent condition except for a chip in the bottom left corner by the headphone jack.

I don't really care what you guys think . I probably should have taken time to write my first post properly but i was at work. Yeah getting rid of it is giving it to my dad who has a cracked 5. He cannot leave the house because he had pancreatic cancer and they screwed his surgery up and he spent 5 months in intensive care. There is no sense of entitlement. It is a customer service business and they will find a way to "work" with you. I don't need your opinions on what I am doing. If you don't like my post than don't waste your time responding.

and it is an investment because a 1000 dollar phone should work properly and for more than a year and after the year when i upgrade i should be able to hand it off to whoever i want especially since i just paid 500 dollars to own it from ATT.

"Following unconfirmed reports that an unknown portion of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units with 128 gigabytes of storage exhibit random boot looping and unexpected crashes, Apple has reportedly switched to using a different type of NAND flash technology.
The new iPhones use triple-level cell (TLC) NAND flash technology, but BusinessKorea reported Friday that the Cupertino firm will be switching to multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus going forward."

so please tell me how i am wrong for asking for a phone that doesn't crash. none of my iPhones crashed until this one.

The END

I understand what you're trying to do, but rather than discuss and dissect all of this drama, have you tried making an appointment and talking to Apple about it? I have heard story after story about Apple taking great care of their customers if you go in and talk politely and reasonably with them. In all honestly, it seems that Apple (generally speaking) takes better care of their customers than any other company in the world. The key though is to be open-minded and non-abrasive when you go in to see them.

Good luck. I hope things work out for you.

Headphone jack should still work. The faulty 128 gb flash cards they used originally are not my fault so I'm entitled to one that works like my friends . I'm not defrauding anyone .

It shouldn't reboot multiple times a day. My friends 6 plus dont
The multiple times a day rebooting should be covered by warranty.
Tell them about that

What's wrong is you are wanting a replacement phone that's in better condition so it's worth more. Yes you're entitled to a properly functioning device but you shouldn't have been so lazy waiting an entire 365 days to do something about it. And now with the 6s release you're suddenly bothered by the restarts.

You know what you're doing and it's wrong. Don't come to an online forum then complain when people tell you to do the right thing.

If you notice something like this isn't working properly you need to bring it in immediatley. If you break it (even just a crack) then you are now responsible for it and Apple in no way owes you the benefit of the doubt just because the phone is expensive.

My iPhone 6 was rebooting multiple times, sometimes right in the middle of phone calls. I just had mine replaced 3 weeks ago as a result. The genius ran a diagnostic and decided it was a battery issue.

If you're entitled to a repair or replacement, in unclear as to why you come here asking us what you should say?

I have no idea what you did to your phone. At the very least, based on your own admission, you may have screwed yourself over for being lazy and not having a phone you believed faulty from day one replaced before you subjected it to daily wear and tear for a year, which even resulted in a small crack on the screen.

If it's sympathy you're looking for, you won't get it here. For better or for worse , MR is brutal lol.

I have always been bothered by the restarts and always was going to replace it but I did not want to waste one of my replacements because something else always goes wrong . But my dad on the other hand doesn't know how to deal with all this

First off the screen is completely functional . I have updated the phone and had the problem with all os including iOS 9. I have apple care and it's never been used . I spent 5,000 at Apple this year . I will get it replaced . I expect a normal functioning product . Never mind guys I wasn't asking for your opinion on my ethics . I pay for something top of the line I expect top of the line end of story.

I am giving the phone to my dad who is handicapped and just spent 5 months in the hospital so it needs to be working because he can't go to the Apple Store and lives in a different state

If you expect top of the line you don't hand in a broken and cracked device and expect free replacement.
Take care of your phone to stay top of the line instead of abusing it.

Sigh...that doesn't make sense. If you had replaced it sooner, you wouldn't have "Used up" one of your incident/replacements, since it's a Apple initiated warranty/replacement program.

However now that you have damaged it/ have a crack in it, Apple may advise you will need to pay (the deductible) to get your replacement, and you WILL be using up one of your 2 incidents per year.

I think peoples problem is with the wording of your thread title. Sounds like youre trying to scam Apple.

My experience has been that if you go in there, are honest and upfront, and just state the facts (e.g. I know the screen is cracked but the phone has been restarting since I got it. Plus x and x have never worked, etc), Apple will usually replace the phone for free, if they feel its a manuf. defect. I've had damaged phones replaced because the damage had nothing to do with the defective part of the phone.

OP, just go in and tell it straight. Youll probably get a free replacement.

Sure, Apple will just give you the newer model.

And, right after you get it, go down to your local car dealer and tell them you want a newer car as well.

No problem at all.
