It would be great to see "customizable wallpaper", like on your iPhone and iPad, as a watch face option.

I'm not exactly crazy about any of the options we will be given.

i would like to see an analog watch face with logos/pictures in the center (i.e. sports teams, apple logo etc)

The serious, "professional" side of myself would like to see designs "inspired" by A. Lange & Sohn, and FP Journe.

The fun side would like to see Marvel/The Avengers, TMNT, and WWE themed watch faces.

This. I was talking to my wife about the watch she is getting today, and she said "but obviously I can pick a photo of our children to be in the background of the watch face".

Seems like a clearly obvious feature that as far as I know is missing.

I'd like to use my own image for a watchface & just add complications

This was a watch face called 'Photo' but it hasn't been seen since September I don't think. They may have removed it.

I'm just curious if they'll open up the ability for 3rd party watch faces, similar to what is seen with the Pebble App Store (maybe Apple already is, however, I assume they will only allow you to use the ones they have shown online / in commercials, etc?)

I would love to be able to add a Mavin the martian face. Might be a cool idea to add a quote from him as well; "where's the kaboom?"

It would be hilarious to see a "skeleton" watch face for those of us that are into horology. In this case, an actual skeleton of the S1 chipset would be just funny to see but if they do mechanical stuff like a torbillon or carousel, that would be quite awesome. The watch faces I would want to purchase would be actual faces of existing watches from companies such as Cartier, Swatch, A Lange & Sohne, IWC, Patek Phillipe, Vacheron Constantin, Rolex, Breitling, Omega, Tag Heuer, and Panerai to name a few. It would not only help pad those companies existing sales, but would also inspire sales of their wristwatches to Apple watch owners.

Wow! You couldn't be more wrong. Thank God that you didn't run Apple.

If you want to see a million horrible watch faces just install the Pebble app and browse their store. There are some truly awful ones there. I think they will let anyone put one there.

I do hope I can put my on wallpaper on though.

I'm not a fan of cheesy/obviously digital faces. I would love to see more classic analog faces.

I like what Apple did giving people the option to modify parts of their watchfaces to their own preferences. I can't see them opening that up to developers though.

Sbb

One face I would like to see (and I am surprised Apple didn't bake this in already), is the SBB Swiss Bahn clock face. They have used it in the past... I guess for the Watch they would need it to have a black face for battery reasons but would still look great.

The simple answer is that it isn't. Anyone that says otherwise is factually incorrect. The human brain takes longer to interpret an analogue face, no matter what. Not to mention getting the minute exactly right would take a second or close examination for most.

It's not always about getting the exact time though. Often people who do a lot of planning need to glance at how much time has gone by or left. With analog watch faces I find it a lot easier to plan my schedule and get a general sense of time.
