I would say white! PS how do you post something on MacRumors???

Not clear on your question - you have already posted 4 times on MR

If you are asking how to open a thread - find the Forum appropriate to your question on the home page, click on the Forum title, then click on "Start Thread". Be sure your title says something more than "Help" - give a little information in your thread title.

Then wait - if it's a good question, someone will (probably) help you. If it's a bad question, brace yourself because you'll get flamed!

Think your question through carefully, then take a shot. And develop a thick skin - fast!:D

(I've taken my share of the death of a thousand cuts - always well deserved.)

WELCOME - you can have fun and learn good stuff here. (You can also get slaughtered - but what the hell, it's only your entire ego at stake!):D

Thanks so much :) I figured out gow to post a thread :) aafain, thanks for your help :)

I would get (and already have) black.

I have black because I'm a real man. Incredibly butch. Macho. Masculine as all get out. A man's man.

I wouldn't get white, or any other color, because they are not manly. Not for real men. Someone might think I'm not manly and butch if I got a white phone. That would be terrible, because I'm such a manly man.

Any man who gets a white phone, or wants any other color, is very suspect.

Women can get any color they want - because most women don't worry about crap like that. ;) :D

John Wayne, is that you?

The only sad thing about grown adults are the ones who get shamed into thinking that they are "evil" or "brutish" for thinking there's such a thing as girl colors and boy colors. They do indeed exist. It is instinctual.

I'm glad you enjoyed my posts, but I'm afraid I'm about to dampen your amusement.

Please cite scientific references demonstrating that children are born with instinctual, gender specific, color preferences. I am not aware of anything of the kind in the psych or developmental literature.

Absent this proof, your statement is... how shall I say this politely... horsecrap.

I used to think the same way (white looks a bit fruity, no?). But fingerprints and minor scratches are allegedly far less visible on the white one. I see that as a significant advantage despite the fact that I'm male.

A scratch on the white bezel would make the scratch twice as noticeable! It basically doubles because of the reflection.

Exactly. Fingerprints and scratches - basically anything on the surface of the glass - look worse on the white iPhone because they cast a shadow on the white surface, which is about 1.5mm below the glass' surface. Even the cutouts for the camera and earpiece speaker looked bad in direct light, and even worse with a film applied.

All you need to do is raise a child yourself in a normal, healthy, natural environment to see that children do indeed know the difference between what is for girls and what is for boys.

Oh, I see - thanks for clearing that up. This is a good reason for me to not get the white iPhone, really. I don't have many scratches on mine, but fingerprints are very visible at times, even though it's a black iPhone.

FYI, children, especially in their younger years, learn from their peers (in school) and by society. If you raised a child without any outside influence, their ideas/beliefs would be more "their own" rather than what people have planted in their brain. Someone wasn't paying attention in psychology/sociology class.

Raising one, or ten, or 20 children does not scientific evidence make. The effects of subtle conditioning, about which you would not be aware, is undoubtedly extant.

This does not constitute controlled, scientific evidence - it is subjective, biased, uncontrolled anecdotal report - at best.

While anecdotal reports may have heuristic value - it does not constitute evidence of a universal phenomenon.

Remember, whether there are any inherent differences (independent of environmental influence) is a subject of active (and frequently controversial) study. We are talking here about your assertion specifically about inherent, gender specific color preferences.

Awaiting evidence. :)

Black is my favorite color.

I love wearing black, driving black cars with black rims and black interior. When it comes to electronics, I love only black devices.

I went with Black on my 4S, since the case selection for the white is terrible. I had a white 3GS and still haven't found a case for it that looks half-way decent. My sister-in-law owns it and runs on T-Mobile; her case is Black...

i've had both. had a black iphone 4 and now a white iphone 4s.

if i were able to choose again, i think i would have just stuck with black. no problem with white but after having both for a while i think i like black more.

plus my gf also has a white one and its confusing when we have our phones out on a table etc. (doesn't help that she also bought the same case as me!)

Yeah that white looks amazing and i always buy things in black generally.

I thought the white might be a little to feminine till i saw it in person and 10 minutes later i walked out with my new white phone ;).

white because it's siiiiick! and futuristic looking. and very :apple:

It is getting some lint around the home button and along the edges though...

I got a white 4 in the spring to be different, then I noticed how you cant see all them nasty finger prints like you can on the black ihones.
So I got a white 4s at launch because of the lack of fingerprints, (white isn't very original now, everyone and their mother has a white iphone)

I'll quote myself from a different thread:

My wife has a black iPhone 4 and I have a white iPhone 4. Does that make her a lesbian and me gay? I think not. It's a smartphone. Not a declaration of sexuality at all. If you're that uncomfortable with the color of a smartphone, you have bigger issues.

Back on topic, I chose white because I feel that it looks cleaner and more like an Apple product. Not because I'm gay.

Again, this is my own opinion.

At the very least I would say they are equally purchased, even though I'm pretty sure black is the most common still.

I definitely see more black iPhones than I do white, even though white 4S sales were pretty good.... still wouldn't say that I see more white than black.

I'll quote Nelly as I always do on these threads:

"Nothing gets that hype on first sight like white on white"

I have white in the white and gray speck candyshell and... OMG

It's the business!!!
