even though i would have guessed north america being number one, in terms of continents, london seems to be the most common city i see here listed among macrumors regulars...of course, london is a graphic design hotspot (maybe the biggest worldwide) and a very large city

Texas.

Which, from what I gather, is considered a country, a continent, even a world unto itself (by Texans).

There are a few American places that do that, but I think Texans may do it to the furthest extreme. Which makes sense because supposedly they do everything "Big" in Texas. New York City and L.A. probably tie for second. In New York City we don't even consider Staten Island to be part of NYC, even though it officially is. And don't even get us started on the rest of New York "State." If it were up to NYC residents we would have seceded from the rest of the state a long time ago. All they do is spend lots of the tax revenue that the city generates.

Canada, you guys finally figured it out. The way to get rich is to feed the beast. You guys sell us oil, cheap drugs, and, uh, maple syrup. In exchange, we get a country we can say we came from so people won't want to kill us when we visit other nations. Lucky for you we're probably never gonna wise up and kick the oil habit or fix our broken healthcare system. You guys are gonna be sitttin pretty for awhile. Now all you have to worry about is not getting on Bush's bad side and labeling you 'terrist nation. ;)

The second largest country in the world baby and a great place to live!

Is it still that great in winter? ;) :) Although, I guess the part of Canada that you live in is not as cold as say the Northwest Territories. :)

Winter isn't that bad, I don't mind the cold. To me, it's better than living in an earthquake zone, hurricane zone, etc. - when you look at some other places out there, putting up with a little cold is a small price to pay! ;)

Yeah, it can get down to -40 for a few days in January, but our summers make up for it - it can get up to +35 or +40 easily (well over 100 degrees to you American folk) so we definitely have the extremes here! I love it.

Sounds like Pennsylvania- we too have extreme differences in hot and cold (just not as extreme as you have where you live). :)

nyc seems fully capable of breaking off and holding the us government back by force...when i think of areas well armed and able to defend themselves, nyc seems to crop up first ;)

actually you guys over there in new york city could launch an assault on the rest of the country and be victorious...wait, you have already done that...my nyc wife commented how strange it was that rural california kids were wearing south bronx clothing, spraying urban grafitti, and flashing the hand signs of gangs once known only in new york

I lived in LA (like one of the top 5 earthquake zones on the planet) and I'll take that nice weather and some random occasional shaking over months on end of that ungodly cold weather. (and yes, I've been through some horribly huge earthquakes. as scary as that is, it's better than freezing my knickers off)

you're a lot tougher than I am :p

North America, North Haven Connecticut. And my other home, is Portland, Maine, where my wife would much rather we live.

I know I have no clue that -40 will feel like, but I dont mind wearing warm clothing and then getting rid of the knickers at night! ;) :D :D

I'll tell you one thing. -40˚C feels exactly like -40˚F.
