Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Center of the Canadian oil biz! I have nothing to do with it...

-40C dry is better than -40C wet. It Does feel different.

I lived in LA (like one of the top 5 earthquake zones on the planet) and I'll take that nice weather and some random occasional shaking over months on end of that ungodly cold weather. (and yes, I've been through some horribly huge earthquakes. as scary as that is, it's better than freezing my knickers off)

you're a lot tougher than I am :p

Thanks, I think. ;)

And actually it's not "months on end" - January is really the only bad month, and it's only a couple weeks really when it gets stupidly cold with blizzards and such. You'd probably be surprised how nice it can actually be when it's -10 Celsius, the sun shining, and you throw on your jacket, boots and gloves for a nice winter walk in the park - fresh air and quite enjoyable! (And yes, I'm serious! ;) :D )

 14 Fahrenheit is far to cold for a "nice" winter walk. :)

Not if you're nicely bundled up. ;) But yeah, we're conditioned to the weather better here. I don't think many people from warmer climates could function properly here when it is "only " -10 Celsius, whereas it would be fine for us... wimps... :p ;) :D

Is that because you live off of a high protein diet consisting
of whale blubber? ;) :p :D

I don't consider myself a "wimp", I can tolerate a cold PA winter pretty well (this last one was quite mild). Not sure how I would do if it was -10 Celsius though..... :)

I used to think that it was okay, until I got a light case of frostbite. I can deal with the cold but I can't count on my hands, even in mild weather.

Don't get many whales here on the prairies, what with being landlocked and all... :p

Whale watching off the coats of BC is amazing though, I highly recommend it... :)

No worries, I wasn't calling you a wimp specifically. Actually I meant it as a joke regardless... :p ;)

That does sound like a good idea- I am sure it would be quite a sight to behold. :)

I'm all shivery 'n stuff just thinking about it.
I know that some of the most interesting places on earth have (what I consider to be) strange climate. Experience is a powerful motivator though.

Vancouver is a very cool city, however I would seriously recommend Vancouver Island as well, depending on what your interests are. Van Island is great for hiking, camping, whale watching, bungy jumping, surfing, you name it. Victoria, Nanaimo, Comox, Tofino, the list goes on. I have seen rainforests there that rival and in some instances better those that I have seen in Australia and New Zealand. The Queen Charolette's are amazing as well.

I split my time between Austria/Europe, and Palo Alto, CA.

would that be because of work? i'd love to find a job that lets me travel to different parts of the world and spend lengthy times there... then again i could become a flight attendant and tour the world!

lol i'm in the UK, but i've lived here, Pakistan AND Canada... so its all international baby!
