And actually it's not "months on end" - January is really the only bad month, and it's only a couple weeks really when it gets stupidly cold with blizzards and such. You'd probably be surprised how nice it can actually be when it's -10 Celsius, the sun shining, and you throw on your jacket, boots and gloves for a nice winter walk in the park - fresh air and quite enjoyable!
