Windows just kept getting worst and not really so much Windows OS as much as the applications. Then I got an iPod and then a Mac mini and I could not believe how easy life became and enjoyable.

I'd been wanting a computer for a while ( to make music on) and didn't have a clue where to start so I spoke with a friend who's father is a developer & he suggested I spoke with his old man .

I went over to see his dad and had a look at his machines for a while (all Apple btw) while he explained to me what was what , after seeing these I then went to see some more types of computer at the local shopping centre , after that we went straight back to my mates house and his dad ordered me an iMac G5 2Ghz superdrive through his account ( I didn't have a clue how to order online)Initially it was going to be a Mini but , well you know how well Apple funnels us into product lines .
This was 2005

the only machines I had before this was a commodore vic 20 when I was a little fella , oh & I used some kind of computer at school in the 80's but thats it , I suppose I have only really ever had a Mac ;)

funny that when i once went into the Apple store I mentioned this to the guy working there & he was blown away that I had never really owned any other machine than a Mac.... I thought he was going to give me a prize or something the way he and the staff fussed over me lol

How well it apparently worked, organized system.

After owning one, not so much. Freezing and then force restart daily (or more than daily) and I've been an owner for only about 2 months.

Buyers' regret right now...

It was actually the iPhone that made me finally move to buy an Apple. One week after buying the iPhone, I had a MBP.

I wanted to move to Apple since the early 2000s, even applied for the Apple credit card and got it. I went to CompUSA to buy a Mac with that card but ended up getting a 17" HP.

It wasn't till I got tired of all the "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" messages that I seriously started considering a Mac. The iPhone finally made up my mind without a doubt. A year later, I have four of these Apples here!

I used to have a gaming PC however it seemed that I had to reinstall windows on nearly a monthly basis because XP kept killing itself! I brought a mac in November and have had no problems since.

:apple: till I die

I'm a Windows network admin/support guy during the day. Have been since the mid 90's. Before/during/after I've owned a lot of different computers, even a Mac Pro years and years ago.

I had always build my PC's for years, but was getting very tired of the constant battles with malware/spyware/OS corruption that I was looking for a change. My gateway to Apple this time was a used B&W I bought probably 4 years ago now. It had a half gig of memory in it and I ran Panther on it as I remember. I wanted to 'try out' OSX to see if I could live in the Apple way. It took me all of about 30 minutes to find a few utilties I needed to add to OSX to enable me to get to my PC's and servers at the office and I was good to go. I've never looked back.

The B&W went to a friend who has sourced it to yet another friend and is still serving as a daily use workstation doing email/web/writing use. The sawtooth I replaced it with an upgraded proc went to another friend recently. I bought my current iBook nearly 3 years now and have been happy with things. You don't get OS/Hardware performance that lasts this way in the Microsoftworld. Starting to look at a MacBook Pro though as I could use a system refresh, and having an intel based laptop would be fun I think.

Never regretted once making the switch.

Have to say it was the design and boredom/frustration with windows boxes and everything else. I started with the iPod (3G), i was frustrated and how hard it was to use my iRiver player. I got the iPod and was mesmerized by how simple its interface was, good looks and good sound to boot.

Then a while later, the Titanium PowerBooks caught my eye (backlit keyboard), they were just sooo gorgeous and different but the prices weren't (£3000+) which was kind of a turnoff. I didn't even know that Apple made them at the time i just wanted one but couldn't afford

THEN in selfridges store, i saw an half-eaten Apple logo lit up from the back of a laptop (i like things to light up) and got curious, went to play with it (a 12" PB). These things looked good/portable/quiet compared to the normal grey dell boxes. I tried the OS and aqua was a beauty too look at and things were just zippy. I was hooked

Soo i started saving, sold my Dell inspiron and bought a 12" PB as soon as they were updated to the 1.33GHz model and have never looked back since

they had me at hello

not really but had to make that reference lol

it was just what my family had while growing up

We had a mac in year 4 and the graphics and sound was amazing (well at the time it was) , the ability to boot of external scsi cdroms and hdds. The gui of system 7 and the way when you clicked something in a menu it would flash twice then open the program.

I sadly when to windows but then back to mac in 2000 been there every since.

Oddly enough, my right-wing friends consider Macs to be "computers for liberals." Wierd huh?

LOL! I have to say... I am the biggest right-winger possible. I despise the liberal agenda. Although, I know the U.S. wouldn't be a democracy without both parties, so I deal with it.

But, with politics aside, I switched to mac last August when I got my MacBook Pro 2.2ghz. At the beginning of August, my plan was to get a Toshiba gaming grade laptop which was about the same price as a MBP. But one night, literally a few days before I was going to get my toshiba, I went to a friends house and messed with his macbook. Greatest thing ever. I ordered mine within a few days after that.

Using Imovie under OS9 was a dream in comparison to loads of programmes on my PC that always claimed to do more than they ever did. Really it was to get hold of the ilife apps. I think I would have been a very different person if I had bought a windows laptop. A less creative one.

Windows dying on me for the nth time pushed me to Linux, which I loved, but wanted something more polished, OS X.

I also left out that my friends 3G iPod was also a big pull, I loved the thing and finally got my own (a G5 by that point) and was convinced to get an accompanying Mac.
So yeah, that's me. It's interesting to see how many had that halo effect from the iPhone, shifted slightly from when it was the iPod that was pulling in the punters. ;)

Wanted a new laptop, discounted macbook was cheaper than a similar spec xps m1330 so I bought the macbook.
