5 minutes after pre orders I expect the page to look like this

I preordered original Space Gray Apple Watch Sport April 10, 2015 less than 5 minutes after preorders opened (official release date was April 24) and didn't receive it until May 19. I hope we don't face a similar fate.

I hope apple has learned from that launch.

Idk...but I have a strange feeling that the X is going to be hard to get just like the Airpods are now.

Again, thank you for sharing your experiences. More evidence to suggest that some people are being way too optimistic. The possibility for extraordinarily long wait times is very real.

I'll wait however long it takes to receive my iPhone X. There is no better option. iPhone X is quite simply the best smartphone Apple has ever made, and is the best smartphone in the entire world.

I'm pretty sure that it'll be completely sold out within minutes - just like the Jet Black 7+ was one year ago.
For me, personally, everything after Christmas is a big no-no. I'll just keep my 7 then or buy an 8.

The problem is that the yield is ridiculously low, the demand will be ridiculously high and to make things even worse, most people will aim for the 256 since 64 is way too small. Combine that with only one size and two colours and the disaster is inevitable.

For me, I never faced such unavailability issues for long. The max for me it was around two weeks after the official release. I don't pre order online, it literally chains you and makes you wait for ages while you can pick it up from a store maybe same day or couple days after the release.

But in my opinion, Apple is really aware of this and the one month and a half delay in releasing the iPhone will make them have plenty of supply in stock for the huge amount of demand, which is surely expected for such all new iPhone.

If I were to get a date more than 4 weeks out, I would just wait until I could walk in store and get one.

If you miss the initial wave, it’s usually easier to get one via the reservation system.

Considering I’m already on the fence. If Google Pixel has even a moderately good, acceptable showing on Oct4. Apple has given me time to evaluate it. And I still decide to go with the X.

Im of the amazon prime, two day, same day instant gratification generation.

If I don’t get before my trip 2nd weekend of November... that could do it. Its painful enough waiting til Nov as it is.

If it's more than a few weeks their delivery windows are usually pretty conservative too. I remember with the AW they would say 8 weeks out but they were really shipping at 4 or 5 weeks too. I agree with other people though, if it's more than a couple weeks you'll get it faster checking the reservation system if you have a couple Apple Stores within a few miles of your house.

Is it too optimistic to assume that Apple wouldn’t allow it to be sold in so many countries if they didn’t have relatively sufficient supply?

If and that's a big if, I decide to pre order the iPhone X, if it ends up being more than 2-4 weeks, I will cancel and wait for next years offerings.

My wife and I both have a 7 and 7 plus respectively and the 8/8 plus isn't a big enough difference to make it worth while. It's a marginal upgrade at best imho. The wireless charging isn't an important feature to us. It's not practical for me unless it's at night when sleeping and you still have to buy the pad. I'm guessing the Apple charging pad will be around $150 and I can spend 15 seconds every night plugging my phone into a charger for that savings. Plus who knows when it will be actually released. Might be 6 months from now.

When wireless charging allows your phone to be charged within 15' of the base, that will be when it will be a must have feature. Right now it's a glimic to me and not real world useful.

Let's be real, none of us will have the x in our hands until earliest January 2018. Our orders will instead go to all the celebrities like Kylie Jenner who's gonna flaunt it in our face on instagram. Remember Apple gave her a free iPhone 6 days before the release? I'm already upset thinking about it.

If the wait is over a month for me, I'll try to find in store and cancel order. There are easily 8 stores that I can get to in the DC Metro area.

If you're thinking a majority of people will cancel their phone order. You may be making up some distorted reality based off of macrumors rumors.

That's isn't what he's saying. My wife's 6S was a 4-6 week wait and I was able to grab it in store within 2 weeks. That's what he means

That wasn't what I meant at all. If MY wait is over a month, I'll try to find it at a store and cancel MY order. Some people don't have many Apple stores near them. I do.
