1) Remove the notch. Not sure what Apple was thinking with this.

2) Reduce the bezels more. Still not as bezeless as the S8

3) Remove camera bump

On the fence about the stainless steel sides. I think it looks outdated and cheap on the white versions, but the black version looks ok. Kind of leaning towards the aluminum look though.

On the fence about the glass back. Fingerprint magnet worth being able to wireless charge?

Flat device sides.
It would make it much easier to establish a firm grip on.

It's one of the many reasons I love the 4/4s/5/5s/SE designs.

Quit with the bar of soap routine - Looks Samsungy anyhow

The notch is fine. I actually like it. It will not go away for a long time. Some rumors show galaxy moving the same direction.

They will reduce the bezels more but it’s what .5% less screen to body ratio from the galaxy? I don’t want the edge screens like they have.

IMO the stainless steel gives the X an infinitely more premium look and feel over aluminum iphones in either color.

Fingerprints should not be a design consideration. Wireless charging is very important to some and Apple finally gave it to them. Either way the screen is glass and fingerprinty.

I am pretty sure the notch will go away.

Uniformity is and has always been better / preferred than not.

I love edge to edge. Looks so sleek.

give us a 6" device in the 8 Plus form factor. AKA larger screen.

I'd also like to add my request for a 4.7"-ish screen in the 4" size form factor.

I really hope they make the line with 3 sizes.
There seem to be a wide array of users and desires in that regard

hmmm
i think 'remove notch' and 'reduce bezels' are not going to play nicely together..

basically-- 'remove notch' equals 'add bezel'

I was referring to the side bezels mostly.

That little space in each corner up top is not really adding much usable screen space and is an eyesore.

If anything apple should black out the top corners while keeping the notifications while keeping it still actual screen and when needed for something (not sure what) it can turn off the black background.

oh.. i see.. my bad.

maybe not adding much usable screen space per se but...
it's giving a little parking space for the status info so those things don't have to encroach upon the usable screen space.

i don't really think Apple is going to do that.. they're certainly not embarrassed of the notch and i definitely don't think they're going to try masking it.

i think the only way to get a global setting for masking out the notch with black at all times will be via jailbreak.

(oh-- but yeah.. this thread is about the design changes we would make.. not Apple.. so carry on ;) )

^ You can keep the usuable screen space (for status, notifications, etc) and black out the notch at the same time. While also being able to unblack out the corners for other uses when needed.

Win win in my opinion.

i see what you're saying..
i just think it's going to take a jailbreak to actually get that implemented on an X.

what amazes me is that apple didn't do this already.

for sure more people disproved of the notch than liked it.

i simply think apple wanted an easy way for ppl to differentiate the IPX from other iphones.

I don’t even notice the notch anymore to be honest.

Coming from a 7 Plus, I wish the X screen was the same width as the Plus. Until next year..

People will get use to the notch, but it wont change the fact it makes the phone uniform and is an eyesore for most.

Do you really think Apple designers and engineers sat around a table and said, “you know what would look really nice on our flagship smartphone? A notch at the top of the screen.” The notch is there because it’s necessitated by the sensor array inside. There is an IR camera, visible light camera, speaker, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and flood illuminator in there. Those are what allow FaceID to function, and more importantly allow the iPhone X to function as a phone. This was the best solution to the question of how to incorporate those features into the iPhone X.

Not sure your point.

I am advocating filling in the corners with a black background, not removing those sensors, cameras, etc

Yeah, I don’t think people will even think of it as an eyesore when millions and millions of X’s and future iPhones are everywhere. Remember that people made fun of the iMac’s design when it came out. Now it’s revered as iconic.

I was pretty worried it’d bother me, but it doesn’t at all, and I actually like the design quirk done to fit such advanced tech up there.

eyesore?
come on man.. this doesn't look good to you? it looks awesome to me tbh..

I was thinking of this too. Have the “horn” area black and have the time, signal bars, WiFi, and battery indicators in a white font.

the design of the stainless chassis being the exact same rounded sides as the 6/6s/7/8 was kind of ridiculous. sure its fine for the 6-8 series, but carrying that over to the x and therefore the next how many more years? ay yai yai

they really shouldve redesigned the sides of the x, flat or whatever. seeing the same old rounded edges on the "all new" model is really ughgugughgughth
