I name all my devices after things in the sky.

My networks are named for navigable stars, currently Polaris. Thumbdrives are named for exploratory space missions, so my 32gb usb stick is Voyager, computers get named for major stellar bodies (Altair, Alpha Centauri, Pollux, Alpha Borealis, &c.) and idevices get named for moons or comets (my former iPhone was named - still is but I haven't used it lately - Callisto, iPad is named Triton, and my new 5s is named Hyperion.

Just me being silly. I've always loved astronomy. :)

Titanic.

So that when I'm syncing my phone it will always shows

"Titanic is syncing.."

My Facebook username is Ahontas. So when my friends poke me they see a message that says "You about to poke Ahontas."

It's threads like this that make me significantly more empathetic towards people who see us loyal Apple customers as ****ing Kool-Aid chugging, loons. What did you name your phone? Seriously?

This phenomenon isn't exactly limited to Apple customers. Visit an overclocking forum and you'd see a bunch of funky names for non-Apple computers, smartphones and tablets, too.

Prepare for ridiculousness.

All of my apple devices get names from A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones, for people who have seen the show but haven't read the books). My wifi is Winternet is Coming. My macbook air is Winterfell. My airport extreme is Ice. My last iPhone was Nymeria (silver iPhone 5). My Apple TV is The Night's Watch. But this phone, the 6+ in space grey, is Balerion the Black Dread.

I know I have a problem.

More poor judgement on your part!

My judgment is intact. I like giving my phone a custom name. Maybe try living a little, sourpuss.

It fascinates me what lengths some people will go to in order to make themselves feel superior.

There's a "name" field next to your iPhone in iTunes. Many of us fill it in. I asked what people filled it in with. Reading some big psychological message into that? Kinda says more about you than it does about us.

Lol, true. We use a single iCloud account for Find My iPhone since we tend to misplace our devices often on a daily basis (usually between couch cushions). Kinda hard to find which device is which if they're all named iPhone and iPad. :p
