i was just wondering whats left for apple to do with the iphone.
i mean this year with the iphone 4 they added facetime, and hd recording, along with a nice camera, amongst others.
so those were their selling points for 2010.
now out of interest i wanna know what you guys want or think you will see, in next years new iphone.

I think it's inevitable that we'll see a new Design due to the issues that affect the signal in some areas.

Also better Cameras, as that is always an update.

What about a bigger screen? Have two models with the current sized phone, and a bigger mid phone/tablet phone that Android phones enjoy so much. Not a big fan myself of the bigger ones as it's a mobile phone, not a brick.

I want it to cover the AWS-1 band (1700 MHz up, 2100 MHz down) so that carriers like Wind in Canada and T-Mobile in the USA can use it.

A BIGGER screen!! Omg. 3.5" is starting to become TINY compared to these 4" or bigger screens. How about a 3.7" or bigger with retina display!

    * Notifications
    * iChat
    * Revamp or redesign the OS. Adds some colors or something.

    For starters:

Bigger screen (no more than 4 inches)

REAL multi-tasking (Blackberry and Android have mastered this)

    internal antenna

I think a glass back is a good idea but this time use glass thats not 30x weaker than plastic

completely revamp iPhones 3 year old OS (we basically still have iPhone 2007 OS)

Better push notifications (Blackberry and Andriod have mastered this)

Notification bar (i despise getting a text message and have an annoying pop up window interrupt what I'm doing)

Steve Jobs Apologize to Adobe for his childish behavior and enable Flash on iPhone (HTML 5 is a failure)

Mobile safari used to be the best mobile browser but now its outdated and sub par compared to Web OS, Android and even Windows Phone 7 Browsers

Just use Fring until carriers allow facetime over 3G. Steve said it'll eventually come when the carriers can handle it.

I think i5 will be great. Or why call it i5? We are all hypes. Let's call it just "5".

So, basically you want an Android phone?
I like my iPhone 4 10x more than my android.

(the only thing they really need to change is the antenna in my eyes)

I like everything the way it is right now. Just a few requests:

    - MUCH better battery life. I have 3 car chargers and 2 external battery packs - is this normal?

    - A simple way to view the previous notifications. For example, when you double click the home button, the multitasking bar would come up from the bottom, and a latest notification bar would come down from the top.

Completely new/majorly updated design (all four iPhones look the same to me)

Massively updated interface including loss of the tile system. I'd rather have a home screen more like Android - most used apps, the time, date, weather, upcoming iCal events etc.

Android-like typing suggestions (ie. more than just one likely word)

Greater use of multi-touch (I'd argue the iPhone is just dual-touch)

Nokia-like profiles (so I can easily stop call/text/email alerts through the night but still have my alarm sound in the morning)

Removal of the silent switch (it's too easily switched in the pocket)

New emails showing on the lock screen (like calls and texts do - I don't see why emails are less important)

Location-dependent security (if I'm on my home wifi network, don't activate passcode lock, if I'm not, activate passcode lock)

    Wireless syncing

And that's all just to start with!!

You must NOT have an iPhone 4 because the battery life is amazing.

    4G support

    More free apps

    Full Flash support

Bigger screen < just a lil bit tho

    Full Bluetooth support

    USB port.

More capacity like 64GB. < I have lot of data and music to store

    Wider Wi-Fi range & capability.

    Better Camera and Video recording.

    and plenty of software changes.

what?!?! usb port? a usb is probably frikkin thicker than the iphone itself man...
wider wifi range is legit, but better camera (its already pretty amazing)
and they r gna update anyway, they always do.
flash isnt coming- 99% unless a miracle happens.

and more free apps is for the app store, not the ip5 update :D

Steve Jobs made fun of other smartphones for being too big and bulky. It's clear he doesn't like bigger screens on a smartphone. So get used to it or buy a different phone, they're not going to change the screen size.

hardware is fine for me, improve iOS5

I got to say I am pretty happy with the Hardware, I would like to see improvements on iOS5 more than then phone itself.

    * Better Lock screen (let me display inbox, calendar, weather)
    * Custom sounds (SMS, Email, etc)
    * Manageable Camara roll (Folders, secure folders etc)
    * Icon Placement (let me place my icons anywhere I want, let me have empty spaces)
    * Better google integration (turn by turn google maps, google voice, google reader)
    * Quick Settings (Enable/Disable radios, reboot etc - AKA - SBsettings)

I know most of this can be accomplish by a 3er part app (or jailbreaking), but IMO this is stuff that should be part of the OS (specially a version 4 of "an" OS).

Edit: Actually I would add HSPA+ as a minimum, 4G support would be cool, but looking at the market it would be to early for it.

    New York, Baby!
It'll never happen, but Firewire to come back!

It takes so much longer to sync on USB2 with its theoretical 480mbps.

    More realistic though:

    -1GHz dual core
    -1GB RAM
    -64GB Storage would be nice
-Notifications to be completely overhauled and be more like WebOS than Android
-Facetime to include user presence, IM capability
-wireless sync - would take away the hope for firewire I guess.
-A non conductive coating for the antenna
-More than one carrier in the US

I don't care about Flash, batteries that can be changed and overhauled UI, OSX UI has been pretty much the same since it was first released and there's nothing wrong with that...
