When I get change from a store a usually throw it in the parking lot. Sorry I am a guy--I have no purse and don't need change swishing around in my pockets.

this is how i am, except i use the "take a penny" jar in the store instead..

i really should keep an old jar and start gathering tho, it all adds up..

Tootsie roll jars for storage, than Coinstar for cashing in. Occasionally i'll make rolls and take them to the bank, but it's more of a hassle.

Did you seriously throw out a quarter? I throw my change in a jar and every 6 months or so, I have like $100.
Same here. We collect it for about 6-8 months then cash it in. We get about $250

In the good ol' days, we used to save up for two years in a HUUUUUGE apple juice container and get about $1,500 then use that to go to Disney World.

I keep my change in the car and use it at car washes and drive-thru's. I went through the drive-thru at a Taco Bell once and ordered over $10 worth of food and paid with all change :D

I take it to my bank to cash it in every few months, and like a previous poster said, they don't charge for it like Coinstar. That being said, I have very little use for carrying change and I greatly disdain carrying it in my pocket. Because of that, there seems to be an inordinate amount of change under and around the seats in my car (it will get picked up eventually when I clean it out, at home though, I don't want to put it in one of those $0.75 car wash vacuums that only runs for a few minutes.)

also when i remember, and i try to do so, i leave it in my car's change compartment, it saved me last time i went to oakley their debit card system was down and had 240 bucks cash on me, the sunglasses i wanted came up to 247 i think it was, ran to the car and was saved by my change, had it not been there i would have had to come back next day

i actually really want a wallet with a change pocket, but i havent had one with one of those since my early teenage years,, well i ll be getting anew wallets oon so i ll make sure to get one with that

I use a card holder that has a money clip, so there isn't any room for change. I wouldn't want to carry a wallet larger than I have because I wear dress slacks for work and fraternity activities, and I think a big wallet just looks bad when you wear pants like that.

It's the best wallet that I've owned, much better than the velcro one from high-school that it replaced (it had a coin pouch though)

my parents yelled at me for about 5 minutes because they found a quarter in my trash can..

what do you do with your change?

Sometimes keep it in my change bin in my car (no pennies).
Or leave it in some boxes in my room.
I was actually thinking the other day that I should bring all my coins to one of those coin/cash machines. Wonder how much it would be.

They're usually too busy trying to dodge my coins to talk to me. And even after I stop throwing, they're more interested in yelling at me.

And if many of you are losing your coins under car seats, the couch, etc, how is this any better than throwing it into the bin? Both acts show that you don't care about the coins, so the OP shouldn't get any more grief than someone who's careless about their coins.

Just use them up.

Change

I just keep rolling mine up and shoving it in a box under my bed... last count i was well over a grand. It's such a hassle to deal with it!
:apple:

I normally just dump my change on a table. My wife then dumps it in a box. I then take the said box to a coinstar machine. Last time got £190 back (about six months worth) then that goes towards spending money for our holiday that year.

Im amazed some of you throw your change out...You either have unlimited supplies of money, or just arent frugal.

I throw all mine in a jar, and cash it in once a year. Just cashed some in two months ago, and got back like $250.00 bucks.....

I never use change when i'm out, it's such a hassle to take it our and sort. I always keep it in my pocket and when I get home I throw it in a my big Tootsie Rolls thing. Mines almost full.

Do all banks (I have HSBC) have a coin sorter? and do they all allow customers to use them? I've always rolled them myself it's such a pain. I've never heard or seen people go to the bank with unrolled coins.
