Anyone shave with a brush and a bowl? For the past year or so, I have been using Proraso pre and post cream and Proraso shave cream with a boar's hair brush and bowl.

It is simply awesome, the brush massages your hair and feels so good. I shave my head too, so I use a bit more cream than most other dudes.

I use the Gillette power glide razor. You have to take out a second mortgage to buy a pack of blades, but it is hands down the best razor out there.

Used the brush and bowl many years ago, but with a Gillette safety razor.

Double-edge blade, cheap as Hell.

Only for my face.

Now I use a Big single-blade disposable, with Edge fragrance-free.

And I buzz my head with electric clippers on "zero".

Too lazy to take it down any further with a blade.

Disposables give me razor burn (even the fancy Gillettes) so I switched to a Braun Series 5 years back. That shaver is still going strong and it is the fastest way to get a fairly close shave and it cleans itself. Never going back to a safety razor.

Braun Smartcontrol3. But it's tearing my face apart (even though the blade is not that old), and I'd like an auto-cleaning shaver, so I'll probably get one of the new 3-series.

I've been interested in safety razors, but I'm too scared of slicing my jugular arteries apart :p

Don't be.

As long as you hold the proper angle to your face, and don't go side-ways, you will have no problems.

That's why they called them safety razors in the first place.

Of course you could always go with a straight razor, and a leather strop.

I use a Gilllette Mach 3 type razor (it uses those cartridges) or a Panasonic ES-LA83 electric shaver. It does close shaves. It is also the wet/dry type electric shaver, so I can use it with shaving creams.

On that note, I use Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar shaving soap or Proraso sapone da barba, depending on which one I feel like using on the day.

The Truefitt and Hill stuff is expensive, but it's quality stuff.

Go to the barber and that's the way my shaves are done, with the Proraso sapone da barba con olio di Eucalipto e Mentolo that he uses. It's almost like being in Italy, and the barber I use is Italian. I'd never use that kind of razor at home though.

I use my grandpa's old guillete and regular razor blades. For foam just the one that comes in a can. If I could, I will use a paste to do the foam, however I think I'm very good doing it with the canned one.

It looks like this

Mach 3 razor and some regular shaving cream. I've got about 4 different brands sitting around from having left a newish can at school or home over vacations in college. Somehow they've all stuck around, but I've lost my razor twice. I wind up shaving about every two weeks. Get pretty scruffy in the meantime.

Merkur Futur Adjustable Razor, Badger Brush, Truefitt and Hill 1805 Shave Cream, plus some other pre and after products...

For travel I have an electric shaver I recently picked up, that works both in dry and wet.

Worst thing here is my beard grows so quickly, I've got no other option other than to shave each day. Since I don't have time in the morning, I must do it in the evening.

Still doesn't change the fact that I hate shaving.

Gillette Fusion Power (best shave blade ever) and Sanex Shave Gel (best shave gel ever and I've tried literally 100's)

Shave 3 times a week, and i have a dark shade after 2 days without shaving - but girls seem to like it :p

I shave once a week and use a Braun series 5, works best for me and if you get a higher CC electric shaver the easier it is on your skin as well as a closer shave. :)

I shave in for ~1 minute in the shower. I use a Schick Quattro. I used a Mach 3 from the time they were released, until last year when I forgot to bring my razor on vacation and thought it was the perfect time to try a new brand. :)

EDIT: Double-post. Heh.

I've just started using one of those newfangled Gillete Proglide Power rasors, cuts through face-bush like butter whilst having a shower
