There is virtually nothing I don't like about my iPhone 5S. A larger screen would not be unwelcome but other than that it's hard to think of much.

My battery life has been totally acceptable. And if it gets low I can plug it in for 20-30 minutes when I have some downtime and it's back up to a good level. I also use a car charger when I need to do so. Finally, I carry a spare Mophie battery with me for cases when I can't plug it in.

More battery life would always be welcome of course, just like a car that gets 60 MPG and goes 1000 between fills but you're not likely to get that on a car that performs like a huge sport utility vehicle for utility and drives like a Porsche 911. The iPhone is a high performance tool and it's small so we have to be realistic in our expectations.

I switched back to iPhone from a Motorola Droid Razr last fall and I have never wished for anything more from my phone.

So you plug your phone in throughout the day for 20-30 minutes. Charge it in your car. Carry a back up battery with you. And you find that acceptable? That sounds like a total pita.

----------

Do you all really have that much trouble with battery life??

Exactly. While that's above average people want more then that now.

I do it when I have to, which I normally don't. I'm just saying that I don't find it a burden. If I'm sitting somewhere and I know I'm going to need it charged up I'll plug it in.

No big deal.

That said, I can easily get through the day on a charge. Easily. But I don't like it to get low later in the day due to my job, which can involve being away from a charger for a long time.

The battery life on my phone is totally acceptable, but I like to keep it topped up is what I'm saying.

I gotcha.

I think people in general just care more about function over form. Phone weight has never been a major concern for most so adding significant battery life at the expense of weight would be a welcome change.

iPhones in general are pretty battery efficient. Imagine how long they'd last with the competing brands battery size in it.

I am very happy with my phone, my only gripes are:

1. Battery Life :( (give me a slightly thicker phone with a killer battery any-time)

2. IOS 7 works better than IOS 6 but I miss the non fisher price look a lot.

3. Would like to be able to keep a favorites stored on my phone for find my iphone to keep tabs on the kids. I hate having to key in the apple id and password. The phone is locked so I don't worry about anyone else having access.

Sitting on wifi and barely using the phone is not average usage...

It wasn't on wifi the whole time, just when I took the screenshot, and as you can see, there are 9+ hours of usage. I used it normally for two days and that's what I got.

I have a 4S and the only thing I can complain about is the battery. I bought my 4S as soon as it came out around October of 2011.

-It's back is completely shattered, gives it a unique look and doesn't lose functionality. I don't care.
-Lock button barely works, I use assistive touch and a firm push makes the button work, I got used to pressing it down firmly, it doesn't have the clicky feeling anymore it's flush against the body.
-It's got a lot of dents and scratches at all four corners of the body.
-I am happy with the speed (using 7.1) That extra couple of seconds won't make me gain anything. Plus it's got all of the major functionalities of existing iPhones. Previously if you had the 3G you didn't have video, if you had the 3GS you didn't have the front facing camera etc. Extra features of the 5S such as the fingerprint and burst mode or slow-mo is trivial if you ask me.

Despite all of this only thing I am upset about is the battery. I have to charge it at least 3 times a day. 2 with light use. I don't game, I only check social media and chat on WhatsApp, occasional snapchat etc. So I wouldn't say it's heavy or moderate use.

Not only the battery life is short, it also has weird habits. Even if my phone is at ~40%, taking a photo usually makes the phone turn off and give a low battery warning, not to turn on again for at least 30 minutes. If the weather is cold any my phone got cold as well, it just turns off, again giving the low battery warning. I have followed all the battery saving tips etc but it doesn't help. I am destined to walk around with a charging cable in my jacket's pocket and an additional battery pack iPhone case. I don't know what to do when the weather gets better and I don't have to carry a jacket anymore, I can barely find space for my keys.

So if you ask me, Apple shouldn't even bother making the iPhone 6 thinner. they should shrink the components as much as they can still and make the body as thick as the 4S if necessary, then fill the rest with batteries. I want an iPhone that can get through 24 hours with extreme heavy use under all conditions. Only then it will become the perfect phone. It's almost as if I am an electric car user with range anxiety.

I'm sure the vast majority of iPhone users can relate with me on this.

I have to be honest: I like my iPhone and still think it is the best phone on the market, but there are two field where it can and it should be better.
A slightly bigger screen (the sweet spot is 4.5-4.7" for me) and an higher resolution to keep at least the same PPI.

Love my phone but battery life is the problem for me as well. Went to Apple, apparently I have less than 80% life left after only seven months usage. Sucks.

If it's less than 80% they are going to replace your battery under warranty

1. Lack of swype. This is driving me away from iOS more than anything.
2. Lack of global (system wide) graphic equalization for sound. Android had this 3 years and 4 months ago with the release of 2.3. WTF Apple?

Everything else I can work around.

Adding both of these things to iOS would take exactly 1 day. The software was written years ago. They are purposely keeping it out, why? I have no idea.

If they decide not to put this into iOS8 I'm going to have to go back to Android (or Windows?). I don't want to, but those two things are ridiculous to continue to keep out and they're making me crazy.

Hey Apple, here's an Idea: stick those two things into the next beta just for the heck of it and see what people think.

lol, I think you're a little mistaken about how easy software features are to implement.

I'm surprised crappy battery life is still so prevalent. I had the issue when I upgraded to iOS7 on my iPhone 5. Battery drained like 10% every 15 minutes or so. I then let battery drain completely to zero and recharged. Did this 2x. Then turned off parallax and all the other useless background processing things and did the various iOS updates and battery life returned to normal right away. I can get a good day of constant use out of it with wifi or LTE and bluetooth on. Or, on regular usage, I can get about 2 days with one charge.

Nope. He said they won't replace it until it hits a certain level (on the diagnostic the replacement point looked to be just above 50%). Although he said because I have AC+ I'll be fine - it won't make it two years.

Return immediately to the Apple store and speak with a manager: according to their own website, iPhone 's batteries are designed to hold 80% of original maximum capacity up to 500 cycles ... If you are at 80% before 500 cycles, as I presume you are, they HAVE TO service your iPhone.

In this specific case, for swype, I am not. Look it up. The software was written years ago. They could toss it on a beta as a keyboard option this evening.
