What do you think about iOS 7?

Overall I like iOS7 there are just a few things that I wish they would have done. I liked the quick tweet and quick post from the notification center in 6 a lot and I miss that. I also wish they would come up with a way for quick replies for texts, where a small window pops up and you dont have to leave your current app just to reply to a message. I also think the notification window that pops up when you get something new is a little too big imo.

Perhaps that's a differentiator. On the iPad mini the the thin text on so much white is very hard to read. For now BOLD option will have to do.

After 4 days I still like the look of iOS 6 but some of the underlying functions of 7 are pretty nice. 7 is definitely an acquired taste for many.

Cheers,

Hopefully the next gen iPad mini will have retina display :)

It's no longer an iPhone. It's something from Bill Gates or the people at Android. Now my email staggers when I try to scroll through messages. The type is hard to read (and I don't want to customize it). I have stuck with the iPhone despite the fact that I think its screen is too small but honestly there is little separating this hunk of metal from the others, except that it is often smaller than others. The 'it's all good' Kool-aid drinking crowd here love everything Apple does, and I was one of them for years. But, you can't replace a visionary with a supply chain efficiency expert, and expect visionary products to follow. I no longer own an iPhone. I own a Windows product in disguise. I know that because it works, looks, and just interacts with the same awkward, goofy, prissy ineptitude that the last six iterations of Windows has: only at least with Microsoft, their obsolescence is planned.

Why did you feel the need to write a dramatic break-up letter? No one is going to convince you to stay because you've already made up your mind about us "Kool-Aid" drinkers. Go enjoy your Windows phone.

I think Ives is a talented hardware designer, but when It comes to this stuff he's a total nincompoop .

They improved the functionality quite a bit it seems

Does anyone else have the issue where using wallpapers from your photos the "move and scale" function doesn't do anything?

I can pinch and adjust all I want and it just bounces back to the bigger, slightly blurry version.

Cheers,

Do you earn your living by drinking the stuff? Why would you care either way? Everyone has a right to their opinion. Cheers.

I hear what you're saying however its just not that serious honestly.

Hate it

It ruined my phone and ipad. The whole no going back policy is bs. As someone who waited on line for the iphone 4 overnight and have the 5 and ipad, iam furious! If there is no way back to io6 I will sell my apple products and will never buy another apple product again

I love some of it, but I can't handle certain parts of iOS 7.

I'm not concerned about myself though, it's people who have difficulties with reading. My girlfriend has dyslexia and also gets travel sickness really easily- she used to be able to sit on a bus and at least send me messages from her iPhone. Now, with the super-thin fonts, glaring white backgrounds and control elements, she can't handle using her iPhone while travelling at all anymore.

It's good. Fantastic update however I personally can't wait for iOS 7.0.2 or 7.1 because hopefully that will fix many many pesky bugs we have in 7.0.0

iOS 7 Suck!!

I am iPhone user since we have iPhone 3 in the market. I am neutral Mobile User, no matter what make, for me the phone that works best is good. I did not like the new iOS 7 in terms of its looks, Yes they added some features that were actually missing as compared to Android... so in my opinion they are just catching up with what is available in the market and not anything innovative.

I think iOS 7 is way behind what Android has to offer to the users. The first thing about the new iOS is the LOOK... It looks childish, inconsistent and lacks the solid look that it had earlier. I favor the new trend of flat icons and design but not that flat to look like childish... If you like to see the flat icons, see Windows 8 Mobile OS.. they have all the icons FLAT but consistent, that shows someone has put a lot of time and efforts to design the complete OS,.. whereas iOS, it simply lacks the professional approach and I think its the FIRST OS that does NOT LOOK "APPLE" it looks alien to Apple look...

About iPhone 5S, what is so innovative in there? to drive 9 or 10 million people to buy it off the shelf in first 3 days of launch? in technology, it does not even compete with Samsung S4 .. Again, I am not Samsung Fan, I am a USER... and I still have iPhone 4 with me that I just use for Alarm now... and I am using Samsung S4 as daily phone.

As long as iPhone continues to have that sticky ONE button functionality, I will never switch back to it... once you use Android device, you will know what I am talking about. The "Back" and "Menu" touch buttons are crucial elements to make best user experience... and that is missing in iPhones...

Apart from that, I feel a real jail broken when I switched to Android Devices, that I NO LONGER HAVE TO BE SLAVE to ITUNES... for me its BYE TUNES.. I can now add anything to my mobile by just using USB cable that nowadays everyone has for one or more devices at home... so I am not handicap anymore... If I run out of battery, I can use the spare one without adding or attaching anything on the phone,. So for me, the detachable battery and micro SD card option is the real thing!

So to those who still thinks that iPhones or the New iOS is great, please grow up!

Thanks for reading!

Though I have a 5 and 5S, I also have an old 4 sitting around and so I decided to test out iOS 7 on that device too. IMO it should have never been released for the 4, and should of been exclusively for the 4S and up. It's clear that the only reason that it's available for the 4 is because they still sell it brand new in China, and therefore the update has to be available for all iphone 4 owners. It's a very poor decision on Apple's part and they do it because there are naive people in certain countries that wanted the cheapest iphone possible ( iphone 4) without realising just how terrible the experience is on that device running ios 7. I truly feel sorry for the people that were enthusiastically saving to buy an iphone 4 (to whom may have been a lot of money) only to get severely short changed.

Still adopting to the new design. Functionality wise I'm happy with it, not a big fan of the colors but It's nice :)

Bold: Cliché FUD comparisons with an insulting concluding line, dude (or dudette) I'm all grown up and love my iphone 5 and think ios 7 is great so get your paycheck from Ballmer and Lee Kun-Hee and run along then.

Since you own the iPhone 4 you should have been well aware of Apple's policy of ceasing to sign older versions of iOS after the release of a new version - similar to other corporations like Sony, Microsoft etc.

This raises the question: Why did you not do a full backup of of your phone and apps and save your shsh blobs with Tiny Umbrella prior to updating just in case the new OS was a dud? If you had kept your blobs you could still restore iOS6 on your iPhone 4 as an exploit on that phone still makes it possible. Anyone with a 4S or 5 is SOL, however.

Could have been better. Can't wait for the jailbreak to appear, to correct all the little annoyances!

Well, your reply shows how grown up you are. Loving something does not mean that the thing you love is great :)

Tell me how would you kill the camera switch from the lock-screen if I don't want it there for whatever reason.? and yes I don't want to put it under restricted applications either. Any thoughts? Dude or Dudette? I have list of more such glitches....

I don't get any paycheck from Bruce Lee or Ballmer, but I get what I want using a better device and a better OS.

Good luck with your Why5 and I lost 7 :)

for all you non - developers what do you think? About ios 7?

s-u-c-k-s(the icons atleast)

It just looks a bit childish, compared to iOS 6 and below.Apple needs to put more glamour into it >.>
The weather application is sweet though, and so does the wallpaper.

I cant wait for jailbreak,to correct the music app and icons, they both are a little....wierd

Looks like I hit a nerve. :D :D Given your tone and name calling any valid points you may have had are lost and everyone can clearly see who is less mature and trolling. Case closed.

You're funny. I'm pretty sure when you switch to Android/Windows Mobile you will enjoy it for a few months and say how great it is and how much better it is than the iPhone and then after a few months of use once you dig in you will find a lot of things you DON'T LIKE and a few months later this same topic will come up on the Android/Windows Mobile forums about how you're leaving "them" to come back to Apple.

Good luck to you I hope you find your "dream" phone.

I've owned iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 and also several Android devices and a few Windows phones and while there are many things I prefer about iOS-based phones I have come to prefer Android for my primary phone (Windows is nice in that all my docs work and Outlook and great with work e-mail but not enough apps). It's much more flexible, and allows me to easily upgrade the memory or access the files directly. This flexibility and most of the Apps I like are available on Android. Besides, I'm really tired of the small iPhone screen.

Throughout the years I go back and forth and would actually prefer iOS and that ecosystem but there are just too many tradeoffs for me.

I still have an iPad mini after selling my 3 & 4 but it's only use is iMessage, Verizon tethering and accessing apps that only work on iOS. I use a full Windows 8 Tablet when I can get full computer access to the files and programs I need in a 1.3 lb package.

While the person you're responding to may be back, he may also leave again. The lack of choice and flexibility from Apple is an issue for some of us. It's an issue Apple is not concerned with so I live with it and act accordingly.

Arguing about features that in many cases can be liked or disliked on a purely subjective basis is really pointless. Bringing perceived limitations or flaws to light so others may benefit is what these forums are for.

Cheers,
