What do you think about the EarPods?

But for the price you can pay for the current apple earphones, you can get other ones that sound miles better. Sennheiser CX300's can be bought for about the same price from some places. The standard ipod ones can't touch them for quality.

I'm not expecting these to beat anything like the sennheisers though, it would just be nicer if they sounded better than the current ones for the same price. However, I get a feeling that they will either be same quality for the same price, or higher quality for a larger price. Most likely the latter...
How the hell do you know they sound better without even listening? Talk about being a sucker for marketing.

I assume most people haven't heard them yet, so this poll is almost pointless and shows how many people vote without listening to them.

There's no way to tell until more people own them.
Exactly. People like to pretend they know $h1t when all they really know is how well the marketing team is doing. In fact, 99.9% of people who talk about headphones have never A/Bed a pair of headphones in their lives, so shouldn't even be saying anything.

I placed an order through apple.com and received the earpods yesterday. They are a HUGE improvement over the old earphones in every way that I can think of. I A/B'd them to the set I rec'd with my iPhone 4S and they sound much better with more pronounced bass. I never really had a problem wearing apple headphones in my ears for long periods of time (I guess I was lucky) but these feel drastically more comfortable than the older model. The part that fits in your ear is one solid smooth piece so it's nice not to worry about ear junk accumulating anywhere. Also, the buttons feel better now. It's hard for me to describe but they feel more "responsive" and easier to click/push.

I'll be testing them more on my morning run today based on my initial impressions I don't expect to encounter any issues.

They're still not close to my high-end headphones but there is a remarkable improvement over the old one's.

Ummm, because I was referring to the ones that have already been out for years, which I have, and the sennheisser CX300's, which I also have... I can't see how marketing comes into the equation of comparing the sound of 2 different types of headphones that I happen to own...

Is that "Huge Improvement" in terms of fitness or sound?

Both, to be honest. The more I've been using them, the more I think that they really do sound great for "cheap" headphones that they're giving away with every iPhone or iPod. I'm by no means an audiophile, and I'm not largely picky about sound, but I have had earbuds in the past that have just sounded terrible to me. These really do impress me with their sound. And, like I said, they fit my ears a lot better and don't fall out anytime I move my head around like the old ones did. I've gone running with them and they stayed put in my ears, which is something the old ones never ever would have done for me.

Got them today. On about my second hour of listening to music (Apple Lossless format on an iPod Classic), and spent about half hour on the phone.
One of my big gripes with Apple has been the mediocre earbuds they've been providing in the past, so I had high hopes for an improvement to match the quality of their other products.
My first impression was underwhelming, and outright disappointment.
First, they didn't stay in my ears as well as promised, especially the left one.
I thought I must be a freak, considering the claim of scanning hundreds of ears to develop the fit.
And the sound seemed tinny.
(I had just spent a couple hours before listening on some Phillips earbuds, which, though inexpensive, I am very happy with.)
My impression is getting revised upwards.
They are staying in quite well, even with gentle tugs on the cord.
And the balance of the sound is starting to grow on me. Pretty good bass response (I'm not an audio expert, just know what I like), mids and highs.
I think I will like them even more after more use.
Phone call fine, but that's a no-brainer.
Certainly a major improvement. I can see getting another pair already.
The carry case is appreciated, but a little hard to open.
BTW and FWIW, I wrote this without reading the prior usage reviews.

These new Earpods are so fkin comfrtable and feel light as feathers and I think much lighter than the previous generation not that the former was heavy.

Sound is much better, though still could be labeled as mediocre. Makes me want to use these sommuch more than my Beats Tours cuz even though they hav worse sound, they r so light nd comfortable to use I dont feel anything in my ears.

Not the cliched"I feel like there is nothing in my ears" but really these feel lik nothing.

Edit: im not an audiophile but wow these earpods sound so much better on my macbook pro than on my iphone 4, hope the iphone 5 can yield better sound lik the mbp cuz da difference is significant b/w phone and notebook

Thank You for the reviews. I might have to go pick up a pair and try them for myself. I have yet to find a good comfortable pair of ear buds that stay in while running or playing soccer.

I liked they way they fit in my ears they are comfortable and even doesn't hurt after using them for more than couple of hours. They are light and cable is smooth soft.

I also liked the button click response they are perfect, Button click response is better than B&W P5 i have.

They don't cancel background noise but i didn't expect them to cancel either.

Honestly I didn't mind the earphones I have that came with my last iPod Touch purchase years ago. They're nice for when you're just listening to music around people, as you can just have one ear in and have the music on quietly. I used them at the gym a few times and never had issues with them coming out. Accidentally cut mine in half while holding my keys in the same hand.

I'm just looking forward to having headphones I can wear casually - I have Bose Companion 5 desktop speakers and Beats Studio headphones for when I want real sound quality.

Honestly, they sound WAY better than the old headphones. I think a lot of you guys are going to love them. Kinda amazed that they are only $29.

Just got mine yesterday, much better than old buds. Push button controls much better as well is the sound.

Damn, those are some sharp keys!

I bought a pair today from my local Apple Store, because I lost my old ones...

They're ace! I was blown away by how much better they sound by the old style ones, and how much more comfortable they when you wear them.

I'd recommend them to anyone. They're an excellent pair of portable earphones for £25.

FWIW, I compared an old set of apple buds that I had put some Jabra eargels on, which also direct the sound into the ear canal, and they sounded surprisingly a lot like the new earpods.

Mine should be delivered tomorrow. Hope they are good. The previous ones were not up to scratch and this will confirm to me that Apple still make good accessories after the awfulness of the Smart case for the iPad.

I picked a set up from the Apple Store on my lunch break (Bethesda Row had a ton, they seem to be readily available even though in store pickup isn't available for online orders). So far they sound good, but not amazing. Works better than the previous ear buds.

Sound is not quite as good as the monoprice over-the-ear headphones I had been using before, but more comfortable (the monoprice ones made the top of my head slightly sore after using them for a while) and they don't completely block all background noise, which is a plus after not noticing coworkers come into my office a couple times a day. I'd consider wearing these while out for a walk, where the over-the-ears were completely inappropriate. No danger of falling out in my apparently standard shaped ears.

Worth the $30 for sure, but I wouldn't pay a whole lot more for them.

I think that the EarPods look great. The current earbuds hurt my ears after a while. I will just have to wait and see, since it is almost impossible to judge right now.

But where your coworkers disturbed? Can they hear the music you're listening to? Sound leakage or anything?

No, but I don't have the volume turned up very loud. I can take them out of my ears and set them on the table in front of me without hearing anything, so leakage isn't an issue for me regardless of shape.

I plan on using them at the house when i'm working out on the yard or maybe watching a movie in bed before bed so i dont wake up the wife. Stuff like that. I have

Just got mine. I have the previous apple headphones and although they weren't bad they weren't in the same league as some of the higher end headphones.

I have a pair of B&O headphones but didn't have the model with the mic which I find essential with Siri and controlling music. I wasn't about to pay another £120 so took a punt on these as it looked like Apple had actually invested a bit of time in developing these.

So glad I did as the tones are crisp and the base is good. I would have paid between £50 - £70 for these with no issue.

Fantastic

p.s. your first option on the poll is ridiculous. I wanted to vote Great Headphones, Great Sound.
