A redesign with better hand ergonomics and the end of the 16gb 'entry' level phone.
The usual improved camera and possibly some eye tracking software enhancement that Samsung tried but did not fully succeed with.

I was intents to say 6P

Oh... gotcha. Haha, ok- that makes a little bit more sense! =P
Not THAT much though.
The only spec the op mentioned that the 6P has is quick charging (via usb-c).
It is NOT waterproof or water resistant
It does NOT have no bezel or even small bezels
It does NOT have inductive charging
Soooo... in a nutshell: your advice to someone hoping for those features in an iPhone 7 to "just go ahead and buy a 6P now instead" is really, really, really terrible advice!

It does not have jnductive charging that I know, it does have spilt resistance I believe. And bezel is certainly smaller than iPhone 6S, especially top and bottom.

I agree Nexus 6P might not have all the things that poster want and it is not great suggestion. You are right.

Just go buy Nexus 6P, you will get most of them.. beside Inductive charging... Boy, you do want Android phone... Most of the things Apple would never or gonna take them forever to get. If iPhone 7 get Fast Charging, then it would have any of remaining, what else would Apple milking you later?
I did and I love my 6p.

I can't use android, it's not for me.

I don't get it.

You may be overthinking it here but apparently you like to type so there's nothing wrong with typing practice.

The main reason people buy cell phones is to be able to use them as cell phones.

So the "main selling point" is ... well you can figure it out probably. Let me know if you need more help.

Oh, I get it now.
You thought you were being funny... gotcha.
Hmmm.
Missed the mark, because that is NOT the "main" thing people use a smartphone for. That is an absolutely ridiculous statement. I bet for every 1 minute most people spend talking on their smartphones, they spend 1 hour doing something else, completely unrelated.
Your comment would've made sense in 2007. Today it fell flat, was unclear, and now that you've explained it.... still ludicrous.

with lotta people saying the camera has only improved ever so slightly since the 5 or 4S I think camera would be one

New colors like blue? Thinner bezel?

Other than that, Apple could add something to hardware like virtual buttons like Android phones. Apple could bring it even further to implement 3D Touch. Who knows? Since Apple now has 3D Touch, home button could be eliminated. Maybe gestures can be used to exit an app.

Oh, I get it now..

Well apparently not. Since about 1997 ish cell phones started being able to also do text messages. People started using them to make phone calls and text message etc. Over time other apps also snuck in but I think text messaging is still very popular.

People will buy an 7 because it's a cell phone ( substitute in smart phone if you want ) and because it's an apple and well it works really well.

Let me know if you need more help here.

I have had smart phones since they came out and specifically iPhones since the 3GS. Initially I used the phone as a phone mostly. But since that time until now - I've gone totally the other way. I use my phone as a phone probably less than 1% of total usage. My highest usage is with surfing the net, reading books, messaging and emails. This past month with 5 days left in my billing period, I've used 13 minutes of talk time and have almost 5000 rollover minutes.

So I can agree that while it is a phone, for a lot of users it may be the least used function.

You can pretend all you want and act as silly as you want... =D
The FACT is: when the question was posed: "what hot new feature do you think the iPhone 7 has that will compell people to buy it?", nobody but the incredibly daft would think that "making a phone call" would be an appropriate answer.... as any 1 cent phone can make a phone call- yet many pay far more to own the latest iPhone.
I actually have confidence in you... I do NOT believe that you were confused by the question. (especially since nobody else was). I believe you made a little unfunny & now for whatever bizarre reason are trying to defend your "position" that the main selling point of the brand new iPhone 7 will be the fact that it makes phone calls... yes- that alone will be enough for people to pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars, get up early to wait in lines, sign new two year contracts, etc... the fact that a new phone is coming out that can MAKE PHONE CALLS!
C'mon... you simply must understand how ridiculous you sound, yeah?
Now, I'm not sure what the killer feature will be- USB C quick charging would be a good one, or this multiple lens camera we've heard teased, maybe the phones shrinking a bit w/ same size screen by way of reducing the bezel... the only thing I'm SURE of is that not a single person will ask "does it also make phone calls, like every other phone on the planet?" & that Tim will not be reiterating the fact that this model will indeed still make calls, when he introduces it, as 1) everyone already knows that and 2) nobody cares... because: (hopefully for the last time) THAT IS SIMPLY NOT THE MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE PHONE SO PLEASE QUIT SAYING THAT!!!!!!!!

Thank you SO much!!!
Sorry Hurley is trying to derail the conversation the rest of us are having with regards to what amazing new feature our sweet high-end portable mobile communications & computing devices will be graced with by the end of the year, in an attempt to talk about the single most boring & unchanged function they have.
I get the idea that the entire point of this post (to guess what BRAND NEW feature it will have) has for whatever reason, escaped him!!

I will go with waterproof and the new design. I can see Apple focusing their marketing on taking pictures in a pool, under water. I would love to see the finger print scanner in the screen, however I don't think this will happen for the 7. If it does then that would definitely be a big feature.

Obviously it will be a gorgeous new design. More screen, less bezel. But I don't think that they will eliminate the "home" button. It's kind of a signature look for the iPhone. I'll be a little taken back of they do. Another thing I understand but don't think it's a big deal, waterproofing. To me, it doesn't matter too much. Owning an iPhone since the 3G, I've never had an issue with water. Though I understand a lot of people damage their phones in the water.

I would really like to see a removal of the home button or some sort of 3D Touch home button implementation, along with a bezel reduction. The performance is great on the 6s/6s+, but I would like to see 3 GB of RAM in the Plus model (which I doubt will happen.) I'd like to see the Plus get a 1440p display and the standard model get a 1080p display. Other than that, a redesign will happen which I am excited about, and I hope to see the dropping of the 16 GB model.

Oh and one more thing: add front facing speakers! I seriously can't live without them after being spoiled by the Nexus 6 and it's amazing front facing speakers!

That's a good request! It's certainly possible, especially since they seem to be taking sound more seriously after the iPad Pro's stereo speakers.

I'm not trying to contradict people like yourself who care about speakers, but for me, my phone and tablet are used for my own personal media enjoyment. That being said, 99% of the time audio is coming through earbuds/headphones, so speakers will never be a selling point or deal breaker for me. But I will be quite put off if they got rig of the headphone port as some rumours suggest.

Dont think you can keep the home button and shrink the bezels. one has to go.
