The home button will go, but probably not until the iPhone 8ish.

When you use the Nexus 6P, you realize how much of a difference bezels or lack thereof makes.

I would say that physical design will be the biggest feature of upcoming iphone 7. But I also read that new i phone 7's screen size will be only 4.7 inch for iphone7 and 5.5 inch for 7 plus. So I doubt over its success as I phone 6 and 6+ have quite bigger screen.

The iPhone 6(s) and 6+(s) have 4.7 and 5.5" screens respectively. That would mean the 7 and 7+ would have the SAME screen size.

I'd plump for...
  • New physical design; smaller bezels, not thinner
  • Larger internal battery, increased battery life
  • Headphones powered / charged via lightening port
  • No audio-jack; audio is wireless and via lightening port
  • Home button redesigned but still present
  • Water resistant
  • 1080p display
  • Expensive

1) Smaller bezel
2) Fast charging
3) Wireless charging
4) Custom theme or something that makes the phone more alive. Hate my 6S plus compared to my LG G4 in that area.
5) Something unexpected UI related. The whole icon thing is getting seriously boring.

With 3D Touch, there's not much need for the physical home button anymore, right?

The operational uses like hard restarts could be remapped to the volume buttons, couldn't it?

1) Eliminate the front button -- swipe from edge to do the same tasks
2) In-screen thumb print reader
3) Smaller bezel
4) Base model memory upped to 32GB
5) IR capability

I have stopped using the home button for app switching and use 3D Touch instead. It was hard to get it right at first, but now it is becoming second nature.

I agree that the home button should go. But they must have some on screen area for Touch ID and Apple Pay.

1. More colors: Black, Almost Black, Close to Black, and Nearly There White
2. Taller and bigger - as usual.

iPhone 3G: 3G connectivity
iPhone 4: new design architecture/Retina display
iPhone 5: LTE
iPhone 6: bigger screens
iPhone 7: ?

So far, I would say the iPhone 4 was the iPhone with the most "surprise features" (not counting the leak). For the others, we knew what was coming.

The iPhone 7 rumors are all over the place, so it's kind of nice not to know exactly what to expect!

EDIT: It better be a good one, it's the 10th iPhone.
If what I've read in several places is accurate then I'm not to crazy about the idea of them eliminating the 3.5 headphone jack. To me, BT doesn't provide as good of quality sound than hard wired. Secondly, I'm more of a over the ear headphone person as to me it provides a better dynamic range to my ears, so even if they include BT earbuds...I'm out on that idea, just won't use them. They definitely need to do something about the battery life. Need to work on the camera quality a bit. Like the idea of centering the camera lens. It seems to me that going with a thinner design is good from an esthetic point of view but it seems like it would make a very expensive device rather vulnerable to becoming damaged.

Bigger..better and still a phone...

Yes exactly. People buy cell phones because they work as phones plus do other things.

People buy iPhones because Apple does an excellent job at innovating and for many some amount of brand loyalty.

It's really not hard to understand eh?

All the ideas here are not really making the iPhone better. I don't care if the display is OLED or the resolution of it nor of the camera. The memory is also enough and speed is good as well. Waterproof is nice, but also not innovative.

Let's think how the iPhone can become outstanding from the competition!
I'd like to see a built-in DVB-T2 receiver. DVB-T2 is now available almost worldwide. That would allow to watch Free TV anywhere you go or recording any channel you like. Back home you can play the recordings or stream them via Airplay to your Apple TV. Maybe there are even some pay-TV channels that could be received and recorded.
THIS is unique and a real premium-feature! A personal "carry with you" TV and PVR feature inside the iPhone!

If this was a few years ago, I'd agree. Apple hasn't done an "excellent" job at innovating, they've been playing catch up for a while now.

I read a rumor that the iphone7 will not have a headphone plug. BIG MISTAKE! If true Why does Aplle keep taking away items that make sense and are useful. I have a bluetooth headphone device and bluetooth devices have to be recharged all the time. I prefer my "old fashion" headphone that I plug in. Why make my life even busier and more complicated than it already is? I'm so discouraged with all these so called progressive ideas that make my electronic life even more complicated. I hope this rumor is NOT true. My phone is just a year old now.. Not planning to lay out any more money for another phone anyway. I think the new models come too close in time to be practical. My biggest fear, as with the computers, that my phone will be limited by future changes almost forcing some of us to upgrade when is we don't have to or want to. I hope that is not the case. My hsuband has had it with his phone. He wants to get a non Apple phone nexttime. Don't forget Steve Jobs wanted apple to be "for the rest of us" but what does the rest of us mean anymore? I would rather have a newer computer with touch capabilities, an internal dvd option, more color like they used to be, and option for larger not smaller screens they way we used to have them. I rue the day my 17inch computer dies.

I want to charge the iPhone the same way the Apple Watch gets charges. No cable!

And the iPhone has the same and more features as the Nintendo Wii game controllers, so why not enable it to see the gameplay on TV (maybe through Apple TV and Airplay) while the iPhone acts as a game controller? Or even multi-player with multiple iPhones and the main display of the gameplay is on the TV...

As ALWAYS, the biggest selling point of all is quite obvious.

Simply the name: Apple's iPhone 7. That's all you need for mass purchases and product shortages.

The features take a secondary seat to the name.

now I get to even more ideas that are easy for Apple to do and are unique with cheap and simple hardware additions. Software can easily be copied by others, but innovative hardware features need more time for the competition to copy.

Maybe Apple wants to hear my ideas? If so, send me a private message throught the forum ;-)

I actually wonder when they are going to drop the number. iPhone 14 is going to sound really dumb. They could switch to either iPhone 2016 numbering, or just iPhone (same as Macbook Air isn't officially called Macbook Air 5s or Macbook Air 2015 until you go to About This Mac).
