Since I use mine at work and home..
Use windows 7 for:
IE - usability testing
Network Administration, since short of RDP'ing into a server I like to have the tools handy. Most of the third party stuff I have is all Win with no OSX versions available.
MS Visio. Omnigraffle Pro is alright, but it's no Visio
MS Project -
Full Sharepoint 2010 integration

Thinking of going back to windows completely. Love apple hardware but like windows better. Osx is very nice though.

Believe it or not. Some Korean websites are not compatible with the Mac's browser. Also, I cannot get free access to FON under Mac OS.

Hey guys, I installed Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro last night and I became curious to find out what you guys use Windows 7 for.

For me, my primary thing is gaming with PC only games. Not all games since I have an Xbox 360 to handle that.

Also, you're more than welcome to recommend programs you use on Windows 7.

At the moment, Snow Leopard is the only operating system on my iMac. I used to have a Windows partition on my Macs to play STALKER or some other Windows-only games that I own.

But since most of my games either run on OS X or on my Xbox 360 (which, thanks to Dr Bott, now uses the 27" iMac as its display), and most of the programming tools that I use are multi-platform, I only have very limited use for Windows on my iMac.

My company notebook runs Windows 7 exclusively, though, and I use it at least as much as my Mac. It has the advantage that it is mobile and that somebody else paid for it. ;-)

I use Windows 7 for everything on my MBP.

Really? 100% Windows / no OS X on a MBP? How's that working out for you? I'm thinking of following your lead except for a small OS X partition for iOS dev work.*

(*Specifically the new 13" with 2.7Gz i7 hypertreaded x dual-core. I'm not sure if it'd have enough power to replace my Windows Core 2 Duo, so it might only be for dev work and a idle most of the time.)

I use it for OneNote and that's about it. I started using OneNote when I was an undergrad and now I can't stop. I tried the notebook view in Word for Mac but OneNote just has me hooked.

I run the following on Win 7:

Visual Studio 2010 - for web and game development.
SQL Server 2008 R2 (Developer edition) - for dev also.
Games - Preloaded Dragon Age 2 just today. :)
Office 2010 (I also have Office 2011 for mac).

I installed Win7 with bootcamp. But I normally use Vmware Fusion to run the bootcamp partition as a VM. Only time I boot windows natively is to run games.

I only use Windows on my work computer, and I would never even think about using it on my MBP :D Mac OSx is more intuitive, faster, and it doesn't leave me frustrated like Windows always did. My only regret is not switching years ago.

I have Windows 7 running in Parallels on my MBP for QuickBooks and MS Access. Once and a while there are those Windows-only little apps that do something I need too.

Since I upgraded to 8GB of memory, I pretty much leave 7 running all the time.

most of the stuff i do in excel for calculus classes require the windows version of excel. and i have dvd fab.

This is great feedback, really seeing a pattern in that finance and gaming are good on Windows. If you guys were to recommend any programs for stock exchanging, what would you use?

I don't use Windows on my Mac, I have Win7 on my media pc, but I only use it for media and downloads.

It is in storage at the moment, so am doing all my media consumption on my Mac, iPad and iPhone.

Windows exclusive games
Web sites that require ActiveX controls
Microsoft Office

Onenote, Quickbooks and some games.

I'm a Network Engineer so I use Windows 7 to console into Cisco equipment...using SecureCRT. Currently SecureCRT is only in Beta version for Mac OS X :(.

You realize you can use terminal for that, right? I do it daily...SSH right into Cisco Switches, Routers, FW's, WAPS...

Just sayin...

I basically have it "just in case" and also so I can stay in the know. most of my friends/family and work still use windows.

I just switched to mac and it's nice to have windows just hanging out there for the rare occasion that I might need it. Options are always nice. I actually just installed it and tried it for the first time last night. I really like the "snap" features for your windows. i will also probably get the windows version of office.
