Gaming mostly...

Right now it's Starcraft 2 and the Crysis 2 demo.

If you have the high end 15", do yourself a favor and download the Crysis 2 demo. It looks amazing.

I boot into Windows 7 a couple of times a week to
1) Play some super Civilization 4 mods (they don't work in OS due to customized dlls which won't be ported over)
2) Run a couple of geocaching programs

Basically that's all.

Games mostly. My windows drive on my desktop is basically a dumpster - I don't take care of it (out of that habit now that I use OS X) as much as I should and let all the crap pile up and eventually reinstall it. I keep OS X nice and tidy though.

1) Games
2) Frontpage - unfortunately the only way to edit my work intranet site, which is running some outdated rubbish. No file access or FTP or anything.. Only proprietary m$ rubbish..

I use windows 7 to download music via ares, to use Sony soundforge, Microsoft visual studio 2010, and for torrents since I don't want to taint my Mac with potential spyware

I didn't think Macs could get spyware.

Really? 100% Windows / no OS X on a MBP? How's that working out for you? I'm thinking of following your lead except for a small OS X partition for iOS dev work.*

(*Specifically the new 13" with 2.7Gz i7 hypertreaded x dual-core. I'm not sure if it'd have enough power to replace my Windows Core 2 Duo, so it might only be for dev work and a idle most of the time.)

Yes. I use only Windows on my MBP through BootCamp although I kept a very small partition for Mac OS that I don't use at all.

IMHO, my MBP is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit very well. It feels to me that my early 09' 15" MBP is running Windows better than my similarly config Sony VAIO VGN-Z690 notebook. I have no idea why that is the case but everything just seems snappier on my MBP. :)

The only bad points I can see with running Windows on my MBP is greater amounts of heat & worse battery life than if running Mac OS X, which is optimized for the MBP. :(

Why pay more for a mac, then?

I wouldn't have wanted to pay more for a Mac just to run Windows only but please kindly tell me from which other manufacturer can I find a light, sturdy, super-slim, & sexy-looking 15" or larger screen size Windows-based notebook....

I didn't think Macs could get spyware.

I believe that's a myth. Mac's are just less-targeted because there's few users of Macs. But iPhone/iPad's success may have raised Mac's profile enough that it's just a matter of time until identify thieves decide they'll make more money with less effort aiming at Mac's.

All the easy holes that were explited in the past are better defended now; a year ago I heard/read a cybersecurity expert say it would only take him 4 hours to create a new Mac explioit vs. a few days for a Win7 one. (I assume he meant Win7 + antivirus software.)

Sorry to follow that tangent for a moment.
