I have a MacBook air and an iPhone 6 plus. I'm perfectly happy doing things on my iPhone like web browsing. However, everyone on these forums talks about their iPads as if they were a nessacary and integral part of their computing set up. I'm an iOS developer so I do have an iPad, but I just feel like it has no use for me.

What do you use you iPad for that you can't/wont do on an iPhone pr laptop?

The problem is that most people are like you and think an iPad is a laptop.

Not everyone is an iOS developer. Some people do all their photo editing on iPad. Can you do that on a Macbook? Sure, but some people prefer the iPad.

Browsing the internet. It is better on iPad. My phone is 5.2", about the same size as your iPhone 6 Plus and browsing the internet on a phone and on a tablet are 2 totally different things.

Other people do, for instance, vector illustrations,

Other people, unlike you, don't want to carry a giant iPhone in their pockets.

Different devices for different uses.

I used to use my iPad all the time when I first got it 2+ yrs ago. Now, I find I barely use it, and, when I do, it's just for occasional web browsing. Now that I have the iPhone 6+, I am using it even less and thinking of selling it.

That's because your phone is new and you're using it more. As time goes by your 5.5" screen will get smaller and smaller to your eyes.

I use mine for Plex/Youtube/Netflix/BBC iPlayer Air playing to the Apple TV (I could use my iPhone 5, but if it rings it stops air playing so annoying!)

I use it in meetings at work with OneNote for taking all my notes (I do have Onenote on my iPhone but would be fiddly to write quickly on, and i do have it on my Mac(s) too but the iPad is just more convenient for meetings)

I use it at work with OneNote for reading some documentation.

I do some gaming on it i recently bought Myst it was £4.99 for iPad or closer to £15 for Mac so decided go iPad. Even played GTA 3 on it for a bit which was interesting.

I have read a few books on it as i don't have a kindle so used the kindle app. Although i wish i had an iPad Mini for this task, as its better fit.

If i go on holiday its nice to take to use on the plane to pass the time with some puzzle games and also for looking up information whilst away without having to use the phones smaller screen.

I use it to watch TV when in the bath i just rest it on the side in the bathroom.

So even though i have an iPhone 5, Mac Mini, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, and an iMac, i still find a use for my iPad. I think i really do use the right devices for the right moment.

My Nan however has not used her laptop since Christmas when i got her an iPad 2, she is never off the thing and lives on Amazon and Wikipedia.

Nothing better than grabbing your Ipad and heading to the bathroom for a number 2. Amazing how productive you can be while sitting on the crapper.
