I’m like many of the others on this thread - buy what I need and want throughout the year.

At Christmas, it’s all about family - especially the grandkids. They will be here today. We enjoy spending time together and I’m so thankful that the entire family gets along and gets along well.

I want snow, lots and lots of it, though I don't think we'll get it for Christmas.

Your family must be gluttons for punishment, don't you still have some snow leftover from those late season nor'easters last year?!

Whatever.... may you have two feet of the fluffy stuff as long as you don't ship the leftovers here before my plowman gets back. :D

We're getting that sneaky Catskills kind of snow now. An inch every 12 hours. Just enough to notice that deer have come out of hiding and are apparently looking around to find out if Santa's reindeer need any help delivering packages. Not sure why they think my east driveway is a hiring hall but the footprints this morning were charming anyway.

I used to hate that kind of snow because it meant my steep driveway needed extra attention.

A new kettle. I plugged in my million year old Baycrest this morning and it was dead. Bummer. S

After watching a present opening extravaganza this morning, I’d like to see much less over indulgence. I think it cheapens the idea of giving, and children get it in their heads that a huge pile of presents is normal. A couple of years ago, one of the kids, after opening a huge pile of gifts asked, “is that all there is”?

Yes, it was a long time ago, but when I was young, we used to be happy with a couple of gifts. Today, the 4 year old got like 30 gifts...
