Lossless option for streaming Apple Music -- How can apple, with all its emphasis on multimedia professionals and music, be such a laggard in offering good music quality?
Are enough customers willing to pay a premium to justify the effort for Apple? Only Apple knows which is probably why they haven’t.

keep MBP design clean as in the in the original retina MBP (2012-15):

- remove the model name at the hinge of the screen in the MacBook
- give TouchBar-less option (Walter Mossberg hates it, that should be enough)

in the original nothing distracts you from writing; that’s why I’m not buying the new one

I was thinking about some other things I want to see from Apple this year, and I feel like one of the only few people on this forum who didn't upgrade his Iphone to the Iphone 12. I think they need to perfect 5G, but more importantly I would like to see touch id brought back. Masks have made Face ID even more unreliable than it already was. My XR still works but if they brought out a Touch ID Iphone this year, I would seriously consider upgrading.

Another thing is ever since Apple seperated the apps away from Itunes, Windows Computers have been left out in the cold. I would like to see Apple do something to get rid of Itunes on the Windows system. Mine actually works pretty well, but there was nothing in terms of what they were going to do with Windows when they decided to kill off Itunes and that was maybe 2 years ago. It's probably time to do something about that.

Make Mac OS customizable (again!) - system fonts, color icons in sidebar and in dialogues.
iTunes bugs - get info no longer indicates the parallel selection in playlist window (hard to explain, I reported it in Lion, they said it was a bug but have never fixed it).
Bring back the magnetic charger connector.
I'd love a laptop with hinge that folds 360degrees so I can use it to prop up on the piano or tripod.
- but I'm just screaming into the dark...

I would like Apple to make sure that my 20,000+ US$ Mac Pro 2019 stops crashing after entering/waking up from sleep.
My advice is to Take it to AppleStore and ask specifically for T2 chip firmware resetting via Apple Configurator 2 [tech internal app]. This should be free and it may help to solve the issue.

This is what I like to see:

1. Mac OS X. When there is 1 minute left of battery I like to see a count down 59, 58, 57 ... large on the screen with a beeping sound, so you have a chance to run and find the adapter and plug it in. I don't know how many times (hundreds per year), my screen goes black because I accidently run out of battery.

2. Mac Book Pro. Bring back MagSafe. My USB-C pops out like 25 times a day when I use my MBP in the bed. 3 out 4 ports have been destroyed. Never happened with MagSafe.

3. Mac OS X. Add button (or similar) to Finder so you can copy the full path of the directory you are exploring.

4. iOS. When you swipe left to search, make the Notes app findable

5. Mac OS X. Option to turn off Spotlight (indexing) for everything but mail. Today I have to turn the whole feature on/off all the time, because the indexing sometimes make my computer unusable (slow disk, increased CPU usage). Yes. you can exclude every directory but the mail folder, but it is a horrible user experience. You also need to add every new directory you create to avoid it being indexed.

6. Itunes. Mark movies as seen and capability to filter them out. Search for films between years. Order by IMDB score. Bookmark movies so you can go back to something interesting later.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the authentication method added to the 2020 iPad Air.
And the emphasis put by Apple on that achievement...may be an indicator that is coming to IPhone too?

1. Apple Silicon Macs with at least 4 ports and powerful dGPUs. Looking at you, 2021 16-inch MacBook Pro
- Bonus: Remove "MacBook Pro" from the bottom bezel for a much cleaner look like the 2015 Macbooks.

2. Smaller/no notch on the iPhones (probably not going to happen though)

- Bonus: Bring back the 5.8" iPhone. Truly not too big, not too small. IMO the perfect size.

3. Redesigned iMacs

4. Much better battery life on the Apple Watch

-IPad Pro 12.9 with mini-led, if the transition to micro led takes longer than 2 years.(and no oled in between);
-14/16” MBP with M2chip; 32/64 RAM; 1TB SSD Base configuration; Discrete Graphics; non soldered batteries; proper cooling;
-27/30” 5k [resolution not price tag] Apple display with built in speakers, for everyone needing a proper 2nd Display and all the MacMini crowd.
-Mac Pro lite as device to cater the needs of the iMac Pro users and the ones wishing for a Mac Mini Pro, but with upgradable storage at least (not likely though, due to the unified architecture performance, already gave up on upgradable RAM...)
-Home Cloud device with replaceable and upgradable SSD storage for wireless back up of all Apple devices and content, as a solution for those who don’t want iCloud.
- VR headset if usable for productivity and not merely for gaming.
- 3D Apple Pencil to work in AR/VR environment (matching gloves too);
- Nearly as possible “Bugless” OS, not the betas we keep getting on year basis.
- Apple Home Screen product (TV set or Laser projector or both: if Apple is going serious about home/media entertainment on Apple TV and content, please provide a screen solution for it, already doing it on the sound level throug AirPod Max...)
- Truly pushing Metal adoption by developers, otherwise, we’ll be torn between the awesome performance of Apple silicon and the need of running x84 Windows based software.(Rosetta or Bootcamp or Virtualization will always be crippled solutions).
- Apple Rent or Apple Lease plans for professional hardware/services/support package/bundles, with 2year payments total equal to half price of upfront payment. These should be able to be upgraded or downgraded according to temporary needs of customers, for enhanced flexibility. Discount through partnership with ARM MacOS based 3rd party software as optional to the bundle would be great.
- worldwide offers to match the US offers (assistance and purchase programs: Apple Pay; Apple Card; AppleCare; etc)
- Magsafe “back” and extended to all Mac devices or at least MBP (already on IPhone...)
- 4 ports minimum (2 on iPad)
- Bring Jony back! the AirPod Max made me refrain from any redesign of the MacBook Pro...

I want to see Apple implement an autocorrect autocomplete system that i can trust. What’s the point of speeding up the process of typing a message when you then have to spend that saved time checking the text for Apple-induced ‘edits’??!!

also, I hope they sort out their software quality issues - they’re getting too much like MSoft and not in a good way...

I’d wish Maps to be improved also in other countries, and HomePod to be launched in Sweden. I know it’s a relatively small country, but Apple devices is actually holds a large proportion here (still)

1. AR Glasses. The first iteration will likely be limited and have issues but we need that first device on the market to start the ball rolling.

2. Cellular enabled Apple Watch with improved antenna that doesn't require iPhone.

I want to see even smaller boxes.

We can all save the planet consuming a new iPhone with a smaller box every year!

Yeah, Siri on device (just like it works now for dictation) would be a great improvement in speed and accuracy, as well as saving data. What I don't understand is why they didn't implement dictation process on device for the M1 Macs with Big Sur...

The solution is Touch ID. Shouldn't sound like a revolutionary technology at this point, but I'm sure we'll see a Touch ID screen capable in the near future, hopefully on this year's iPhone lineup.

Besides the mask issue, it would address not having to move the phone or yourself to unlock the phone, and allow you to unlock sideways

I like Siri be more like an assistant that you can chat with. Today everything is centered around asking questions and getting a result.

The technology exists. See GPT-3:

  • Redesigned iMac, 24", with Apple CPU, 100% edge to edge screen
  • Touch Bar integrated in Apple keyboard
  • Redesigned watch
  • MacBook Pro 16" with Apple CPU and without Touch Bar
  • Multi-user support for iPadOS
  • Watch LTE available in more countries, or specifically: The Netherlands ;)
  • More focus on software, e.g:
    • Fix the MacOS mail app so my fonts don't look ridiculous half the time when I sent mails to people on Windows PC's. This is really an embarrassment.
    • Improve MacOS window positioning. We shouldn't need to install third party tools like Magnet, this should be built-in
    • Provide a decent interface to Keychain, so it can stack up against tools like 1Password/LastPass/etc
    • Add a toggle to iOS/iPadOS to simplify the interface and hide all the complexity. iOS has gotten so complex. The magic of the initial iOS versions that allowed grand parents to pick up a device and starting working with it is basically gone. It's just too complex for many now
    • Photo editing in iPhoto, still missing various useful features that we had in Aperture
  • Make Siri better at natural language recognition, so that I don't need to repeat everything in 5 different ways before I give up and add the reminder manually. I'm not 100% sure if this is only the Dutch Siri that is this terrible, or whether this is the same in English? Either way, I haven't seen any improvement in Siri's ability to understand me in the last few years.

  • Apple Watch that doesn't need a phone, just wifi/cellular.
  • More iCloud integration of things like battery and use status info to see if my watch, iPhone and headphones are charged up anywhere without needing to go to the room and look to see on the device itself, deeper handoff of events to more devices (like Facetime handoff to an Apple TV to show the video portion of the call or Apple TV to other device for handing off a TV show to iPhone or iPad as I leave the living room, and handing it back off to another TV in my bedroom.), Deeper Continuity so the same thing can happen with apps and games on all devices.
  • Walkie-Talkie and Intercom becoming one and the same app that can be used on any Apple device, not just Apple Watch/Homepod exclusive.
  • Car Play that can just be enabled on my phone/iPad display without needing to use a car radio's display. Android Auto can do this already BTW.
  • iPhone and Macs that can use Apple Pencil. Also Touchscreen Macs.
  • MarkdownKit -- a way to bring Markdown as an entry tool in the same manner as PencilKit is for Apple Pencil now.
  • More PencilKit. On the Mac, I want to be able to write on the trackpad. That could mean a few things:
    • Make the trackpad area an e-ink like display
    • Make the Pencil able to track in the air somehow, making any surface "writeable"
    • Both. (the best answer ԅ(≖‿≖ԅ) )
  • Dual eSIMs everywhere. Macs too.
  • NFC readers/writers everywhere. Think of the iPad as POS machine. Macs being unlocked with an actual Citizen ID Card (we have Felica chips in ours here in Japan.)
  • User accounts in iOS (for the love of ice cream, PLEASE!! Would make it SO MUCH EASIER on families, schools and small businesses!)
  • News.app that IS NOT REGION LOCKED TO YOUR APPLE ID! I live in Japan but I'm American-- let me see USA news and sites dammit!
  • USB4 on EVERYTHING. PERIOD.
  • Better Passwords access as a separate app. Add in TOTP code saving ability.
  • Show some love to iCloud.com! Most people don't even know they can access their notes, iWork, Files, Calendar and Mail over there. Add in Passwords, other mail accounts, Facetime and iMessage to be able to use on the web.
  • Sherlock and/or buy GoodNotes, notion.so and spikenow.com and fold them in to the Apple ecosystem.
  • iMessage needs RCS compatibility NOW. Or just make Facetime/iMessage for Android and web.

Jony wasn’t fired, he left to start his own firm. And even in his last few years at the company, he was more focused on Apple Park than any of the products.

And Apple Stores if I am not mistaken...unfortunately the AirPod Max (I’m assuming it’s supposed case doesn’t even exist) made me concerned about his departure...I really hope new team sticks to existing design (with minor tweaks) in iMac; MacBook Pro and IPad Pro.
