Means absolutely nothing. Most people use Alexa to set timers or alarms, they won’t care whatever this thing is going to do.

Its a stripped Homepod. By the time Siri is on par they will obsolete these products and force people to upgrade claiming the following SoC is able to power a more intelligent Siri. While we all know its the cloud servers executing commands.

All that energy and fossil fuel needed to power AI….its almost as if the entire carbon neutral BS talking points have no meaning! 😂
It has no meaning.

Telling people to buy another specific watchband to make their purchase carbon neutral.

Its like eat 5 apples to justify drinking 5 gallons of coke, to neutralise the junk you just drank.

So they spent 10 billions on Apple Car
Another 10 billions on Vision
Another 10 billions on AppleTV plus movies
No wonder they can't even properly update iPadOS into something workable for real work such as having at least a something resembling a real Finder.

What does it mean? Endless more months of speculative filler articles here on MR citing the usual charlatan “analysts” and what they’ve “heard”, about a product that barely anyone gives a c—p about.

It doesn’t fit into my workflow but I’ll still probably get one for the wife and pets. Recommended it to my friends.

As long as Apple prioritizes security and privacy over functionality they will remain in a distance last place. You need to connect to servers and their data to perform any useful function other than set timers or play music.

Can we stop with this rendering .. it’s not going to look like that 😂

What's wrong with it.

We know it will have a square screen, will likely come in different colours and if it's anything like Apple's other product for the home, the iMac, will likely have a white screen bezel.

The only thing I'd do differently is have no Apple logo on the front. But apart from that this looks a pretty good guess of what it could look like.

The “Built for Apple Intelligence” marketing line was a giant red flag.

An honest translation would be “Hardware ready to support Apple Intelligence when it’s ready someday in the DISTANT future”

Twelve South has a Compass style stand for iPads.

So for $30 bucks you can put your existing iPad mini or regular iiPad on a stand and ask Siri questions, display weather, play music etc. No need for another way over priced Apple device that mimics just a few of the advantages of an iPad except being lap friendly to read a book or watch a movie. or be easy to travel with.

I have had the stand for what seems to be decades. It came out in 2010 with the first iPads. Simple to use product. It works with my mini V7 and M4 11" iPad Pro.

iOS quality has been trash for years.

Apple should move on from Craig Federighi instead of keeping him around just to be a clown for keynotes.
The gap between iOS and Android is getting wider by the year making Apple less appealing by the year.
