They looked at Genmoji and said ship it, I wonder what horrors reside in the new Siri for them to not.

And then think about their state of AI if you think their future of growth is to be in the race for home robotics.

This has been a colossal miss and Tim headed it.

What Does the Siri Apple Intelligence Delay Mean for Apple's Rumored Smart Home Command Center?

Precisely nothing since this device is rumored vaporware only.

But what about the Apple TV set or Asteroid. That’s what the people care about.
I hear Apple is reviving the Apple PiPPIN with the M6 when it comes out with a 1nm manufacturing process. it’s REAL doubters, it’s REAL.

Now they want to put ads in Apple Maps
That would work great. I'd imagine that it would show the ads just after you pass the location? On a road trip and running low on gas or food? Well, just look for an ad! Oh wait, it only popped up a 1/4 after the offramp. Next station in 200 miles.

I really don't want a screen...EXCEPT in the kitchen when I tell the HomePod to set a timer. It'd be nice to glance at the timer instead of asking Siri how much time is left and another HomePod answering and telling me there's not timer set.
Yipper! It's crap like this that prompts me to leave an Echo Show I don't really want sitting on my kitchen counter instead of using my iPad mini 6.

Twelve South has a Compass style stand for iPads.

So for $30 bucks you can put your existing iPad mini or regular iiPad on a stand and ask Siri questions, display weather, play music etc. No need for another way over priced Apple device that mimics just a few of the advantages of an iPad except being lap friendly to read a book or watch a movie. or be easy to travel with.

I have had the stand for what seems to be decades. It came out in 2010 with the first iPads. Simple to use product. It works with my mini V7 and M4 11" iPad Pro.
Yup. And there are a multitude of other iPad stands to which you can magnetically attach your iPad and even rotate its orientation. I have two of them and a couple of "retired" iPad minis that I could use with them. And I DID try to use an iPad mini 6 with one of these excellent stands in my kitchen instead of the Echo Show that's been there for years.

The experiment failed because doing simple kitchen things like setting multiple timers and displaying them on the screen is simply easier on the dang Echo Show. For one thing, my kitchen, dining room, and living room are one large contiguous space, so any verbal command I give gets picked up randomly by the iPad or by a HomePod in the dining room or a HomePod in the living room--none of which appear to be aware of the timers on each other--which is not true with Echo devices. The software strikes again. Or more correctly, the software strikes out.

Cook’s job needs to be on the line here. The buck stops with him. They should’ve pulled the plug on Siri and it’s ancient, outdated, buggy as hell code base, bought an AI startup on its way to coming close to what Open AI achieved with ChatGTP, brought in the best AI solution architects and engineers then let them have at it rewriting Siri from the ground up and this should’ve happened back in 2022 / no later than 2023 to keep pace.

Instead they keep flogging a long since dead horse trying to bridge the GAP between Siri and their own LLM solution. They should’ve also gone the off-device processing route to open it up to older iPhones without the specs for on-device processing that way if (now it’s not an if it’s become a when) they discovered the processing power wasn’t quite enough on-device they could have easily offloaded things to their own AI cloud.

But no, they’ve kept on this two course development cycle of their own LLM integrated with the existing Siri code base and then they wonder why they are so behind.

It’s becoming comical. If this next stab doesn’t see Apple able to produce similar results as its competitors with plenty of room to expand the solution then Cook needs to go. He fumbled the football on the next big thing.

It always had no meaning. They could save the planet millions of tonns of landfill by allowing their phones be repaired but they instead make it nearly impossible.

I work for a company that boasts about its green initiatives and yet buys fleets of new vehicles “because”. It’s incredibly wasteful.
What do they do with their old cars?

Wouldn't it be great if Siri could understand the word "and?" Hey Siri, turn on the TV and play "Paradise" on Netflix.

Can someone please write an article to let us know what's going on with the Siri Apple Intelligence upgrade? I hear that there have been developments but this site has been strangely quiet about the whole thing.
Well:

These stories also give some more insight information what’s going on with Apple.

The Siri story has not yet ended like the second Musk Rocket that filled the skies with burning material, but sure is a close second for a multi trillion dollar company. And, yes, they did know Siri would not b ready and I believe it was totally false advertising to push sales of the iPhone 16 series on the the premise it would work. Same facts probably for the iPhone 17 series.

The leaks that there were Siri problems seems to have started just after the first 16 series were arriving to customers. Maybe they have spent too much money on flying Tim all around the world many times on the private Apple jet. Just maybe he should be in the office and kicking backsides and firing incompetent folks.

Old saying that seems to apply:

Those employees not fired with enthusiasm, soon will be.

I wonder if Apple is so big now that it takes a committee of twenty several weeks to reach the decision to buy one box of paper clips?

Siri is a huge money pit and user inconvenience as well as disappointingly frustrating.

At this point just disable it on all devices and get it really operational and then peddle it on the Apple Software store. That way the users would have a choice of the spyware on their devices, if wanted.

Perhaps the air is starting to leak out of Apple's balloon as an analogy and it will go flat because of so many false promise leaks that are blantly obvious to even a store manakin.

If the money spent on the movie goggles had been used to really address the Siri issue, perhaps Apple would be better respected. There have been to many "third strike and you are out" incidents recently.

We can see there was another engineering failure as there is no M4 Ultra chip. The lack of the interface is their design failure and they kludged together an M3 Ultra. Why not release it last year with the M3 family of chips?

Oh, it was not ready. Tremendous miss allocation of resources, Tim. Apple's core products were computers at one point, but he has forgotten Apple's history. So they release one wobbly product after another.

We sure don't need another useless product like a home center that will be (if history is our guide) issue prone from day one and dilute sales in other product lines.

Why not be honest and drop back to a two year cycle on upgrades so they are fully operational in both software and hardware from day one? Sure would make for happier customers.
