In this order:

1. Spend probably far too long looking at the new midnight green color... and then finally turn it on.

2. Test out the new improved “XDR” screen. Probably play some HDR videos on YouTube. My iPhone X displays HRD pretty good but it has a max brightness of around 670 nits. The 11 Po can hit 1200 nits so I’m eager to see the difference. Plus since I’m getting the Pro Max, I’ll be enjoying the screen size bump!

3. Kinds goes along with #2 but I’m really curious about the “Spacial Audio” thing... Curious to see how that works and how Dolby Atmos works on a phone.

Handling feeling is first thing ,

people saying 11 pro feel cool when handling , want try that out first :):apple:

cost or manufacturing issues were that led Apple to discontinue 3D Touch...
Pretty sure the got rid of TouchID to achieve a bezel-less screen. Now... It is rumored that technology has evolved to put TouchID within the display.

Probably decide on if I want to restore it from my iPhone 7 backups or start fresh considering my iPhone 7 is quite old. This has been on my mind since ordering, can’t decide.

1 vote for starting fresh. To me, it feels great to have a clean slate to work with. All the clutter is gone that you weren’t really using.

Check out whether FaceID will really work better in positions/angles that don't work on the X/XS.

I'm curious about this also. Apple said it will be 30% faster, and work at greater distances and angles, but they did not really quantify the last part

This is also the first thing I'm going to test out.

Side by side low-light photography with my 11 Pro Max in one hand, and XS Max in the other will be next.

The first thing I’ll do is see how grippy or slippery that new matte coating is. Then I’ll put it in a case so it really won’t matter anyway. One day I’ll fulfill my dream of going caseless. lol

Quickly Check the screen for for clarity, pixels, color.
Check the body for fit finish
Put on the charger
Install screen protector and case if all is well
Transfer data
Enjoy.

I’m doing that and reporting on the thread about it. Last time it took about 3 days for my sensitivity to kick in noticeably...in the form of a seizure. (Yeah when I have a bad reaction I don’t mess around. Yeesh. I’m not even diagnosed with epilepsy, just visual migraines). But at first, I thought it was going to be okay. It’s not something I can determine quickly.

I’ll be your canary in the coal mine. But keep in mind everyone is different. I can use OLED displays on other phones, even if I can detect a slight flicker. Some people can’t use any of them. My husband is prone to migraines but can use iPhone OLEDs with no issues whatsoever.
Hmm that’s interesting. Never had a migraine until I was 54 and now I get migraines with aura. Always seem to be on my phone when they start, blind spots then the zig zags. Wonder if it’s Oled related.

- restore from backup
- look at it
- realise it’s still just a phone and put it on the table.

This 100%

If you honestly believed it was 'just a phone', you wouldn't have purchased an 11 series iPhone. There are 'just phones' out there for well under a hundred dollars, and even cheaper if you can deal with one that's connected to your wall jack.

Like all of us, you purchased the 11-series iPhone because it is so insanely, ridiculously beyond anything a phone was ever imagined to be, that the term 'phone' is a hilariously anachronistic misnomer for the device; it's a super computer in your pocket. It's a device capable of doing thousands of wondrous things, most of which would've been deemed impossible in this day and age, even just a couple of decades ago. One of the most trivial things it does is act as a phone.

It's akin to calling an Aston Martin DB11 a cup-holder. Yes, one of the things it can do is hold cups, but really it's designed to do so, so much more, and do it amazingly.

If someone purchased an 11-series iPhone and considers it 'just a phone', they spent way, way, waaaaay too much. Find an altec flip-phone for $20 ... that's just a phone.

3D Touch, not TouchID. :)
Oh my, how embarrassing. I’ll blame it on small text size and use this to further justify my purchase of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. :p

Sorry friend. With that in mind, I have to agree, I wish 3D Touch stayed. I will miss the satisfying feeling and the speed (haptic seems slower).
