I just beat Spiderman Miles Morales for the 2nd time and got 100% and my first platinum trophy :). Have 1,300+ trophies since PS3...

trying to get my 2nd one with Astro which I love.

Can't stop playing God of War I beat in in 2018 and didn't like it as much as others but it's incredible

Migrating between Cyberpunk and Rage 2. Honestly, I almost sold R2 and I’m glad I didn’t, it’s literally like Doom [2016 version] just with an open apocalyptic world where you can actually explore, drive and it’s very similar to Mad Max. Really underrated game that plays very smooth and I generally have no complaints.

The customizations include to the weapons, vehicle, character improvements, and it has a decent narrative, but I’m playing that on my new Xbox and everything runs incredibly smooth.

I'm back to playing Fallout 76, Bethesda has a Scorched holiday event, where a given scorched will be dressed up for Christmas, santa, or elf, christmas PJs, etc. They drop small regular and large gift boxes with loot, including rare plans.

I'm finding this to be an enjoyable event, its going on through January 2nd, so its one of the longer running events. Since I'm a Fallout First subscriber, I'm doing this on a private server so I'll not miss out on the NPCs already being shot and killed. Anywhere I go they're already spawned.

Destiny 2, just started a new character on my Series X and it's great. I like the new player experience, even though I'm not a new player. Destiny 2 has grown quite a bit over the years so it's good they trimmed the fat and made it flow better.

Despite owning it since 2017, I finally started Breath of the Wild over Christmas. I'm not a typical Zelda player, I don't think my brain is wired for these games, but I've been enjoying this so far. I don't think I've gotten very far, I've completed the first four shrines and have made my way to the first village. Actually, it took me ages to get to the village because I've been having fun just wandering around doing some hunting and poking about on my way to the village.

I've probably clocked up 10 hours already and it feels like I've barely scratched the surface. I'm dreading getting to some proper dungeons though. I've only beaten Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, after having to resort to some guides for help)...anyone who beats these games without needing to resort to a guide or some sort of help at least once, I doff my cap to you.

If you just met Impa at your pace it’s going to be a 100 hour game. Like the game has next to no story but is easy enough to just walk around all day and not die. Just stay away from the Giant Lion/horse guys.

until you get better weapons and armor(you have to upgrade your armor at fairy locations). 1st fairy is at the top of the mountain of the 1st village. Buy the ninja armor not the knight armor. Each fairy is significantly more expensive than the next.

if you get good at parrying. (Blocking with your shield at the perfect time) and flurry rush(countering) basically you can beat the game without armor and bad weapons. My nephew beats the game in a few hours at this point. He goes straight to the final boss.

Thanks for the advice. I got to the village last night but didn't make it to Impa. I just wandered around for a bit searching houses. Got to the inn and hit save, will get to Impa today.

Before I got to the village, just before, I came across a big rock monster that beat me pretty bad. Also saw some of those mechanical monsters, so I steered well clear of that. As long as I don't get to a crazy hard part, I'll carry on. If I'm honest, I didn't think I'd get past the plateau, hah.

Yea even with full armor stay way from the Guardians (big robots later on you will fight ones that walk). If you don’t know how to parry their eye beams just run away. At this point you probably have crap shields so even if you parry their blast it will break your shield and not go back and kill them.

another thing you can do is go into Hyrule castle and sneak around. Take the better weapons (don’t fight anything). Then come back makes the game easy

Thanks for the tips. I’m on my way to Hateno village. Met my first member of the Yiga and got neatest quite badly, had to eat a lot of cooked food just to survive and eventually beat them. I’ve run out of arrows...I didn’t think it was possible as I had yet to run out of any! It must’ve been all that hunting. I need to find some if I want to keep hunting.

Thanks to GamePass, stumbled across another little gem for me. Monster Train. It's a deck builder game where you use the cards to summon monsters to protect the heart of your train as attackers move up through 3 levels of the train to attack it.

I’ve gotten further in BOTW than I thought I would’ve. I’m still very early in the game, I imagined I’d have gotten stuck and given up by now. Good experience so far. Surprised at the lack of obvious/in your face handholding/tutorial that Nintendo games usually have at the beginning.

I’ve also popped into Animal Crossing a few times after not touching it since early July. I was hooked to it since launch and was regularly buying turnips.

TLOUS2:

Second time playing around. And I’m not playing it again to revisit the story, I’m just absolutely thrilled to see how amazing this game sounds, the overall depth to the game with the graphics and artwork is perfect, and the characters are so well-built, there’s a reason why they made this game such an emotional piece for the gamer, it’s about an experience more than just playing a game. It’s that good.

Although I have a Series X, I still have my PS3 to use with my Logitech Driving Force GT.

People are racing about TLOU and I have recently been tempted to buy the PS3 game. Is there a chance that I might find the game boring and repetitive?

If so, am I better off watching full gameplay videos on YouTube to experience the story?

Just to clarify, have you ever played the original ‘Last of us’? Have you played ‘The Last of us 2?

No. I have never played a game from the Series.
Definitely start with the first one. I don’t know how someone can claim this game being ‘boring and repetitive’, when it’s a story and an adventure with obstacles along the way. That’s really what it’s about, it is linear gameplay with a immersive story, but it’s very well executed. As for the second version of TLOUS2, it’s a bridge off the first one, but obviously improved with the dynamics of the graphics, crafting, weapons, and of course, they want the storyline to match together.

You’re not buying just a game, you’re buying an experience that probably has one of the best stories of any RPG element.

I absolutely LOVED those two games. I do recommend to play TLoU remastered on the PS4 (or PS5 for that matter)

----------

I finished up CP2077 for now, was going to start Death Stranding, but decided to play a "short" game instead, so I'm starting Resident Evil 2 remake.

Same here. Moving on from CP2077 as of today.

I am considering buying Control. However, as the UK has gone into lockdown, I need a bright open world game that I can lose myself into.

AC Origins is probably the game that I will play. I bought it for £10 a few weeks ago with all DLCs included.

A physical copy of Witcher 3 GOYT edition is on the sideline until the next gen version has launched.

It's my birthday this week and my 4 year old daughter told my mum "Maybe we daddy wants a new game" 😁

However I can't think of a game that I should ask for. Might request NFS Hot pursuit Remastered for nostalgia. On the flip side, it the type of game I would rather buy at bargain basement prices.

Next up:

Is either ‘Death stranding’ or Shadow of the Tomb raider, I’m not sure which one to start with.

I’m also looking to Far Cry 6 coming out, it was slated for February, but the rumor is, it’s now slated for a May potential release. I think those two games I mentioned above should hold me over until then.

The delay makes sense. Retail units and launch day software for Series X and PS5 only launched in November.

A good number of months are required to fully optimise the game for the consoles.

I really enjoyed Death Stranding but it is so strange. I almost quit in the first six hours because it just felt so tedious. The story got me and I'm glad I stuck with it. I has some great boss fights also.

I have just ordered Civilisation Revolution 5. Believe it or not but it's a 360 game that I will play on my Series X.

The game has better reviews than the most recent installment for Xbone/PS4. Best of all, the game only costal me £3.

This is the beauty of backwards compatability. It enables you to access older games that were great.

In the 90s I was a sucker for strategy games like age of empires, red alert and Simtower etc.

GOOD game.

I'm a newcomer to PC gaming so pretty much everything I'm playing is brand new to me even if most people here played these titles months/years ago.

One thing funny about having missed years/decades of gaming is that I don't have to wade through hours/days/weeks/months of crappy games. I did an Internet search for "best Resident Evil titles", read several opinionated articles and came up with a consensus list of RE2 (remake), RE4 and RE7 as the best titles in this franchise.

I'm currently bouncing around between Control, RE3, the Black Mesa community remake, and two VR titles: Alien Isolation and Half-Life: Alyx.

Yesterday I spent a couple of hours on Control which is the longest amount of time I can take in one session (I'm an old Gen X-er, not a young Millennial).

(Oops, I see that I replied to something in the Console section even though I'm playing on PC.)
