How far did you get? It's one of my favourite FFs but it does take a while for the story to start going somewhere.
That reminds me -- I forgot I bought that for my iPad. I played the first season on 360, and often felt the story had more "critical" moments than the TV show. This gives me something to do later on this evening...
Picked up Bloodborne last night, couldn't resist the weekend deal on PSN for €39,99.
Having to finally look up on the internet how to equip weapons was a great start.
Is it normal to feel completely lost in the beginning? No idea where I'm supposed to go, what I'm supposed to do (besides killing anything that moves), how to use weapons/items... I just wandered off in some direction, started fighting a lot, dying a lot... I picked the saw cleaver and pistol as my first weapons, was this a smart choice?
Yep it's very good. If only Nintendo could give us New IP's on a regular basis, not just one or two every other generation of hardware....I've been sucked into Splatoon since I got it. Very fun shooter game, and this is coming from someone who doesn't play shooter games.
It remains to be seen what they do with the IP though. I hope we get sequels, I hope the character turns up in Smash Bros and Mario Kart!Yep it's very good. If only Nintendo could give us New IP's on a regular basis, not just one or two every other generation of hardware....
Yeah I still lament many fantastic games that have seemingly died. FZero was stunning on the GameCube and not a whif only fleeting cameos since. It remains to be seen what they do with the IP though. I hope we get sequels, I hope the character turns up in Smash Bros and Mario Kart!

Wow, hold your horses there. Let's first hope that Nintendo delivers on all the free DLC they promised for this game, cause as it's stands, it's pretty short on content. Otherwise this game will fade quickly into distant memory as we get bored of the limited content...
To me a game shouldn't require a 5-10 hour commitment before it becomes enjoyable.
I don't mind increased challenge, but increased challenge and unfairness are clearly at too different ends in Bloodborne.
I finally found myself making progress yesterday. Got much further than I ever got previously, and then the game set up a trap. Led me into an area clearly intending me to die there - end result all that progress destroyed and back to beginning. That sort of BS is not a fair challenge - that's simply annoying. The lack of checkpoints in a difficult game to me is making the game impossible to get any real enjoyment from it. I should be rewarded for having to get past a horde of enemies, taking them down with at least some form of checkpoint. Not berated by having to get past them 5 million times only to die when the game designers decide to play 'feck you' with the gamer.
I love the aesthetics, the idea of the game. The mechanics are to me utter BS and utterly ruining what could have been for me a fantastic game.
There is no reason a game can not be welcoming to gamers as well as sadomasochistic to those with those tendencies.
I already see lots if copies of bloodborne on the trade websites. Clearly I'm not the only one who bought it wanting to like it, but finding the entire experience too much work to ever be called entertainment.
I'm just going off the pushing Nintendo has done for this on social media. They're really going for it with this game. All this effort to me screams that Splatoon is going to stick around a bit longer than a single game. I mean hell they put no effort into promoting that Steel Diver IP and we've got two games from it so far!Wow, hold your horses there. Hmm, this is kind of where I'm at right now, and I just barely started the game. Finally managed to kill all those bastards patrolling the streets, the shooters, the rabid dogs, the crow things, the big monster banging on the gate...took me about an hour, really taking my time, dealing with them one by one. Then I get on the bridge, two super dogs jump on me at once and kill me. Fair enough, I hadn't encountered these enemies before and had no chance to learn their attack patterns yet. But the fact that now I have to go through all that again just to even get to the dogs and try again doesn't sit well with me. Who has that kind of time?
That's actually all part of it. It's incredibly frustrating in the beginning, then you start figuring out alternate pathways, and opening shortcuts...
PS-you don't HAVE to fight those dogs...
Good luck!

Yeah I invested hours and hours and finally got passed this and thought I was making great progress.
Now I'm at a point where it feels like I'm starting all over again as the difficulty ramps up and now I have the same mindless grind and frustration until I get to the point where I can make progress ... And to be frank, I honestly can't be bothered. The game feels like it's gone FU just after spending hours investing time & effort and gallons of frustration for it to just be cheap and make to have to do it all again after blood starved beast....
I've given up. I'm bored of frustration.

I'd LOVE another F-Zero game. The GameCube version looked and played amazing -- albeit I found it pretty difficult.
I'll try again, but I'm not sure how much more.
I kind of regret buying digitally now. The game still has decent resale value, but Now I am stuck with it.

Hmm, I'm surprised the difficulty level ramped up so quick after Blood Starved Beast. It probably means you are in zone you are not ready for yet. If you get kidnapped by the bag guys, do not try and tackle Yargul now, immediately run up the stairs from your prison cell to the lamp and warp out. There are only two bag guys in Cathedral Ward, and they can be avoided. Your next boss should be Vicar Amelia in Cathedral Ward, followed by Witch of Hemwick through Hemwick Channel Lane. If you are really struggling, I recommend watching a video walk through. I recommend the ones by Lucian's Sword on youtube.
But it sounds like you may of had enough, and I totally understand. I've given up on difficult games before out of frustration too, that's ok. If a game is no longer enjoyable, it's not worth playing.
Cheers, and happy gaming!
