Any Resident Evil 1 experts here? Since the series has fairly good reviews I decided to start at the beginning. However, I'm already stuck and I have no idea what to do next :(

I might as well give a little progress update. I made it out of the mansion and into the "Courtyard" area. Just as I'm starting to see some trees around the place, I get a garbled radio message saying to stay away from the forest. At this point it was getting relatively late and I hadn't saved in a while, so I stuck my tail between my legs and stopped playing for the night :p

@Weaselboy. Now that Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us 2 and Far Cry 5 are both pushed to early/mid 2018. I can progress with my back log of games I have. That said, do you have any thoughts/experience with Metal Gear: Phantom Pain? I just started it and it's a tactical shooter. Curious if you have any thoughts/feedback?

I have to say that is about the best game I have ever played. Terrific graphics, the gameplay mechanics were good, and the story was very engaging. I don't know how far in you are, but you get some other characters as your assistants you can deploy. One is a young lady called "Quiet" who never speaks, and you also get a dog. Lots of ways to deploy them to mix things up. Just an all around great game. You can play stealth of just go crashing in... your choice.

Started Bloodborne a whiles back after finishing the main game of Dark Souls 3. Love it so far. I'm more partial to the dark-fantasy setting of Dark Souls, but From Software just knows how to put a game together.
Also hooked up my Xbox360 behind my new(er) TV in the living room to go back and finally finish Dark Souls 1.

Outside of that, have been playing Little Nightmares and Hyper Light Drifter. Both great games.

Oh, How I Miss the GameCube days. (And Dreamcast).

Many games and graphics still hold up to this day. Wish they would continue the Star Wars Rogue Squadron series on the current gen. I would love to see more Dreamcast games updated and continued as well.

Looking forward to E3 conference on June 13-15

Who isn't this year?

Got 100% achievements in Dark Souls 3 today. Hadn't planned on going for all the achievements but I was pretty close after my 3rd play through so figured I'd go for it.

I'm about 1/2 way through my replay of Dead Space. This is my 5th or 6th time through it and it's still awesome!

Probably going to start a replay of Dark Souls 1 next.

Really just playing Minecraft in coop with my partner, on the Switch.

And been inching through Mario World and Yoshis Island on the NES Mini. Until that system came along with its 1:1 NES and SNES replica controllers I never really played the first levels of classic games. Funny how an almost authentic experience (on modern TVs) can make that big of an impact.

Damn, nice one. 100% in DS3 is no joke. I'm working on the Ringed City DLC now.

I also started a playthrough of Dark Souls 1 recently. I still have a copy for xbox360 and decided to get down to business and finally finish that game. Currently at the Taurus Demon and what a sonofabitch he is.

Taurus Demon is a pushover, though. I killed him in 2 hits. Just spawn him in, run back to the ladder in the tower and plunge attack him. 2 plunge attacks should do it.

Oh I think I'm calling the wrong boss Taurus Demon then. It's the one with the super small fighting area in Undead Burg with two annoying dogs helping him attack you.

Just looked it up, it's the Capra Demon.

Ahh yeah, Capra Demon is annoying. Get rid of the dogs ASAP; make use of the stairs to try to separate them a bit.

Yea Capra can be a pain just because of the very small fighting area. He got me twice this time.

Coming directly from DS3 to DS1 is a little jarring. The enemies in DS1 seem to be a lot slower in their attacks, slow enough that even I can parry them, lol. I miss weapon arts. I absolutely love how interconnected the world is in DS1 but I miss having bonfire warping right off the bat. Like right now I'm at the end of the Catacombs and I think Tomb of the giants is next plus the Nito fight. I don't really want to do that right now so I'll have to slog all the way back through the catacombs to get out. Ugh.

Shame the online seems to be pretty much dead. Put down my sign a few times and haven't been summoned yet.

You actually liked the 'story' of TPP? I found it to be one of the most insulting prequels ever made, especially
Venom being the medic from GZ. It not only cheapens the fantastic quarantine scene but completely destroys what the game was supposed to be Big Boss' road to villainy
. Granted, Kojima is just about the worst of the laughable Japanese 'auteurs' in terms of writing ability but I would have much preferred him rebooting everything and starting from scratch instead of trying to massage everything to try and make the MG games make dramatic sense, which they can't.

Hah yeah, that was my strategy after I noticed how small the area was. I keep getting caught up on the Capra Demon when I come in through the fog gate and then the dogs just start chowing down on my poor guy. I'll keep at it tonight and beat this thing.

Tell me about it. I'm doing the same thing you are and coming right off of a ton of DS3. I LOVE Dark Souls 1's layout and varied areas all interconnecting. I don't mind not being able to warp but I'm sure it will grate on me later. The slower combat is hard for me to adjust to and the camera can be annoying but I just have to put in some more time and get used to it.
I would really love it if FromSoft remastered Dark Souls and Demon's Souls for the current gen systems. The slowdown in some areas is very jarring.

I'm holding out for a Dark Souls PS4 port. I didn't have a PS3 when it came out and a lot of my friends were really into it, so I bought it but never got around to playing it - and now I can't find the disc! But I've always wondered... is it linear? I've got it into my head that it's a modern version of Ghouls and Ghosts complete with a linear level structure, and that DS2 made it open world. I imagine I'm way off with all of this but I'm too scared to look it up incase I find spoilers!

No, DS1 is pretty open with little guidance on where to go. The world is all connected somehow, excellent design. DS2 I think was a little less open. DS3 is the most linear of the 3 Dark Souls.

Capra Demon and his little yipping mutts just got put to sleep last night.

Was on a roll. Ended up taking out the Gaping Dragon on my first try too. Leveled up a bit and spent some souls on repair kits for my weapons and armor.

Next up - the infamous Blight Town.

Like Mr.9000 said, DS1 is very open. More so than Dark Souls 2 or 3 in my opinion. Dark Souls 2 seemed open but there was a lot of dead ends and you could warp around from the bonfires immediately. In DS1, you can't warp right off the bat but you slowly unlock shortcuts and interconnected paths that loop back around on previous areas. Genius level design.

I know that From Software doesn't want to spend more time on Dark Souls at the moment, and they don't even own the rights to Demon's Souls, but I'm hoping that they could delegate another group to work on just remastering these games for modern systems. They did a killer job with Dark Souls 2's remaster and something of that caliber would be excellent for these older games.
