Playing as a pyromancer, so a mix of brute force and distance/range.

TBH difficulty is about the same between the two, I wouldn't have got anywhere near where I am in the game without the help of phantoms / other players who saved my bacon especially at the point where shear frustration was becoming a massive barrier.

There are FAR more entire hidden areas in the game though compared to bloodborne and thats ignoring the DLC.

From the 'Smouldering Lake', the 'Archdragon Peak', the 'Old Wolf of Farron' area with its boss and another hidden areas, 'the Consumed King's Gardens' ...

And i know I still have missed loads.

There are a bunch of hidden/optional areas in Bloodborne as well. Did you explore the upper cathedral ward and its two bosses? Castle Cainhurst? The upper level of the clinic (starting area)? Nightmare Frontier? :)

First two Nope ... I did nightmare frontier though. Heck still have the Hunters DLC too. Seriously will From Software keep me gaming on PS4 for its entire life span at this rate.

I just want to give this guy a "shout out" in case you don't already know him...

He plays the more obscure games and comments on them - he's funny...

He played GTA V w/ Pokemon Go mod - didn't know that existed - hysterical... :)

(notice: GTA has language and violence)

Yeah things like the covenants etc... I am still unsure of the benefit and things like selecting a covenant allegiance, does it actually achieve anything ?

Also I have the season pass and the expansions. I can see how to get to Arandiel but I am stumped about the other expansion

The Ringed City warp is available after clearing the last boss in the Ashes DLC, or you can find a warp point to Ringed City near the final boss of the base game.

Covenants are basically for the multiplayer aspect of DS3. You can ignore them for the most part, unless you want to go for 100% trophies. You do get spells, miracles, weapons, etc. rewards for completing the ranks in different covenants - turning in 30 of whatever item. Aldrich faithful and Watchdogs of Farron covenants cause you to automatically invade players passing through their respective zones. Rosaria's Fingers is basically a covenant for people that invade others. Mound Makers is a neat covenant - you get the required items from either killing the host or killing other invaders/Mound Makers. If you co-op a lot join the Warriors of Sunlight for jolly cooperation, praise the Sun!

If you don't care about any of that maybe just stick with the Way of the Blue covenant. That way if anyone invades you there is a chance Blue Sentinels or Blade of the Darkmoon members will be automatically summoned to your world to help defeat the invader(s).

Just bought and installed The Witcher 3 for 15€ on the new PS Store sale.

Really liking it so far. Graphics are amazing, the world is beautiful and has all kinds of controls.

Only thing I hate are the very long video sequences. I get bored with them easily

The start is the main place you will get the long intro video. Once you are into the games main campaign after the tutorials and intro sections there are not too many .... It's a great game. I finished main campaign but never got round to the new area DLC stuff, more stuff that is in my backlog.

I'm almost done with Batman Arkham Knight..also playing Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice..

I have the Witcher 3 game of the year edition, which is the main game and all the DLC but I haven't gotten through much beyond the intro when other games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect: Andromeda came out so I haven't gotten back to it..

I need a good long game to play so that I don't end up buying a ton of games and not finishing any of them..:)

Did you do the DLC story missions for Batman. Once I finished the main campaign I never bothered doing them, as I needed a change and sadly bVent gone back to complete them.

That's my problem in general when it comes to big games and DLC.

Mass Effect Andromeda is in my backlog too ...

Given were heading into Fall with some Amazing looking games to come I fear my backlog will expand ever further.

Oh was very tempted to pick this up myself. How is it?
It's confusing at first...but i'm getting the hang of it. Mainly because it's not like shoot em up only. You gotta investigate and use thermal scan and other type of scanning to get infos. I just got it yesterday...lovin' it but i'm stuck at the moment. I'm doing live stream again.

Cities Skylines

By far the best city simulator I ever played. While I liked SimCity 2013 (on Mac) it has nothing on Cities Skylines.

I was nervous getting it for PS4 (Pro) because using a mouse and keyboard is my preferred method of control for this type of game. However the devs did a amazing job with the controls. And on top of that they COULD have charged $60 since its new to consoles however they only charged $40. No regrets at all and I HIGHLY recommend this for PS4 (or PC/Mac) if you are the type of person interested in city simulators or want to try one out.

I was live streaming some game play from my PS4 via Youtube earlier if anyone is interested in seeing the gameplay. Keep in mind the stream loses some visual fidelity, it looks better directly and FEELS like 60 FPS, at least on the PS4 Pro (not sure what the differences are between the consoles).

A brief overview of my city so far (start it at 2 hours 9 minutes for some reason it keep reverting back to 1:53). I love the sense of accomplishment this game gives you.

I've been doing the side-missions as much as possible in the game before finishing the main campaign. I usually don't bother with DLC as that requires more money (and since I buy my games used, it just doesn't make much sense and doesn't add that much more)..

I like games where they include all the DLC as one pack, like Last of Us Remastered, an absolutely amazing game. After finishing the main campaign, I played the Left Behind DLC and it nicely fits into the story of the main campaign.

ME: Andromeda is a lot better with the last patch, but then I never get caught up with trivial things since I play the games for the stories and characters.

I've played the original ME trilogy all the way through at least half a dozen times, but after finish ME: Andromeda, I couldn't get myself to play through again as a different twin..

As time has gone on, I'm finding myself drawn to games that are partially open-world but are still guided, i.e., you have to get somewhere to do something and how you get there and do it is entirely up to you, but the story moves along without a lot of friction..

I also have GTA 5 on m PS 4 and when I get in most of the time there isn't anything specific to do, just drive around and do random stuff until something happens, so I just end up jacking a motorcycle and driving around the city as fast as I can until I die and then I quit..:)

Regards

Got a wisdom tooth pulled put today, so I'm on painkillers, and my wife took the kids shopping for a while. What better time to fire up a round of Dark Souls 3!! :D

Hadn't played in several months. Went back to the High Wall of Lothric as I had never gotten around to explore the dragon tower. So I found my first mimic and destroyed him without taking a hit! I had heard about how tough they are, maybe I just got lucky...?

Then started Road of Sacrifices. Made it to the second bonfire, and I'm pretty sure I picked up all the secret pathways and goodies along the way. Next up is a foresty area where some clowns are apparently trying to impale me with tree trunks. But they will have to wait for another day...

Mimics later on get majorly annoying as they seem to level up along with your progress.

I'm sure you haven't found every path ... ;)

Have you killed the 'dance of boreal valley' boss yet which is still in Lothric and opens up later areas early.

Off topic. Be careful with those painkillers. Coincidentally I'm attending a funeral tomorrow for someone that over dosed on another drug and the painkillers from having his wisdom teeth removed is what got him started down that road. Probably not a problem for you, just felt compelled to say something due to that coincidence.

Oh I didn't mean to imply that I found all secret paths in the game so far! Just the ones between the first and the second bonfires in Road of Sacrifices. :D

Haven't heard of that boss. I know there is still one door in the High Wall that is locked (tower right after the dragon tower). Is that the way?

EDIT: Going to later areas early really doesn't sound like a smart idea... :p

If I'm thinking of the correct door that's locked, no. You get the key for that door later on from an NPC and it just leads to the red eye orb item.

Well my DS3 progress.

Managed to get past the first set of bosses in Painted World of Arandiel.

God that was tough even with help.

Met the NPC character who keeps mentioning the Ringed City though

I absolutely hate and yet at same time totally love this game.

I would love to see a company making a game that allows players to create their own dark souls areas with enemies.

Ok DS3 again. Really sick of the boss structure in the Arandiel & Ringed City expansion. It's just taking the pee and making it extra hard by making you kill the bosses three times each occasion.

It's really feeling like the game developers are resorting to 'cheating' me rather than actually challenging me. It feels dirty now and even with 2 player phantoms and 1 npc phantom it is just ridiculous. Damn this game. !!!!! I need to take a break from it before my controller learns to fly into walls.

I went back and negotiated part of the Crystal, and also ran into an optional boss that I had no chance of beating at that level! I've done a few more of the optional hunts, including the Hell Wyrm with its massive health pool (yes, I know of the existence of Yiazmat...).

But FF12 is going on the back-burner because my copy of Dragon Quest XI arrived today :)
I came back to FF12 and have knocked out some more of the optional stuff. Zodiark is a nightmare; the first ~90% of the fight goes OK but then he gains immunity to all physical attacks and starts spamming an attack that can potentially knock out my entire party in one hit. The other issue is that I haven't kept my mages up to the same level as my melee guys, and my usual tactic of "use a bigger sword" isn't going to help here!

I also want to go back and retry Ultima; my previous attempt didn't go too badly and I've gained ~10 levels since then, but it's a loooooong trek back there.

At least the Behemoth King is down :)

Have fun with Midir ;)

Just finished Dead Space 2 replay. Still my favorite Dead Space. The new weapons and more enemy types are great additions.
Might try some 2016 DOOM multiplayer since I recently got all the DLCs free.
