Call of Pripyat is more of an open world RPG, your still confined to areas, however are free to roam and explore within each one. Exodus is more confined in comparison with less exploration and feel has more of an FPS focus.

I've yet to complete Metro Exodus, might be the next. I still think that Call of Pripyat is worth playing game has a tremendous atmosphere and offers good replay value if your into the game world.

Got my Oculus Quest 2 VR headset in the mail today... Playing "Half-Life ALYX". I set up Quest 2 VR headset to play Steam VR games wirelessly from my PC gaming rig though Virtual Desktop. I basically can play anywhere in my house.
I'm still getting used to the controllers... but the freedom from wires connected to a VR headset is a game changer.

I haven't installed it yet for my Rift S but it's definitely on my to-do list.

I don't know how difficult it is to mod games on the Quest 2.

Wow... I'll check it out... thanks!!! Not sure what you mean installed on your Rift S. I'm basically streaming SteamVR games to my Quest 2 through Virtual Desktop. I haven't installed anything on my Quest 2... except the Virtual Desktop from the Oculus store to connect to my PC desktop wirelessly. This is the vid I used to connect to SteamVR games:


I'm really liking the VR immersion, but I said that about NVidia 3D glasses in the past... LOL... I'm sure my Quest 2 will be collecting dust in the near future. But if there are mods and good VR games coming out... who knows...
 
Sorry for the confusion. The Rift S is PC based and wired so I need to mod Half-Life Alyx (purchased at Steam) on my PC for this to work.

I bought my Rift S last summer before the Quest 2 was announced. It's still the #2 VR HMD according to Steam usage charts so I have no fear that I should get a couple more years of good use before I upgrade.

The Rift S's wire hasn't started to bother me. But then again I'm a guy who is fine with wired headphones, wired mouse, wired keyboard, and wired gamepad.

There's a VR mod for Alien Isolation. It's a bit janky but the overall effect is great. The game is already pretty creepy to begin with but looking over your shoulder for the Xenomorph just bumps up the anxiety levels.

You probably know that there are VR versions of Fallout 4 and Skyrim. I understand that some of the mods designed for the regular desktop games also work in the VR versions.

VR is particularly effective for simulation (driving, flight). I've dabbled a bit with Star Wars: Squadrons in VR mode but it looks like you need to use a regular gamepad for flight controls. That's okay. You can't see the keyboard anyhow and you're strapped in a cockpit (you're not walking around).

The map I last played and return to on occasion is a couple of years old, where I’m working on a giant tree with built in apartments for,living, and it’s an extreme map with huge steep mountains. Don’t remember where I got it, probably a Best Minecraft Seeds article or something. So I’m wondering what the change is, that they made this more commonplace?

Is there a way in-game to identify a map’s seed identifier?

oh allow me to explain (a bit)


the overall height limit of Minecraft has been increased, so mountains// hills/buildings can be much higher than before.


— They are also changing mountain biomes//adding new mountain biomes so there will be different mountains generating than what we’re used to.

not only this, but the caves are being HUGELY reworked as well. I do not want to spoil anything much for you as it’s very exciting, just wait until the full version is released and DON’T WATCH ANY TRAILERS, if you want it to be as great as possible!

There’s a lot of big changes since last year and this year coming so it will be very fun to jump in when 1.17 is released near the summer.

I’m not sure about this but the bottom level of the caves might also be “deeper” than it used to be.

Been playing the demo for Touhou 18: Unconnected Marketeers. It's really good, decently challenging, and the music is epic. Really excited for the final release of the game, especially because I don't really vibe with Touhou 17. :)
 
Mad Max (2015)
Came up on a deep discount, but what a ride it's been :D Lot of player freedom and everything just works, plays great, looks great. Very much enjoying as is a fun and engaging game that works with and for the player.

Few difficulty spikes, nothing that you cant overcome with a little thought & practise. Story wise seems a mix of "The Road Warrior (1981) & "Fury Road" (2015). Very much a fun game that slipped under the radar in the day and beats out many newer releases.

  • Planetside 2- Played this in 2004, then 2014, and because I just erased World of Tanks, thought I’d try it again. It has changed, it can turn into a huge time sink, with basically never ending battles, although success can be called conquering a Continent. There are 3 of those. It has changed enough and complex enough that I don’t feel like I know what I’m doing, and don’t know if I have the patience to relearn it. There is something to be said for 15 min battles.
  • World of Warships- $#&@!! torpedoes!
  • Cyberpunk 2077- Second play through this time as Corpo as if that makes any real difference.
  • Fallout 4- Still on 3rd play though started last summer.
  • Metro 2033- Started but not much progress.
  • Starwars Fallen Order- Just started but low priority until Cyberpunk is finished.

Waiting on the new PVP server in EQ2 aswell.

as for Single player, I am dipping into Crusader Kings III and Stellaris occasionally.
 
Not much of a completionist as a rule, however Mad Max (2015) really drew me in.

Watching the film's helps with the emersion. First film I see as the set up for Max, second and undoubtedly the best is Max the rest I can take or leave. That said Fury Road does does set much of the tone for the game, nor in a bad way. Odd bug here and there, but nothing game breaking. Kind of sad the game is done as is a really fun game, not a deep story as after all it's Mad Max.

Storyline is as to be expected, equally parts of it blew me away as although obvious from the film's perspective the games emersion took me away then gave "both barrels"...

Will I play the game again, hell yeah with the HUD & tips off which will be a real challenge but not so soon as itching to play Paradise Lost.

Overall Mad Max 2015 is a game to play, if you can get into it's a blast 😎

Having a gaming PC is nice but there are enough really good PlayStation exclusives to convince me it's worth having a console too. TLOU, TLOU2, Horizon Zero Dawn (first game is on PC now), Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, etc.

Some PS exclusive games are now coming to PC such as Horizon Zero Dawn with more in the pipeline from Sony. Just saying as the catalogue is far broader on the PC. Not against console gamers, all the angst is just BS IMO. I don't play online games so much, when I do the very last thing I think about is the platform I just want to win LOL

I have an X-Box 360, have not touched it in a while, mostly used when grand kids come over. PC is superior, the mod ecosystem is better. Programmable keyboard-mouse is generally better. Upgrading hardware is better compared to non-existence on consoles. I built my computer in 2013 and since then have upgraded video card, motherboard, monitor to 4k and processor.

Free indefinitely far as I know. Was gearing up for Paradise Lost next after Mad Max, still might but Alien Isolation is right up my street as I really enjoy the first 3 films. If I like the game as much as I hope, I'll pick up the film (Alien 1979) tie in DLC's.

Seen a few comments on GOG regarding EPIC and their give always and TBH somewhat soured by the whole Cyberpunk 2077 debacle. Decided to have a look and see what Epic offers :)
