wait, you cant get gpu2 to work in windows?

I haven't tried windows but from reading posts elsewhere it seems to be a problem in windows as well. As with most things electronic it is likely only a few who have trouble. I'm just better at bad luck than most people are.

dang that's fast. on a 2.26 mac pro? it's taking me like just under or right at 36 min on my i7 920 running at 3.5 ghz. hey now, if you could do these on your 920 then you could really put up some points

If you only have 4 cores and I have 8 that isn't very much of a difference even taking into account the mhz discrepency. It might be worth trying to see if my 920 would be ok at stock speed with bigadv units.

well at stock speed it takes my 920 about 43 min per frame. Not bad, but I think that barely gets a bonus. But it is definitely worth it though

sounds good! you'll really stack up on points then! what kind of motherboard do you have with the 920?

also, how are your amd machines doing?

1/Athlon X2 4400+ ~20 min/frame/normal wu on XFX GeForce 8200 board
2/Athlon X2 4400+ ~20 min/frame/normal wu on XFX GeForce 8200
3/Athlon X2 4400+ ~20 min/frame/normal wu on XFX GeForce 8200
4/Athlon X2 4400+ ~20 min/frame/normal wu on XFX GeForce 8200
5/Phenom X4 9600 ~12 min/frame/normal wu on Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H
6/Phenom II X4 965 black ~5-6 min/frame/normal wu on Asus M4479T Deluxe

7/MSI X58 Pro w/ i7 920 ~3-4 min/frame/normal wu
8/'09 Mac Pro 2x Xeon 5550 26 min 40 sec /frame/bigadv wu

I just jumped to 19th place on the team when my bigadv unit was posted. better get that i7 going and figure out the gpu2 problem. (scratches head)

I think we might catch back up to Team Lithuania :D

Well, I'll hop on the bandwagon. My measly old MBP should be able to cope with it. I'll get my PS3 onto the game as well, just to see how much I can get out of it.

(far out you guys are well equipped)

Great to have you aboard! Every machine we can get helps. PS3's are great folding machines.

Nice. Those amd machines add up since you have so many. How do you deal with heat?

glad to have you!

Congrats whiterabbit on your first bigadv unit. Team outlook looks better, yet we are not out of the woods yet.

The heat is an issue, for now I can open windows and use fans but by next summer I will have to do something about it. I'm actually contemplating cutting a hole in the basement floor (concrete) and digging down several feet to place a tubing coil that could be used to cool the cpu's directly with water blocks. That would require a manifold to distribute the coolant to all of the cpu's and possibly gpu's. That might be cheaper electric wise but would take money and time to implement. Wait a sec, I just realized I already have a hole in the floor for the sump, hmmmm. Anyway I have some time to contemplate the possibilities, and I can do all of the work myself. I know some folks in the heating/cooling business that could help design a system so I will maybe talk with them at some point. Another possibility is a small window ac just for the computer room or moving everything to the basement where it is cooler anyway... but damp in the spring. Lots of possibilities - Google is my friend :D

well good luck with that. it sounds like you'll have fun tackling that job. me, on the other hand, isn't. but i'm in an apartment for now, until around july of next year. and then i'll be moving to another apartment. and hopefully soon after that, a house. just depends on my job. but until i have a house, it seems my ac will be on all the time

right now its reformatting into a RAID, boss wanted to RAID it. lost 2 frames no biggie. here's what i got before that

[22:05:44] pleted 2500 out of 250000 steps (1%)
[22:54:37] Completed 5000 out of 250000 steps (2%)

so thats about 50 mins per frame. i was thinking maybe that was due to the clock speed being 2.26 or the HT. the old 3ghz MP does a frame in the low to mid 40s

wont get to test until tomorrow

oh wow. so wait, whiterabbit's mp was 2.26 or 2.66? based off that, i guess 2.66. hey maybe the raid will help some?
