Life changes as a result of MR:
Learned more about computers and a certain sub culture, which makes my life richer (seriously...)
Have been influenced to pour too much money into Apple products
Have a little more faith in on line communities :)

Since January 2005:

  • Bought 4 Macs: G4 Mac mini, PowerBook (sold), Intel Mac mini, MacBook Pro
  • Bought 3 iPods: 60 GB 4G iPod (sold), 4 GB black nano, 60 GB 5G iPod
  • Gotten a little greyer up top
  • Found out I'm gonna be an uncle again
  • Designed a few web sites
  • Bought some art
  • Spent WAY too much time here
That's about it... my life is somewhat boring. :)

Two...

1. Been less productive at work...god forbid anyone ever notices how many times MacRumors.com gets visited in a day
2. Bought and sold way too many Apple products
3. Bought my first home
4. Graduated with a BA in CIT
5. Got into a great relationship :)
6. Got a great job where I've been promoted twice and am now making significantly more money than I was when I started

I got fatter and my productivity went down two-fold.

Same for me.

That and I also bought several Macs (Power Mac G5, iBook G4, MacBook Pro, and a PowerBook 5300cs). Looking back, I must say I have made the correct choice. :)

In the last three years I have seen, which I have shared here on MR [in no particular order]:

- My advertising job with my company eliminated, not a bad thing since I was given a sales job back in the stores - which I found out I prefer

- A bout of Bell's Palsy

- Being forced to wake-up and see that my 13 year relationship was going to destroy me mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially - unless I ended it when I did

- Having to sell my TH in a market that I could not afford to re-buy in (see the above)

- Being able to look forward each new work day

- Having a space that I can decorate to my needs and tastes

- Getting my first passport

- Traveling the way I like to (cheap, clean places - spending hours chatting with locals, or hours behind my camera)

- In the past year being able to revisit SF (first visit was back in '96), seeing Chicago for the first time, doing my first overseas trip (Reykjavik and London), a week long cruise to the Western Caribbean in October with my sister. And if the travel gods are with me in July - I hope to add Toronto and Amsterdam to my passport

- Looking forward to next year, spending 2 to 4 weeks in Argentina [and other parts of South America (though that might change in order to do a week in Venice for Carnival, with added European destinations)

- Trying to spend more time on my photography

I will add that meeting the likes of you, PlaceOfDis, iGary, Clix Pix, and others have added to my experience.

Spend too much time on the computer now....need to focus man.

I agree. MR can be addictive. So many good people here.

On the plus side... I moved into a nice little flat with Miss Jaffa Cake, acquired my G5 Power Mac, saw Hull City earn a second successive promotion, left the continent for the first time in my life, and a load more ace stuff that I can't recall off the top of my head.

On the downside... I developed Diabetes, turned 30 and my hair has got substantially greyer.

I have...
- Graduated from college and gotten through a year of law school
- Broken up with my gf of 4 years and gotten back together with her
- Had my first two after-college jobs
- Moved from PA to MA to DC
- Sold my first car
- Become a libertarian
- Seen my beloved Red Sox win the world series
- Gone from: ibook g3 900 --> powerbook g4 1.0 --> powermac G5 1.8 --> ibook g4 1.33 --> macbook 2.0 :eek:
- posted here more than 3,000 times...

You too Chip! It was fun meeting you as well. Now if we could just get that damn PlaceofDis to leave his house again. :)

Became a Mac user
In becoming a Mac user, I bought my first ever computer
Bought my first digital camera (to add to my 10 or so random film cameras )
Started running, and got all fit and buff
Stopped running, and became porky
Made some great friends at college, (after a slow start on that front) who I think will be friends for a long time
Did some great collaborative projects with said friends
Sold my first Mac
Bought my second Mac
Graduated (well, I will officially in 3 weeks)
Moved to the other end of the country (well, I will have in 3 days :p)

Coming up on 2 years here in another month or so. Wow - time flies when you're blowing off your real job.

I've learned more about Macs, and perhaps a little more about myself. Met some new people, both online and in "real life" from the forums. Got a new iPod. Got a new MBP. Traveled to a lot of different places.

All in all, though, not a lot of significant changes. Well, aside from the fact that my wife and I are expecting our third child (the other two were pre-MR).
