Thanks @barracuda156, I will try this out and report back how it goes.
Yay, another MorphOS user!My first impression about MorphOS. Simple love it! The Wayfarer & Iris is more than I want from a 20y old PowerPC laptop (Powerbook 15" DLSD). Audio/video playback/adjustment options can be improved. This is still a bit behind the capabilities offered by OS X. But this system is tempting and I'm looking to the 3.20.

Just checked the system requirements for MorphOS, does it only work on PMG5 7.2/7.3 models?
I have a late PMG5 (11.2).
Theoretically this would allow you to have a very large (>2 TiB) drive as your boot disk. Though getting a disk that size to actually boot is.... a troublesome matter in the least. What in the world could I even *do* with this though?
It would be a fun project for sure. I’m sure people have tried it on the Quad before.Theoretically this would allow you to have a very large (>2 TiB) drive as your boot disk. Though getting a disk that size to actually boot is.... a troublesome matter in the least.
Any Mac with an Open Firmware version built in July 2005 or later should be able to boot from GPT formatted disks according to the "List of Open Firmware versions" atIt would be a fun project for sure. I’m sure people have tried it on the Quad before.
The DLSD G4s also have this ability apparently which is pretty neat.
OK, this is a really stupid question, or at least I feel stupid asking it, but where can I get PPCPorts from? ... and is there a set of install instructions? Thanks!
Is that two different DVI ports on your G5 GPU…?I got my hands on an era-appropriate DVI monitor from Dell that I would love to use with my G5. The only problem is that I have the X850 XT, and it has two differently-sized ports in the back. One of them fits perfectly into the existing Apple Cinema Display (A1082), and I discovered that I would need to buy a proprietary and rare Apple adapter device to make the DVI monitor work on this system.
If I could get my hands on it, that would be incredible. I'd be able to work on my writings with the Cinema Display while always having iTunes visible on the Dell DVI monitor.
Oddly enough, it's not two DVI ports on my GPU. One is DVI and the other is ADC, which makes this a tad annoying to try and get a dual monitor setup going with my G5.Is that two different DVI ports on your G5 GPU…?
Last time I turned on my G5 (about 5 years ago), I connected an old HP DVI monitor which I have….. 😁
Nice thing was, it performed exactly the same as when I last shut it down (about 2010, when I got my cMP).
It may be cheaper to get a different GPU, than try and find an ADC adapter/converter.Oddly enough, it's not two DVI ports on my GPU. One is DVI and the other is ADC, which makes this a tad annoying to try and get a dual monitor setup going with my G5.
I read this recently:meanwhile every one of these drives craps out from rubber wear
I paid a lot more than I'm proud to admit for my X850 XT. Trust me, it's definitely much cheaper to get an ADC adapter at this point. It may be cheaper to get a different GPU, than try and find an ADC adapter/converter.
Or pick up one of the old acrylic Apple Cinema Displays, which should connect directly.
My GPU is the X1900 Mac Edition.
