Absolutely. I'm with you all the way on that. As I said when I first got here, I don't mind the attitude or lack of manners as long as I learn what I want to learn.

I think we should make use of the sticky and link to it when it can be used as an answer. Of course we can't just have the whole PPC section become one sticky and no talk at all - but it would be fun if there were more interesting conversations than "what apps can I run" (no offence to the OP's in those threads).

I agree , we could have a sticky called 'Useful Apps' where there would be categories like 'Video','Audio','Browsers' etc.

Totally agree, that was the original intention when we pushed for the sticky to be there in the first place but it just hasn't caught on.

We need structure otherwise everything's going to go down the pan.

It's all in there in the fantastic FAQ skinniezinho wrote. We just need to use it.

Oh yeah , forget my suggestion then , I didn't realise they had that in the FAQ(I normally get my software info from blogs).

its not incorrect Intel processors have not made mac cheaper they STILL cost more then they need or and are worth. i have used Intel since 2000 and AMD since 2005 my first AMD main unit was a Athlon XP socket A it always ran cool vs my P4 that runs at 150F pretty much all the time. my AMD Athlon system runs at 104F at all times. my AMD Phenum Quad Core laptop runs cooler than my Intel Celeron Windows XP laptop infact my Celeron laptop has overheated (even with proper ventilation) atleast 2 dozen times.

as i said All macs cost more then they are worth.

What the hell kinda trolling is that?! Why on eart come on the mac rumours forums to slag off macs, especially considering u use computers with Celerons!

no im not putting macs down they are great machines and outlive a mast majority of PCs im simpley stating that they DO NOT need to be as expencive as they are and only computer i have with a Celeron is my laptop which i pretty much NEVER use anymore

It doesn't matter what YOU think they should be priced. If you don't want to pay the price, then leave it to someone who does, which is the majority of people here.

As for your eBay comment in another thread that you have started, and which has been discussed many times before... A lot of these sellers have no idea about the value of what they're selling, and they look to find buyers who don't know any better than to spend $700 on old tech. There is nothing you can do about it, it"s just life. But again, if you won't buy it, just leave it for someone else who will. If Apple couldn't sell their computers at the price they are now, do you think they would have lowered it YEARS ago? It's not like they're losing money from not selling Macs. They know better than to not over produce and limit their stock.

the Mac Pro and PM G5 are considered workstations is the MDD G4 also concidered a workstation?

Ehhhh... Probably not.

The G4 was designed to compete with the Pentium 4. The G5 was designed to compete with the Xeon. To get to workstations you really need to be on a Xeon/Opteron level.

G4s were dual processor which would normally take them into workstation territory. But the G4s were so slow that dual processors were just to keep them competitive with the Pentium 4, it never really bumped them into workstation territory.
