I've been away from iPhone for quite a while now and recently came back to a 6+. I remember hearing all the complaining over the years about lack of extra RAM but I'm wondering where people tend to see this the most. What I mean is, what will your typical person be doing where they'll see the issues with only having 1GB of RAM?

I recently had the Note 4 which had 3GB and so far, I don't have a single issue with my iPhone. Is this something that only people who do extensive browsing and/or App switching will notice?

Yes, swapping between different browser tabs (especially if they're feature-rich or you've loaded up a search) and apps. The 6+ is worse for this problem than the standard iPhone 6.

*for you.
If you don't use your phone heavily as a computer-replacement device (in the main) then 1GB of RAM will be sufficient for everyday mobile phone tasks. Some of us run into RAM limitations not just daily, but several times per day, and it is very dismissive of you to label it a non-issue. It's like we're moaning for the sake of it!

I use my iPhone 6 Plus everyday all day and into the night. It has replaced my iPad, and I rarely use my Macbook anymore except for intense Photoshop work. My phone is in a constant heavy use cycle.

Don't assume you know anything about my day to day iPhone usage just because my flawless device performs exceptionally and doesn't corroborate the poor performance of your device.

Non-issue. Consider yourself dismissed.

You didn't correct me on anything. It is a non-issue. Why do I have to say "for me" when there are millions upon millions of others that it is a non-issue for as well?

You and many like you apparently think your phone is defective. It doesn't perform the way you think it should. Just because you're not happy with the phone's performance doesn't mean there is an "issue." It means you are not happy with the phone. So, get another phone. Problem solved.

This is a non-issue.

If you consider constant app and tab reloading to constitute "flawless performance" then your needs and mine are very different. I have zero problem with you being perfectly happy with your iPhone 6+, but spare me the attitude.
The iPhone 5 reloaded apps & browser tabs way less readily than the 6+ and this to me reinforces the issue. If this was an iOS 'by design' thing, then all iPhones would perform in exactly the same manner. The fact that the 6+ is the worst of the lot, going back years, tells me that it's under-specced when it comes to RAM.

And that is exactly how you all come across :p ;) likewise anyone else could take exception at the accusation that those who think it is fine don't use their phones.

Speaking about serial complainers.....

I DO use it as a computer replacement device for several tasks. Still not having any issue with 1 Gb of RAM.
Would I like to have 2 Gb ? Sure. But that doesn't change the fact that with actual iOS implementation, 1 Gb is enough.

Except that constant tab and apps reloading is an issue affecting YOUR device, and not mine.
I could have SOME tab reloads on Safari, but that's completely different from the CONSTANT app (???) and tabs reloading you are whining about since iPhone 6 launch....

My iPhone 6 doesn't do this.

I have zero problem with you being perfectly happy with your iPhone 6+,

Thank you for letting me be perfectly happy with my phone. I feel relieved now.

but spare me the attitude.

You going all over this forum constantly complaining and challenging anyone who says otherwise is the epitome of having attitude. I didn't even post to you with my original comment...you came in and began this with me.

No, it didn't.

I guess my iPhone is special then.

With this comment alone, any credibility you had is now nonexistent. The most asinine thing you have said. Don't bother responding to me...I won't respond back anymore. This comment let's me know you aren't worth my time. Worst iPhone ever? You are either a troll or ignorant.

On another thread he said that the iPhone 6+ is good only for texts and phone calls... Go figure...

According to his logic, we all are less than basic ignorant users. Don't you know ? ;)

Just an advice from a long timer user, if you let me: arguing with him, you'll going to face a temporary ban, sooner or later
He's clearly not satisfied by his phone, and he's going to repeat the same things over and over again until you are going to say something violating forum's rules.
For what it counts, I agree with everything you wrote.

If 1GB is perfectly acceptable, why would you like 2GB?

Because more is better than less, and because iOS 9 could be different from iOS 8. Simple like that.

This year there only 2 Gb device is the iPad Air 2. And iOS is optimized for 1 Gb of RAM.
Next year with their iPad Air 3 and iPhone 6S supposedly at 2 Gb, Apple could decide to implement new functionalities.

And that is exactly how you all come across :p ;) likewise anyone else could take exception at the accusation that those who think it is fine don't use their phones.

When people say that they run into no problems and that 1GB is fine for their usage patterns, I have absolutely zero problems with that. It's when people say that I'm talking BS, or that my device must be defective because theirs performs flawlessly, that I take umbrage. My position then becomes one of being attacked as a serial bullshi**er, or that I'm an Android troll blah blah and of course I react to that. A significant number of iPhone users agree that 1GB causes unacceptable browser and app reloading.

With regard to my 6+, I 'whine' about four major (to me) issues. No way do I complain about every small bug under the sun. The insufficient amount of RAM, occasional freezing screen, crashing apps and depleted battery life since 8.1.2 get my goat.

Since the 6S is an "S" model for "Speed", I think it's very likely it will have 2 GB. It's especially true if the iPhone 6s comes with iOS 9 pre-installed, and is supported all the way up to iOS 12. Another argument would be that Android phones have 3 GB of RAM already.

If it had only 1 GB though, I think I'd be deceived, but I'd still have to buy it. I'm really in need of more storage, the Touch ID feature and a better camera than my iPhone 5.

My iPhone 6 doesn't do this.

Several others have agreed on these forums that the iPhone 5 reloads tabs and apps less readily than the 6+. It is a 32Bit phone with the same 1GB of RAM, a smaller, lower resolution screen, and no hardware scaling. It places much less of a strain on the amount of installed RAM. Oh and I didn't say that the 6+ is the worst iPhone ever, you took that out of context. I said that it is the worst for reloading browser tabs and apps, certainly when I consider the iPhone 4 onwards. Regardless, it is absolutely worse for it than the two+ years old iPhone 5.

No, not several... A FEW.
millions and millions of users are absolutely happy about it.
Easy solution for your problem: sell it. I think Samsung sells some 3 Gb devices.
Take it as my personal advice.

Plenty of people complain on here about bugs which to me are perfectly liveable with, and yet when I complain about a substantial hardware deficit I'm aggressively told to switch platforms! As for the millions of people thing, you have absolutely no idea whether they're happy or not. I know of several iPhone 5 owners who couldn't wait to get rid of them for various reasons and switched to Android when their contracts were up. They never joined MacRumors to complain.

Exactly, a few out of 75 million ;)

I think you are misinterpreting that. If you highlighted it in perhaps one or two threads, fine, good and in your opinion. However at every single opportunity your are ramming this through our throats, and at the same time insult everyone who are happy with their phone. It is only because of that approach you get that reaction.

You're way off the mark there. I have never once started a thread about the iPhone 6+ RAM issue. I only ever contribute to threads started by others on this topic, so your claim that I am ramming this down other peoples' throats is erroneous. You just don't like my opinion.
Besides, one could just as easily claim that you and a few others ram (pun intended) your opinion that 1GB is perfectly fine down everyone's throat at every single opportunity...

If it still has 1GB of RAM I'm probably buying it anyway. Though I seriously doubt it will because the S versions are usually about spec bumps.

Aggressively? No no it's just a polite advice.
Since your presence on the forum seems to be dedicated to complain about your iPhone, I'd like you to be relieved from that weight...

----------

No, just you and a few others.#
None of the millions have commented thus far...

They are voting with their wallets!
The phone is selling like hot cakes, and there isn't any massive return campaign.

Um, I bought one. I'm still dissatisfied with it.
You seem to think it's the case that you either love your iPhone 100% and cannot fault it, or you loathe everything about it and return it for a refund.
