This confuses me care to elaborate?

It's a standard aspect and before you say it's too narrow it's still wider then the iPhone so that's meaningless.

To me it almost makes the most sense. If apple doesnt change their aspect it's going to be a WIDE phone. If they went with a 4 it will be as uncomfortably wide AND have a small screen.

I just assumed we were all thinking a wide screen.
 
I voted for 4.3" because I think that's the best size. 4" isn't really that much of a difference to 3.5". It just cracks me up at all the people saying how anything greater than 4" is a brick lol. Wow just wow. No matter what Apple delivers this year everyone will whine and b****.

I'm saying that with Apple's current aspect ratio, 4.7 inches would indeed be a WIDE phone, same as you are.

4.7 inches on a phone only works if you have an aspect ratio like that of the HTC Titan.

Nah everyone will love it no matter what it is. Only way I'd be completely disappointed is if the screen didn't change at all. But that wouldn't be too bad, I just wouldn't need to upgrade lol.

Gotcha.

Isn't the Titan the same aspect as any large screen android?

Yea. Same here. As long as it increases somewhat lol. Though I'm completely baffled at how some want it to remain 3.5". :eek: :eek: :eek:

It's pretty clear from this poll that you're in the majority.

What really annoys me is that people think the phone shouldn't be any bigger if the screen size gets bigger. That just won't be significant enough a change. Having both a 4+ inch screen and a bigger phone would bring about several advantages for a phone that is already too small.

-better typing experience
-more viewing space for movies, webpages
-bigger battery

Maybe apple will realize the need for different keyboards with bigger screens!

Swype makes a hard to reach screen so much easier if people insist on one hand use.

Btw I'm on my 4s in tapatalk so I can't see the poll.

Apple will never allow customizable keyboards. They already have a great keyboard and they want to keep people thinking that the Apple Way is the best way by making it the only way.

I hope Apple sticks to current sizes. In my opinion, 4" already starts to look ridiculous for a phone, and can't comfortably (without stretching) be covered with your thumb, even if you have larger hands like myself. Let alone women, most Asian people, teens etc. I think the coverage picture on page 1 is dead on for the average hand size.

Anyhow, Apple's product lines have since Jobs' return consisted of not too many different products. They almost certainly are not going to ditch the 3.5" form factor. If a product is going to be positioned between it and the ipad remains to be seen.

agree 100%. if they do increase the size of the next model then in my opinion, the 4s could well be the last great smartphone :)

Well, they sell millions of 3.5" iPhones. They're not going to stop making them. I think the question rather is if they'll announce a bigger model or not.

I would be amazed to see a 4" iPhone, but the size it is now, is good.

They could remove the bezel..

But in that picture, he did not reach the top of his phone with his thumb.
 
There is no perfect size. Too many personal preferences.

That said, 4.3" is used on many Androids due to it being exactly 16:9 which is perfect for movies, video's etc.

That's the size I'd like for the next iPhone since I prefer Apple not Android.

Sadly it'll probably never happen since Jobs condemned it. Apple obsession with tiny phones will limit it to 4" at most.

With no border on the sides of the display to keep the iPhone narrow, it will be rather dull looking. Any overlap from a case will further complicate matters.

All in the interest of vanity on Apples part.
