It's a good thing Apple isn't a company that listen's to people's wants. They do what they think is best for them not their customers. It's also a good thing that a lot of Apple's customers will just accept whatever Apple says is good and bad. It's a perfect match and Apple know it. So if Apple chooses to come out with a 4 inch screen, their customers who say they don't want a bigger screen, will more than happy fall in line as usual. They will not say anything negative about the move to a bigger screen. The is a guaranteed fact. Of course you have a lot of Apple customers who say their on the fence just so that when Apple does chose 3.5 or 4 inch screen they don't look like they disagree with Apple. It is an odd phenomenon isn't it? Apple has such hold on millions of their customers that they feel they can't have an opinion or express their own opinion that makes them feel like they have betrayed their Apple brand. Again, this isn't every Apple customer, but it does describe a good number of them.

After owning a HTC HD2 (4.3" screen), an iPhone 3GS (3.5" screen), and now a HTC Radar (3.8" screen), I'd say 4" is the perfect size for a phone (for me anyway). I know other people have their own opinions, but for me 4" is the ideal size.

Clearly, the market is demanding bigger phones, but there is a force that remains resistant to improvement.

The ONLY reason some iPhone owners want their phone to remain the same size is because they are ardent, unflinching Apple loyalists. Just look at their forum signatures: all listing their array of Apple gear. Rest assured that when Apple makes the iPhone a 4 inch phone they will have a massive headache and possibly a near aneurism from the cognitive dissonance at the idea that Apple would betray ITSELF but once they get the 4 inch phone in their hands, that familiar wave of euphoria and mind-numbing ecstasy will befall them once more, and within a week they will be converted to ardent 4 inch screen supporters, simply because Apple made it so.

2 points:

1. What is the evidence that a bigger screen would be an improvement? Are there any usability studies supporting that?
2. Why did you bother creating a poll when you'd clearly made up your mind before the thread started and have consistently rubbished anyone who disagrees with you throughout the thread? It seems you're not really interested in what anyone else thinks, you just want to promote your own point of view.

IMHO they will stick with the current screen size anyway, for the same reason they aren't making a 7" iPad: they think the current screen size is the right one. In the end it doesn't matter what any of us think...

Personally I think they should have 3 versions 3.5 4 and 4.5 all same specs except the screen size

I like how Apple loyalist deny obvious problems with the iPhone. "Well, that never happens to me." They always say...

You mistake criticism for ridicule.
call it what you will: if one is so very 'critical' of Apple and\or their products, why would one choose to be a part of the experience - if not to troll? I get the distinct impression that a larger screen still wouldn't sate the critique you've displayed.

If you're genuinely interested in improvement and you genuinely believe as you preach, you know how things can be improved - so why not start your own company? According to your posts, we'd all jump on board because everything you did would be 'absolutely perfect' for all of us - right? wrong! your product would never equal the user base Apple has, and you know that. They didn't get where they are without catering for at least somebody other than their employees.

you'd do better leaving it to a company that already has a finger on the pulse of a sizable portion of the human race, and stop being so self absorbed.

agree 100%. if they do increase the size of the next model then in my opinion, the 4s could well be the last great smartphone :)

Yeah, if they move to 4", I am going to hold onto the 4S for a long time, well as long as I can do without 4G LTE anyways...

At least iPhones aren't outdated after 2 months like some *other* types of phones.

You kind of need some money to start your own product. And a lot of it. And then some engineers to make your idea into a reality. Competing in today's market, for the underdog, is almost impossible. The only area a nobody becomes a somebody is if they come up with some catchy new IP. Outside of that you won't compete with Apple, not because your ideas can;t be better, but because you don't have the resources to make it happen.

You mistake criticism for ridicule.

What you're doing in this thread has nothing to do with being critical towards Apple or their products. What you're doing in more than half of your contributions in this discussion is accusing those who don't share your preferences of being mindless sheep, uncapable of thinking for themselves. Which is pretty ridiculous. Are you frustrated about something?

Having both a 4+ inch screen and a bigger phone would bring about several advantages for a phone that is already too small.

-better typing experience
-more viewing space for movies, webpages
-bigger battery

Having used an EVO and also the G Nex (briefly on the latter) I still prefer my iPhone's typing. I can't say that is 100% screen size though, as they obviously aren't running the same software.

More viewing space would be nice. The GNex was the first phone that I just felt was too big. I really liked the size of the EVO. I could go with an iPhone EVO. :)

The battery isn't bigger in all cases, unfortunately. It is something that I think would be necessary, as a bigger screen equals more power drain.

that's my point! disgruntled former employee? can't start your own co? why not just ridicule somebody else's and feel important.

Yeah but this isn't a much bigger screen like the Gnex.

OK? I was agreeing with you and adding a bit of my own experience. Not sure why you said this, but ok.

As was said, ridicule does not equal criticism. I think some intriguing points were made. Everyone knows Apple is hard headed and would rather try and convince their users how to do things than do them the way the users say want them; if those users put up enough of a stink for a long enough time Apple bends, somewhat (for what it's worth sometimes Apple, and other companies, do have something here and it just takes a bit of getting used to to realize it is actually better than the way I may have wanted it). You can look at that is ridicule, I look at it as nothing but fact.

Funny to me that when a person comes on here not saying Apple walks on water all of the sudden they are told to start their own company if they can do better. No, you are not the first to make a ridiculous recommendation as this.

I always like to point out that I can't dance worth my life. That doesn't stop me from being able to tell if a person looks like a fool on the dance floor. My point? One does not need to be able to execute something better than another to know that it could still be done better.

NO screen will be prefect.. than means you can virtually view the images in your brain... iPhone 7.... :D
