I get the native tethering, however when I turn it on, nothing happens? Did the deb file not install correctly?

All right, I restored and did everything over. I installed the DEB file and everything seemed to run fine. However, when I click internet tethering to on, nothing happens. No blue bar saying "Internet Tethering" appears at the top of the iPhone.

nothing is supposed to happen when you turn it on. you get the blue bar either when usb is plugged into your computer, or you connect via bluetooth.

You have to connect it to your computer first before getting the blue bar ;)

Do you use OSX? If yes, if you go to System Preferences -> Network
Does it say "iPhone" on the left bar along with Ethernet/Airport/Firewire/etc?

No it does not say iPhone even with USB internet tethering turned on and it being connected.

The carrier.plist only modified the tethering menu to active (I think) and the whole backend service is handled by the commcenter. In your case, I think you might want to try patching the commcenter again and just for good measure reapply the carrier.plist....

Also, once you typed those dpkg command to install the .deb file, what showed up on your terminal?

I don't have it with me at the moment since I quit it last night but what I do remember is everything went smoothly. The first time I tried it I kept getting an error with installer 1 or something and it didn't work. So I restored my phone, and did the dpkg and I noticed everything went smoothly there wasnt an error this time. It ended with, You need to reboot your phone, and once I saw that message I figured it worked because I didn't see that message before. How do I re-install the commcenter? Just SSH into my iPhone through terminal again?

Yeah just basically redo the whole thing again. But i'm not sure myself why it's not working. It works first time for me :(

When I redo the whole thing do I have to put back the stock Commcenter files and the carrier.plist or can I just leave it as is and try again? How do I go about redoing the whole thing?

I wasn't aware the PdaNet cost anything, but found this on their help page:

What is the difference between the free and full edition? How to get the full edition?

The free edition will start blocking secure web sites (web sites that require login) after the 14-days-trial expiration. You can purchase the full edition here.

After the purchase you will receive a serial code in the email. Please use it to unlock the full edition. You can do so either by tapping Settings->Register on the phone side or by going to http://my.iphone on the computer when PdaNet is connected.

Full edition and free edition have the same installer so there is no need to reinstall if you already have the free edition.

after u dl it u start the trial. im using it it also has easy to follow instructions i had it running in 5 min

How long have you had BigBoss tether on your phone? I DL'ed it & noticed it said bill date. Is that some kind of reminder as to when the AT&T bill is due? It would seem like a kick in the butt if they charge $5 only to let AT&T know that you are tethering behind their back. :p
