It's funny, when I read I hear the text in my head. A post full of mangled language sounds like somebody babbling in my head and I skip the post to shut up the babbling voice.

As another example of how brilliant people were in the area, across the state line in Indiana, the school system mis-diagnosed an English girl as having a speech impediment because she didn't pronounce the words as they expected to hear them. "What's the capital of the United States?" "It's Washington, D.C." "Nope, it's Warshington, D.C."
Returned home from work to staggeringly discover this thread still on its legs -- absolutely incredible.
Personally, I find poor grammar and spelling annoying because I also spend a lot of time at work proofing copy -- anything that isn't correct leaps off the page or screen.
My posting style may not be perfect, but I try to remain coherent at all times... it's the least I can do, taking care to communicate clearly, because apart from smilies and other images, what else do we have to go on here?

Truth is, if you communicate in an unintelligible fashion, you will be misinterpreted or ignored. You could have had a cure for cancer in your post and I would have never found it. Proper grammar and spelling, though not essential for communication, certainly are a way of showing respect for those who you'd like to read your posts.
Additionally, having decent writing skills will help you fool people into thinking you are intelligent!
For the most part, writing well has many pluses, while writing poorly simply opens the door to the poster being seen as lazy, illiterate, disrespectful or so full of himself as to think that grammar rules don't apply because his posts are so brilliant that it's obviously worth it to sift through the mound of verbal feces to find a glittering gem. Ain't gonna happen.

Legible is a variable term. You think your posts are legible based on other people's responses... but that does not mean your posts are 'legible', just 'readable'.
Readability is important and so is having legible writings. But I can have very readable writings, but nobody can understand it. Or, I can have readings that are easy to understand, but are nearly impossible to read.
It takes two, as they say.
Why did you start the thread if you don't like having it shoved in your face?
Here's a great solution for cutting down the people that get mad at you:
1. Use sentences with commas, periods, and if you really want to, semi-colons.
2. Capitalize the first letter of the sentence and proper nouns. OS X is not os x. Apple uses OS X, OS 10.4, etc. so it is hard to go wrong with the name of something. But os x is incorrect any way you slice it.
3. If you know a word is misspelled, change it and learn the spelling. If you accidently mess up, big deal. But intentionally not looking up words means you aren't trying to help us help you.
I have OCD. Spelling is a big deal for me. Grammar is too, but less so. I don't expect nor care if you write at the same level as I do. I do expect that when I try to help someone, I can easily understand the problem and then ask for clarification if needed or just solve the problem.
I was looking for this to happen here on this post. It's just when someone is wanting help and all they are getting in return is complaining about spelling and grammer and not even trying to help, That is what pisses me off. This is just a discussion on why people don't respect other people by trying to meet them half way. That is all i ask, and if people want to ignore me fine so be it.
